Don't Pass on Galveston Grandeur
Jingerwoppy replied to 1Texansgo's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We were on in May this year and had some issues. Very short-staffed as everyone noticed (a few crew told us they were having trouble getting staff rehired) but the Windjammer ran out of items several times (and was very crowded), MDR food has been better, and we only had 2 shows out of the 5 nights. Crew was friendly as stated and I can't ever recall having any issues with a crew member. Still not a terribly bad cruise, just interesting and odd. I think others have also pointed out the odd feeling. -
We are cruising out of Galveston on Allure the first week of December (7 nights) and on Radiance in January (10 nights) of next year. When I purchased the internet package online, the purchase process flow online was different with different screens and different information requested. The Allure cruise has been fully paid but the Radiance cruise hasn't. Think that's why the process was different?

Almost lost our non-refundable OBC

At 7pm on our last day, $100 obc appeared on our account. We had no idea where it came from and guest services couldn't tell us either. Fretted about how to spend it on the last night and like several others wound up with a nice watch. -
New terminal in Galveston Texas - Progress

UTMB is across the street from the new terminal. I believe Port of Galveston Parking is several blocks away. -
Leaving a cruise early???
Jingerwoppy replied to cruisetorelax44's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It would be a shame if you were "feeling very sick" and needed to get off early...... -
I see the new terminal is about 75% complete. Wonder if the first cruise from there will be Nov 13th as planned. I don't think I'd want to be part of that first check-in run.

Another NCL change that I hope Royal doesn't follow

I'm good with it as long as lobster is on the menu every night! 🙂 -
Anyone ever hear any tales about someone running into a ghost on an RCI cruise ship?

What happens when the line cancels?

They hold your money as long as they think they can get away with it and eventually pay you after continuous responses that it will appear on your credit card in 7 days. -

Brief Review - Adventure of The Seas - July 2-7

We got a private photo session and they said it was for our anniversary. The shoot was interesting but then as stated above the costs were very high especially since we they implied it was complementary (should have known it wasn't when the biggest thing we ever win is a keychain). I take pretty good pictures and can do all that here plus get them special printed a lot cheaper. -
Jogging trail on Grandeur of the seas.

Ship is so small it goes thru the Windjammer right past the buffets. -
Purchasing watches on a Cruise Ship
Jingerwoppy replied to meapya's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've checked onboard prices and they don't seem to be much better than onshore retail if at all. I did buy a Bulova Marine Star onboard because we had $100 in onboard credited placed on our account the last afternoon of a cruise (we asked customer service where it came from and they didn't know so they told us to use it - odd). When I checked onshore later, it was within $1 of Amazon. My everyday watch is a fairly basic g-shock and has been since about 1985. Currently have one that syncs the time via satellite every night and has all the time zones. The current watch is only my 3rd g-shock and I got it about 12 years ago. -
Comedian on Grandeur of Seas, 15 August 2022
Jingerwoppy replied to JOHN 57's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Probably at least 1 but we were on in May. I believe we had a comedienne 1 night and it was so so. No opening night show at all. Entertainment was disappointing - 1 night it was only the movie. -
Can Drink Vouchers be Used for Canned Soda
Jingerwoppy replied to cruzsnooze's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We were on Liberty in Jan and Apr and Grandeur in May of this year. I used all my vouchers for canned sodas and most of my wife's vouchers for the same since she drinks mostly water. Cans were available at each bar and they also gave them to me at dinner. A few times (in the MDR) they didn't charge my card so I was able to get an extra soda. -
Looks like Starlink had been installed on Freedom of the Seas and RCI is looking to add it to other ships with government approval. It will speed up the internet on the ships. Any bets on how high the new internet prices will go?

I wonder if they only start enforcing show up times when the lines start getting longer?

Royal and pre cruise testing

Just saw an article that says more ships are returning with green status so saying bye bye to pre-cruise testing is hoepfully coming.
