  1. Not possible to answer immediately. What is your first destination in Europe - the easiest is to buy a SIM card on arrival in Europe. The answer also depends on what you are going to use your phone for - is it only data roaming or is it also phone calls to specific countries. Not really Norwegian Fjords related question - you might want to start a new topic on the subject and provide a bit more information and get better advice.
  2. Thanks for a nice description and nice pictures. Something is missing in your link to Amalienborg. I have added a few links to more information about Amalienborg and Rosenborg Castles Amalienborg https://www.kongernessamling.dk/en/amalienborg/ https://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/planning/amalienborg-palace-gdk492887 Rosenborg Castle https://www.kongernessamling.dk/en/rosenborg/ https://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/planning/rosenborg-castle-gdk410582
  3. ETIAS is not an EU but Schengen Area arrangement. Ireland is not part of Schengen - hence no need for ETIAS when visiting Ireland. All EU countries are not part of Schengen and some non EU countries are. The list of countries you provided does not include Ireland either.
  4. Already many good answers. Many cruise lines have good itineraries to Norwegian Fjords. Make sure that itinerary includes deep fjords. Best ports in deep fjords are Geiranger, Flåm, Olden and Skjolden (prioritized) - possibly Eidfjord. Best Coastal cities to visit are Bergen, Stavanger, Ålesund. Many itineraries does include very small or less interesting ports. Some cruises are Arctic Circle crossing cruises to North Cape (Honningsvåg) and Lofoten Islands. For the deep fjords the size of ship doesn’t matter - even the biggest cruise ship can navigate the deep fjords, Please note that navigating the deep fjords to Geiranger and Flåm will be drastic reduced from 2026 when ‘zero emission zones’ are introduced in the UNESCO heritage fjords. Have a close look at the itinerary and research the ports. If you want something different look at Hurtigruten / Havila Voyages.
  5. Actually not an EU requirement - it is a ‘Schengen Area’ requirement - not all EU countries are member if Schengen - an example is Ireland where ETIAS will not be required- in addition ETIAS is required for Norway and Iceland. You’ll need a ETIAS travel authorization if only visiting one Schengen country on your cruise - is valid in three years for all Schengen countries.
  6. Guidelines on cph.dk are quite clear - however not my experience when I have arrived with SAS from the non-Schengen area - may be different from other destinations. My answer is specific to SAS from USA - my last non-Schengen flight was September last year, procedures may have changed - my next non-Schengen flight to CPH is in October - then I will update if there are any changes. If others have experience with non-Schengen transfer in CPH, they are welcome to update.
  7. Not correct. You’ll arrive by SAS to finger C in CPH - you’ll go straight through passport control into the Schengen departure area - no additional security check - immigration only. If travel in 2024 check if ETIAS travel authorization is required for entry into Schengen area by then. Departure from finger A, B of D. Correct - only immigration. Only a short walk to departure gate. Plenty of time for shopping - CPH has good shopping opportunities as well as some good restaurants.
  8. SAS is operations outside Europe - SAS Connect within Europe - technically not difference. Just make sure your luggage is checked through to your final destination. CPH is a very easy airport for transfer - only one terminal airside - apart from passport control no additional security checks or transportation.
  9. For many travelers, visiting the North Cape is a bucket-list item. It's an opportunity to venture to one of the most remote and extreme points in Europe, providing a sense of adventure and accomplishment. The North Cape, located on the island of Magerøya in Norway, is the northernmost point of the European continent. Standing at the edge of the cliff, you can experience the feeling of being at the "top of Europe," with nothing but the Arctic Ocean stretching out in front of you. The North Cape offers a stunning and unique Arctic landscape with dramatic cliffs and panoramic views of the surrounding sea and islands. The rugged beauty of the area is awe-inspiring and provides a sense of remoteness and tranquility. At the North Cape, there is a visitor center called the North Cape Hall, which offers facilities like restaurants, cafes, and shops. It's a great place to take a break, enjoy a meal, and purchase souvenirs. The Arctic Circle monument i a different monument - not sure if Hurtigruten hast excursions to that monument.
  10. I am not an expert in Copenhagen Card pricing - but you can compare the price with the actual prices - I assume transfer by train. Transfer CPH to Hotel - Adult DKK 30 / child DKK 15 (12 - 15 years) - (3 zones) Transfer Hotel to Cruise terminal - Adult DKK 24 / child DKK 12 (2 zones) Tivoli - adult (8+ years) DKK 155 and children from 3 to 7 years DKK 70. Distance to Tivoli is 1.5 km. If you take the train, it's a long walk from Copenhagen Central to your hotel - you can take the S-train from Central Station to Dybbølbro station (500 m to hotel) Same ticket for all trains and busses. The hotel is a bit isolated by the waterfront, but a walk along the waterfront is highly recommended.
