  1. We agree, the filet at brunch was excellent and the best cut of beef on the ship that was included in the cruise fare. It was a nice 6oz portion after cooking and always satisfied. The flat iron will be much better than the strip loin. Flat irons, as you may know, have sinew connective tissue which must be carefully excised when butchered or it will be very tough. When I got a tough one over the years I would politely ask for another and it would be replaced without question. When properly butchered the flat iron is nearly as tender as filet provided it is cooked medium rare. Longer cooking times can also make it tough.
  2. Thanks for this. I have sailed Radiance from Long Beach 4 times and have 5 more booked and 2 on Carnival Firenze. I haven't seen or heard of fighting on my sailings. It has mostly been a greater LA crowd on my cruises, as to be expected. I guess I have been lucky. Thanks again and welcome back.
  3. I understood you sailed last week but the mention of the fight didn't read as though it happened on your cruise. Details?
  4. Is this the fight maybe 6 weeks ago or so? I can't find a video of it online. I have a cruise booked for February 2025 on Panorama so I hope what you heard was typical crew scuttlebutt.
  5. Carnival will now serve both desserts in the MDR and in the buffet. Unfortunately, in the past few years we have noticed both desserts in the buffet are made with gelatin. With the cheesecake this is done to use less cream cheese and with the pie they can use less sweetened condensed milk. They save money but the true price we pay is with a poor quality product, e.g. you should not be able to press down on a slice of cheesecake and watch it bounce back up!
  6. Carnival announced 2 days ago the horrible strip loin steak on the every day menu in the MDR has been replaced with the flat iron steak they used to serve. If not familiar, you may want to google the flat iron. Some beef lovers will find it interesting reading how this cut was "discovered". We're hoping the flat iron will also be served with the steak and eggs entrée at the seaday brunch.
  7. Glad we have Radiance booked for Halloween and again in December this year.
  8. Intrepid posted on Greg's review to reach a larger audience 🙂
  9. There's always one. Thanks for the updates. While we don't dress for dinner Carnival likes having elegant night to sell photos.
  10. We liked the tractor pin idea so much we started tipping the crew with a tractor cake! Carnival says no more baked goods can be given to crew so I guess we'll settle for the tractor pins.
  11. "A fresh batch" of human beings you mean? Such a contemptible remark that smacks of privilege.
  12. Cool, we'll look for this next month when it's our turn on the ship.
  13. I gave up on those things that are trying to pass as biscuits.
  14. We had the same experience as solo1959. Good luck
  15. Had no clue about the window cleaning feature. That's why the view is always clear. We heard what we thought was a light rain shower at about 4am a couple of times but it must have been the window washer because it never did rain that week. You're right about the cabin being the same size as a balcony less the balcony of course. The sofa is a big plus for us and gets lots of use.
  16. I won't book the Mardi Gras or her sisters due to no 1A category cabins with portholes. Very disappointing!
  17. We keep our cards on us in a pocket and prefer it.
  18. The photos we uploaded to the app were scrutinized carefully. We decided Verifly was more of a pain in the neck than useful.
