  1. I worked in a Level 1 trauma hosptial in the OR. We treated patients from around the world. When I'd introduce myself to the patient, I would try to pronounce the name. If I had no shot whatsoever to get it right, I'd apologize and ask. I found it works in most cases. I'm a Christine that goes by Christy. It I'm waiting for an appointment of on a cruise, I expect to be called Christine. I don't at work. I introduce myself as Christy. I have a mild hearing loss and tell surgeons and staff to call me Christy. I listen for it and can usually hear it in all the background noise. One of my surgeons was calling me Christine and I wasn't answering because I didn't hear it. The accented syllable is different. Even as he said "it is your name, isn't it?" While I understand the OP, I let it slide. Life is too short to worry about what I am called, especially by people I probably won't see again. They can call my Christine all they want as long as they serve my margarita in a timely manner.
  2. That would be the same category my "too short to bee seen in public" shorts that I only wear around the house. 😆
  3. When were walking the Brooklyn Bridge last September, the hubby would walk behind the influencer and scratch his @$$. He always laughed, saying "they'll have to edit that out." Dangit, don't block the pathways or sites to take your stinking gazillion pictures.
  4. I actually prefer to travel with my passport--it's bigger, so it's harder to drop/lose. I always drop my DL. Also, the husband can never find his DL when he takes it out of his wallet and puts it in a pocket. The book is just easier for us.
  5. The NCL Epic had it's casino in one of the main passages on the deck. No way around it if you wanted to walk from one end of the ship to the other, and it was open to other floors. It reeked. I only sailed on it once, never again.
  6. I use Cetafil (sp?) soap and my hands. Neutrogena-type water gel after. Clarins Double serum and sunscreen in the mornings. Makeup on work days, plain face the rest. I buy mark up remover cloths, but never use them.
  7. That kinda makes sense--one night at a higher rate to cover the transportation costs. I'll have to check it all out. I do have plenty of time--our next international cruise isn't until 2025.
  8. Looking at the information for the hotel packages, I only have one question-is the price quoted per person or per couple? If per person, it's *really* expensive. If per couple, it's not bad.
  9. Today's calls were all about a death benefit. When the fourth guy called, I told him he was the 4th. He told me no one passed that on and proceeded to cuss me out. 😲 It's actually quite amusing and allows me to work out frustration on strangers, not coworkers or friends. I'll do it as long as it's fun. The calls come whether we answer or don't.
  10. We had an uneventful trip to my parents. Driving sucked (as it usually does) but we made it without incident. Got Mom's big projects done in three days with DH and DB. BBs kids came and three (and a shanghaied friend) raked and weeded flowerbeds. The oldest niece helped with the biggest project--rebuilding the front porch and adding a rail. DH was the chief architect and builder, niece was first assist, and I was the peon. After DB and DS left, DH and I finished several other projects. We have one happy set of parents, and gave Dad back some mobility. I'm still having fun with the telemarketers. Today's didn't believe me when I said I was 60 and not eligible for Medicare. He had the audacity to tell me that I didn't know my own birthday. 🙄
  11. Well, it's been a crappy work week, but now I'm on vacation. We leave in the morning to drive to my parent's house. My car's all packed except for electronics (and toothbrush). In the meantime, I'm taking out all my stress and arguing with all the telemarketers that want to give my husband free braces for his back and knee pain. I told one of them that he had a pain in his @$$ from all the calls. Then I tell them that we're on the do not call registry and to remove our number. I had one argue with me that the number wasn't on the list. *****?!? Don't you think I'd know if my own number was on the list? It's been a kinda fun way to work off some frustrations. They should learn to never argue with a redhead from Missouri. . . Our 12-year-old neighbor is dog sitting for us. We told her dad to grab anything that ripened in the garden while we're gone. I pulled to purple peppers and a handfull of green beans. See y'all in a week.
  12. My aunt's memorial service will be Tuesday, so I won't make it. I'll just give Mom and extra long hug--she and I are both looking forward to it. My parent's 61st anniversary is this month--the last day we're there. We'll acknowledge, but not celebrate due to Dad's dementia. We're just gonna be unpaid labor for a week.
