  1. Thanks for the help, found the change cabin and brought me back to what I was used to seeing and can see cabins and decks available which help in deciding what I want before I call my PVP. For new cruisers I bet they are not aware of how to find all options available.
  2. Just tried to do mock booking and instead of getting to choose deck and cabin it immediately asked for payment information. Can anyone provide any information on is it possible to do a mock booking and get a chance to choose deck and cabin?
  3. We have used Coral Breeze to go to Caye Caulker, they have option to snorkel or just go to the Caye which we have done. they drop you off at the Split and we enjoy the day there and they pickup there so very easy. Star from Coral Breeze is very helpful with any questions and they take good care of you. We still talk about our time on the island.
  4. Cruise company is recommending we have covid insurance in case we test positive on cruise. Any help on policy that covers medical and hotel if quarantine is required?
  5. Wow so good to hear from you all and hope you all are doing well and hopefully travelling all over the world. I will never forget you all and I had such a great time with you all and hope you all have trips planned now that covid is waning. thanks so much for saying Hello!
  6. First of all the lady told me that at this time they no longer require trip insurance for covid altho she recommended that we do purchase this, we will receive an antigen covid test at the port at no cost to us before we board. The biggest thing is not requiring the covid insurance but while checking for same it is not expensive so I may purchase anyway. This is for January sailing from Costa Rica.
  7. At that price I would book now, I also cruise solo and since we pay double I have never seen that low a price, or is that $258 without the single supplement?
  8. In May I sailed out of Jax and made notice of the time to get out in the Ocean and it took 1 hour 45 minutes, not sure when the casino opened but the time mentioned by thethirdhalf seems reasonable, good luck and enjoy your cruise.
  9. I cruise with friends and I am solo and I would never want to stay in a regular cabin with others as that would be very crowded and I would never feel comfortable and anticipate my friends would feel the same. Have your friend bite the bullet and look at the 1A cabins as mentioned and I believe you all will enjoy your cruise much more.
  10. There are trees and to the left off the tender which is quieter and has trees and fewer people but you have to walk to lunch but are closer to outside gate and the local baar and shops.
  11. I always go to Bearded Clam which is on main street as you get off ship in an alley way. Friendly, cold beer, good food.
  12. A plus to Princess Cays is you can go outside the gate and visit George's Bar.
  13. There is no covered parking but when I leave my car at the hotel the parking is not covered either. At the port the parking is so close and they have porters in the lot helping with luggage if needed. I always prepay and it speeds entrance to the parking lot. I have been provided lots of answers to my questions of places I have never been and glad to offer my experiences. No longer interested in winging it. The two restaurants and Longhorn Steak House and Ruby Tuesdays. You all have a great trip/cruise.
  14. I always stay at one of the hotels near the airport and most of them have a shuttle from the airport for free but to get to port you would need uber, taxi, and some of them have connections with a shuttle company that will take you to port. Last two times I have parked at the port and for time saved I now view this as my best option. The list has Comfort Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn and some others. The ones I listed are within walking distance to two restaurants. I would rate these as medium price, I have one booked for December at $124. These are easy to get to and only 15 minute drive to port. Hope you have a great cruise.
  15. Do you plan on going to George"s Bar outside the gates for Kalik or Sands, $4 each?
  16. A sight to warm my soul, perfect beer for a Bahama beach.
  17. Platinum with Carnival and is my "go to" line but I have been on Windstar twice, once was to the BVI and hit all the small islands main cruise lines can't and with less than 300 people it was truly wonderful. Went to islands I had never heard about. Second was on their small (148 pass.) sail ship to Tahiti. Their level of service and quality of food is amazing and their beach BBQ's and BBQ on deck are so great. Yes you pay and totally different but If you are more inclined to sit and watch the water, small ports without a huge crowd of people, no shops or pool games but I really enjoy both. Also have done 4 Star Clipper cruises which are on sailing ships also and go to the small ports and islands Carnival does not. This is not as upscale as Windstar but I enjoyed it and cabins are smaller but they have cruises with no single supplement. In January I am sailing them to Costa Rica and Nicaragua on the Pacific coast. The best thing about both is with such small numbers service is amazing and people are easy to meet and enjoy sharing experiences. Wish I could do more of these but cost and covid have been tough but I do plan and try to do at least one of these each year and Carnival will be my choice for the rest of the year. I have done three Carnival cruises this year and another planned in December. Whatever you all choose hope you have calm winds and smooth seas.
  18. I was there in May and June and easily accessed George's both times, talked to the guard at the gate and just need to show your sign/sail card and the souvenir shops were also open. The guard was glad to see people coming and had no issues walking in and out as I would get a few Kaliks and go back to my lounger and will admit I made the walk more than once. Quite a few of my fellow cruisers were also visiting this little area.
  19. I always take a cooler off ship when at HMC and never were asked about it and same for Princess Cay. At Princess Cay they do not have Ultra so I take some off ship and then go to George's Bar for Kalik.
  20. Born and still live in Oak Ridge and agree what a great place to grow up. Changes have come but if you come back you will still recognize the "old" Oak Ridge. Safe Travels.
  21. I was there in late March and they were open and only had a beer but seems like they are up and running. My impression is they have more room between tables than Krazy Lobster.
  22. Been on two cruises in last month and both times it was the koozie that slips around a can.
  23. Just off the Elation and last month had the P/D party and this week received the two drink voucher. If I had a choice I would accept the two drink voucher and be happy with that. At least I got to experience that once.
  24. The yogurt parfait in the MDR at breakfast is so good I now eat breakfast in MDR when it is open.
  25. I just got off the Elation Thursday and picked up the paper copy at the coffee shop each morning on deck 9 which is next to the Punchliner Comedy club. Did not bring home but you can get one there each morning with lists of what is going on that day. Enjoy your cruise.