  11. Only one form - it will be valid for all Schengen area entries/countries. It will be valid for three years- no matter which Schengen countries and when. You’ll not be asked to provide a ‘travel plan’ when register for the ETIAS.
  12. A Norwegian fjord cruise might also be ‘child friendly’ - the Flåm Railway in Flåm, Skylift in Olden, viewpoints in Geiranger or the funicular in Bergen. Many small town with farm visits or just relaxing or RIB boat trips.
  13. I believe Barcelona is the best choice - you might also find Mediterranean cruises from Southampton - easy to take a bus from Heathrow to Southampton. Also many western Mediterranean cruises from Venice area. if Venice check location of the port. The option I quoted only possible if you stay overnight at London hotel - making a transfer with two different booking at a London airport is a sure way of failure - if delays or missing luggage you’ll be in trouble.
  14. When flying to the UK, the airline will not worry about ETIAS (once required for travel). The actual registration of the ETIAS will be quite simple, but possible to let a TA do the registration on your behalf. I believe TA’s will know once ETIAS required for travel to the Schengen area. When checking in on a cruise ship visiting Schengen Area , they will check ETIAS in the same way as they have to check visas for travelers where a Schengen visa is required.
  15. The recommended time in LAX is 2.5 to 3 hours - you must ensure that all three flights are on the same PRN (ticket) - otherwise it can become a problem if there is a delay - it is the responsibility of the airline issuing the ticket to get you to your final destination in case of delays. Hope you plan to arrive well in advance of your cruise - delays or lost luggage before a cruise can be stressful.
  16. Many has probably taken a Norwegian Fjords HAL cruise - what do you want to know? Flåm and Geiranger are deep scenic fjords sailings with the Flåm railway and viewpoints Bergen, Ålesund and Stavanger are nice coastal cities with many options Oslo is the capital of Norway and Ulvik I don’t know. in fact two 7 nights cruises from Amsterdam.
  17. I assume that it is not a question of a service dog in the way the question is asked. Moreover, the answers only applies to the Hurtigruten Express route along Norway's west coast - absolutely not possible with Expedition Cruises. This is the first time ever I've heard of someone wanting to take a dog with them on a cruise. Your question is so special that I don't think anyone on Cruise Critic has the answer - those who use Hurtigruten as local transport and could possibly bring a dog are not active here. If you want an answer you better have to contact Hurtigruten at booking@hurtigruten.com
  18. Remember that the big attractions are the scenic entry to the ports Geiranger, Flåm and Olden. I prefer to enjoy the view from the upper decks from sunrise - the fjord sailings takes about 5 hours. Same route in the evening, but then there are many other activities.
  19. yes, there are dog cabins on some ships. I would recommend that you contact Hurtigruten, but it is my opinion that dogs must be brought on board in a cage and that they must only stay in the cabin during sailing - windows cannot be opened. It is possible to air the numden ashore when the ship is in port. Not optimal conditions. The reason for dog cabins is that ships are public transport. NB: Questions are usually answered quickly in this Forum.
  20. Not really CitizenM Radhuspladsen is closer to Rådhuspladsen Metro (Town Hall) and Central station - Hotel Berthel is close to Kgs. Nytorv Metro and most sights (apart from Tivoli) - Hotel Berthel also closer to Langelinie. Direct Metro from Kgs. Nytorv to Airport. From a transport point of view, CitizenM is marginally better - for your days in Copenhagen I would prefer Hotel Berhel.
  21. It depends on what you consider the center to be. It is less than 1 km to the National Theater and 2.5 km to the Munch Museum - Filipstad brygge is next door to Aker Brygge. There is public transport - trams and buses.
  22. You will generally not find possible excursions in the various ports. In ports with longer stops, the ship docks close to the city center and you have time to walk around the city. But most of the 34 stops stops from Bergen to Kirkenes are very short (15 minutes) and no possibility for excursions. The only excursion I think is a must is the North Cape in Honningsvåg - should be booked in advance as it is often sold out - some excursions can be bought on board with a discount. Enjoy the cruise and the scenery and limit the number of excursions. Every day there is a lecture about the areas that are passed.
  23. Very good itinerary - deep scenic fjords - Arctic Circle crossing and nice coastal cities. Three deep fjords - Geiranger, Flåm and Olden Arctic circle crossing to north Cape (Honningsvåg) and Tromsø. Assuming cruise in June/July with Midnight Sun. Nice coastal cities: Bergen and Ålesund - Molde less interesting. Search this forum for your ports - you’ll find many good suggestions.
