I have dogs. They are my world. I believe all dogs serve as some form of therapy or another. But if I saw a dog in a stroller (pram in Australia ð ) on the ship, I would be ropeable and even more so in a dining area! It is a rare 'trigger' for me. Service Dogs, however, have my absolute admiration. ...and a pic of one of my troublemakers just cause...

Aussie here - challenge accepted! We are on holiday and as thus champagne (or sparkling wine whatev's) every morning for brekkie to start the day. Every day is a gift and a celebration and treated as amazing ð We have always gone by this code. We purchased the HIA as a way of not having to be bothered by a bill at the end without looking too much at it but when we did think about it, by the time we work our way thru coffee's, cocktails, and lunch/dinner/after dinner drinks, I feel fairly sure it will be quite the value package for us - yay!

Drinks price increase on Rotterdam ...maybe fleetwide?
nannygoatjunction replied to raesive's topic in Holland America Line
My biggest fear. We purchased the HIA package so we would not have a bill at the end of our Cruise. ð -
Thank you and yes we absolutely shall do ð

It was the stairs off the wharf, I believe. Very steep and narrow. It was taking over half an hour to unload each tender and it was not possible to get everyone onto the island and then off again. It was very hot (normal weather) and it seems many didn't cope. Considering the very, very upset passengers and tour operators, I was surprised not to read it on here.

There was quite the discussion elsewhere about a westerdam cruise to Komodo island a few days ago. Because of problems with the stairs and people taking too long to get down them, all private excursions were cancelled on the day.

For an Aussie the HIA has gone from $75 to $85 per day. We purchased it so that we would not have a bill at the end of our cruise. We are generous drinkers whilst on holidays so it represented pretty good value with the add-ons. However, I recall seeing on another page recently a picture of a new current drinks menu for the HIA with most increases to $12, but I can't find it now. I would be peeved if that is the case.

First HAL Cruise, Not Impressed
nannygoatjunction replied to Abe3689's topic in Holland America Line
Even your reply is subjective ð not everyone is good with words, or words that suit how you wish to read it. My hubby is very bad with words, it doesn't make what he has to say of any less value. What is a neutral area? I come specifically to this area to read posts specifically about HAL. Good, bad and indifferent. ð -
First HAL Cruise, Not Impressed
nannygoatjunction replied to Abe3689's topic in Holland America Line
I don't understand why the op is getting hammered here? It's simply their opinion, and we all have a different one. We are never likely to get a free Cruise, not do we have any interest in gambling, but appreciate the time spent giving a review. One persons experience and perceptions are not another's, no right or wrong. You would have to have pretty thick skin to shrug off some of nasty directed comments posted here. Totally unnecessary. In my opinion, of course. ð- 155 replies

Quasi-Live Westerdam Oct 1st Japan
nannygoatjunction replied to Ferry_Watcher's topic in Holland America Line
We are doing Yokohama to Seattle April next year in an aft balcony so will follow your adventures with much interest and enthusiasm ð -
The package was listed for $299 14-16 day cruise (ours is 16 days) but when the confirmation email came it only said 14 so I contacted HAL who stated it was for the 16 days. If I get on the ship and it is only 14 I will be totally p****d! especially at $960Au! But will remain positive because it is a luxury that we embrace ð

Thank you for your replies, not sure why there is no info online and it seems very "secret squirrel" business ð some of those prices listed are ok, I guess, not perhaps the $2500 package ð we have some reasons for wanting specific pics and will make enquiries once onboard. ð
-
Thankyou for that. A good figure, even with our appalling Aussie dollar.

We are looking to purchase printed photos on our cruise and would like to know some prices to budget into our slush fund. I appreciate that they are probably exy but have been concerned about some comments that they on on a USB which don't work when they get off the ship. ð

New Informal Trend Permanent?
nannygoatjunction replied to LocoLoco1's topic in Holland America Line
A very valid point. We have always had issues with how much I pack and also how I proportion % luggage space to me/him ðĪŠ There is some eye rolling at excess luggage fees, but happy wife, happy life, he says, bless him. However, part of the attraction for the cruise is dressing up. As simple farmers normally clad in flannels and ripped jeans and nary a hairbrush in sight..... we (me!) look forward to high heels and posh frocks galore. Love seeing others dressed up but don't care if they haven't. To each their own of course. I really do hate the term "dressy" night tho. I much prefer another lines term of "elegant" night. :) -
Thankyou TAW1963 ð

nannygoatjunction replied to liamur14's topic in Holland America Line
Is this only applicable to American customers? I cant find any reference to a $1 deposit sale on the Australian site? ð