  13. There has been no news of my Aunt's funeral, so I will not be going. DH (either Dear Husband *or* his actual initials) and I are leaving Thursday to go to my parents for a pre-planned visit, so I'll just give her extra strong/long hugs. I'm alledgedly her favorite kid. We are going to do some things that Dad can't due to his dementia/Alzheimers. My sister and brother will be there for the weekend and we'll be there for the week. We have three planned projects with an additional one to fill her freezer with prepped meals. Still smoky, so I didn't do the yard work I wanted to. I did go get a pedicure and do a few other errands, but so much coughing when I was outside.
  14. Staying inside to avoid the smoky nasty air outside. Got nothing accomplished on my day off because I'd planned to work in the yard. My Dad had dementia. My mother's sister who has been her strongest support in this process had a massive stroke last week and died today. Mom can't go to the funeral (Dad can't travel and she can't/won't leave him). I'm waiting for dates, but if it's Saturday (or even Sunday) I'm going to try to drive the 8 hours to Jacksonville and go just to represent her. If I go, it will be a struggle since we leave Thursday (next week) to drive 800 miles to visit with them. However, Mom is worth it. Loved my Aunt Mary. OOT: Cheershorts that never leave the house/yard and glitter flower-ice-skate shirt. Love my glitter.
  15. We're at Code Red with the air quality. My crappy lungs have stayed inside all day. Since my downstairs reading spot is next to the back door, I've felt it and started coughing almost every time hubby opened the door for the in-out dog. So much for my ourtdoor/yardwork plans on my day off. . . I texted my manager and told her the local weather forecaster told us crap lung folks to stay inside tomorrow. Since I have to go outside twice to go to work, I wasn't coming. Still waiting to see how she responds, especially since she knows I'm always saying crap like this and I'll really be there.
  16. I have two, hubby has none. So no, we don't match. Mine are 'sea you later" and "I haven't been everywhere but it's on my list." I also do door signs related to either the sailing or what we're celebrating.
  17. Waocol (not sure of the spelling) sells several that have a hook that converts regular to racer. I've been happy with them.
  18. My online cruise personalizer says a limit of $15/drink, the app says $12/drink. I'm not worried--the price will probably go up several times in the 845 days to our next planned cruise. 🙄🍹
  19. Oct 2001, pretty danged close to 9/11. Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the seas, Caribbean for my and the ex's 15th anniversay. The captain skirted around Hurricane Michelle in the Gulf, and I swore never again. I've/We've been on Holland, Royal, and Celebrity, but prefer Princess.
  20. I'm beginning to think the sun is never going to shine again. It's been rainy/dreary for the last week or so, but we've gotten less than a half inch of rain. So depressing. I cut out vinyl for nine onsies, one toddler dress, two t-shirts, and a bag today. I have four more onsies to go, with the designs already on my canvas. Soooo many babies coming at work, all boys except one set of twin girls. Most are not first timers, but the twin girls are. We had burgers yesterday (unintentionally) on National Burger Day with my daughter and hers. I made deep dish pizza today. It was so good. One the bright side, we booked our next cruise--it's only 852 days away!
  21. My 6'4" husband would still take his 2/3 out of the middle of the Alaska King, leaving me with a full size baby crib space. 😆
  22. On our last cruise, all the dryers were taken, but one was finished. I folded some guy's clothes and left them on the dryer I took them out of. They were still there when I went back to take mine out. Guess he forgot about them. . .
  23. I have a cough from both chronic lung disease and GERD. I hate the looks I get, but I also usually cough into my elbow or shoulder. We *just* stopped mandatory masks at work, so three years of mostly full time masking wore me out. I got Covid once--work related--but work masks pretty much full time as any chronic lung diseased person would.
  24. I'm 60 and wear skorts all summer long. When it's 90 and the humidity is almost the same, it's one of the coolest options out there.
  25. Maybe you ran into my cousin--she's in NYC celebrating her daughter's 15th birthday.
