  1. So true, it is such a great port. We returned fairly early to the shop so the train was not a problem
  2. I felt like I was in heaven in the "Old Library". I wanted to stay and soak it up.
  3. For those of you who want to see the Book of Kells at Trinity College, you can purchase tickets ahead of time. We were there in May 2022 and had plenty of time to get there via the train. I think we got off about the 7th stop but I am not sure. It was a short walk to the college. A local on the train coached us. She was on her way to work. She was a sweetheart.
  4. My point is that if they had too much weight in the main check on bag, then they could remove some weight and place it in the carry on.
  5. Yes, they do weigh it. We found our scale to be very accurate. If yours is over a bit, then you can move a few things to a carry on bag. The Virgin Atlantic agent was really a Delta agent at Seatac and he was very warm and charming with a sense of humor. We will definitely fly Virgin Atlantic again!
  6. I will tell you that is what Princess Customer service tells everyone. They are not well trained and it is simply NOT true. There are many recent cruise reviews that will attest to this. A great review is by @JimmyVWine !!!
  7. Not in Civi, but yes, when we boarded in Southampton (on a Princess transfer) and the same in Vancouver, BC.
  8. We live in Washington state and have driven to Vancouver, BC many times to board a ship. Last September, we drove there the day before the cruise and ended up parking our car a t a different hotel than where we stayed. Be very careful in selecting your hotel if you drive up a day ahead. Parking at the port can be booked online. I do not think Princess is a good resource for parking. Here are some links. Be careful, because I think they only allow 7 days. This was an issue for us as our cruise was 12 nights. BTW- it took us about 40 minutes to get across the border. https://impark.com/vancouver/canada-place-parking/ https://en.parkopedia.ca/parking/underground/canada_place_indigo_lot_034/v6c/vancouver/?arriving=202306271030&leaving=202306271230
  9. Even if you do not make advance reservations, there should be no problem. Just show up together and they will show you to a table, no problem.
  10. We were just on the Sky and my very first impression of the ship was, WOW! What a beautiful ship! Was it perfect? No This was our 9th Princess cruise and our 7th Princess ship. The positives did outweigh the negatives and we will most likely cruise with Princess again. Our favorite Princess ship is the Golden (now sold from the fleet) and the Regal. We had fantastic weather except one port (nothing to do with Princess). Dan, the cruise director was very good and upbeat.
  11. Incorrect. We just got off of the Sky and we booked the Plus two years ago. We received the new terms with NO extra payment.
  12. Kirkland is Costco. I live in Washington state and Kirkland, WA is the headquarters of Costco and the brand name.
  13. "Still" water is an expression used in Europe. Many restaurants charge for both. I have seen "Kirkland" water on Princess and tours like in Norway!
  14. We have boarded with all of our luggage with no problem. The key is being able to move it yourself. Just remember, that you may not be able to take it to your cabin right away, due to the cabins not yet being ready. Since you are on the Princess transfer, that can work in your favor as you may be a later arrival.
  15. We really enjoyed our stop in Cobh. We did a private tour and went to the Blarney Castle and I had to visit the Woolery in short walking distance. If you spend 250 pounds there, they will ship for free to your home in the states. Yes, I did!
  16. We purchased a luggage scale. It is small and has a hook onto which you hang the luggage. Because it is so small, you can take it with you. Then you will have no surprises at the airport. When we just did our Norway and Iceland cruise, we would be on 3 different airlines so we needed to go by the weight requirements of the least which I think was Alaska with a max of 55 lbs. We really enjoyed our flight on Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy. British Airways has really deteriorated.(also Premium Economy)
  17. We just left the Sky Princess on June 17th. The earliest walk off (you take your own luggage) was 7:30 am. If thee is a holdup or reason that the ship does not dock on time, then there could be an issue.
  18. The following board for the British Isles was critical for us in planning our British Isles cruise (May 2022). Also, our Roll Call was immensely helpful The first thread on the forum addresses transfers. Right now, the trains are on strike. Be aware that your luggage would most likely not stay with you on the train and there is a lot of lugging it around. Many like taking the Princess transfer from Victoria Station on embarkation day ($59.00 per person). It costs less if you book directly with National Express. Many people book a return transfer together like through Blackberry Cars and share the expense when returning to LHR on disembarkation day. Just this past June 17th, we took the Princess transfer (the bus) to LHR and it went very well ($59.00 per person). https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/148-british-isleswestern-europe/
  19. @Sulialto : We loved our walking tour with Annette on Guernsey. She is a native there and extremely knowledgeable. She also has a great sense of humor. I loved walking by Victor Hugo's house (Les Miserables was required reading for me in high school; yes all 1500 pages). He was exiled there for 14 years and this is where he wrote Les Mis. There is also a bronze statue of hi on a park bench, and yes, DH took my photo. https://annettehenrytours.gg/
  20. Italian night in the buffet on the Sky was very good (about a week ago).
  21. See my post#126. The Wake View Bar may have an espresso machine, but not sure.
  22. Just go to the International Cafe and tell them what you would like. I did that and it worked well. I would ask for 3 shots of Decaf over ice and then add my own splash of cream. There are also other bars with espresso machines, like the one next to Princess Live! which we often frequented.
