  1. in our concierge suite earlier this year we had a pair of binoculars and i thought they worked pretty well. At first we didn't think we had received any and just before we were going to ask for some we found ours hiding way in the back of one of the cupboards, well hidden from normal view. We thought they should be put somewhere easy to find based on the itinerary we were on.
  2. Really no need to criticize how i expressed my opinion. You may think your way is better, and no problem that may be quite true but i don't think you needed to point that out in order to express your opinion. We both said the same thing but in our own way.
  3. Absolutely gorgeous pictures. Thanks for them and for taking us along.
  4. I am a bit skeptical about the answer. I think it might be true if the air credit does not change from the time you booked until the time you decide but if the price of the cruise and the air credit both increase i wonder if you might be charged the new air credit not the one you originally turned down. I could be totally wrong but in this age of big increases in prices i hesitate to think that Regent will use the original air credit if there is a significant increase. For example if the air credit when you booked is $3000 pp and then when you decide you want the air after all and the air credit is now $4000, i think they will charge you the $4000. Just my opinion.
  5. We had a visit from tropical storm Hilary overnight and at least in our area things have improved. We can actually see more than just across the street. Hopefully the rain reached farther north and provided some much needed relief to the firefighters and people affected.
  6. Great cheese and the countryside is lovely as well. Wine not too bad either.
  7. I hope so too. We are doing our best to stay positive and hope the fires don't turn in our direction. My apologies to janecambridge for hijacking her thread. Thanks to everyone for their kind comments.
  8. We live on the mountain side overlooking Okanagan Lake and we can barely see across the road to our neighbors as the smoke is so thick. However this is nothing compared to the many who have lost their homes and businesses.
  9. Yes, i am afraid it is very ugly in our beautiful valley right now. So far we have been lucky and only suffered the horrible air quality but are keeping a close eye on winds etc and ready to evacuate on short notice. My guess is they will fly you to Vancouver from Calgary because if they are concerned about the train, i wouldn't think they want to bus you. That may depend on how many people are involved and Regent finding accomadation in Vancouver for the extra nights. Sorry you have missed the train. The scenery is quite beautiful. Have a wonderful cruise.
  10. In letters/emails from Regent they suggested that you look for availability of the lowest business class fare seats as those are the seats that Regent contracts. If you are checking flight options and all the airline is showing are full fare or refundable business class seats available there is a good chance that Regent will not have any contracted seats available on that flight. You have a better chance of getting what you want if you suggest only itineraries that have non-refundable or lowest business class fares showing as available. The refundable vs non-refundable is not about canceling, it is all about the chance of Regent having seats available on that itinerary.
  11. For me it doesn't eliminate my concern. I think i could find an equal number of people who couldn't get their desired excursions after waiting until the morning to do so. Due to a problem with my account in the past i have had to wait to book the following morning and had issues getting everything i wanted. We cruise specifically for the ports and excursions. Unlike what seems to be a large number of people on this forum we don't have the luxury of cruising multiple times a year and are not re-doing ports that we have been to before. Therefore our shore excursion choices are very important to us. So if i go with the 'everything should be okay theory' and wait until i get up in the morning and can't get the shore excursions i want it will be 1 more nail in the coffin of reconsidering Regent for the future. We cruise with Regent for the all inclusiveness but the price is getting to be too much if we aren't getting what we want. After our less than stellar last cruise in Jan/Feb the value is getting questionable. The only saving grace to that cruise was that we spent 3 days in Antartica. We still considered it our worse Regent cruise though we did not regret going. It is disappointing but i do understand that Mike is working with a lot of moving pieces and can only do the best he can. This timing sucks particularly bad because our 1 and only cruise next year has the booking window open the very next day after the switch over so we are stuck with 4 am. Maybe i can hope for a computer challenge and they have to delay a couple more days. 😉 PS In case some think i am being overly negative, I was up until 3 am packing and organizing our stuff because we are near a wildfire that is out of control and has jumped across a lake to our side, Our city is under a state of emergency with numerous evacuation orders near us so maybe a bit on the cranky side.
  12. I for one think the new time sucks. That is 4 am for those of us on the west coast so we are definitely disadvantaged when booking. You seriously couldn't find a better time than changing from 8 pm to 7 am EDT.
  13. Thanks for bringing us along Susan. Pictures and commentary wonderful as always. Have a great cruise.
  14. If you want a table for 2 and are particular about what time you eat you may want to go online as soon as reservations open. If you are more flexible with the time and are open to shared tables it probably isn't as crucial. I always book on the first day when reservations open because we like to to for dinner between 6:30 and 7:00 though we are always open to share a table.
  15. I didn't think the deviation fee became non-refundable but just a $75 fee for talking to Regent Air. If you accept the flights then you just pay the additional $100 for a total of $175 which is the deviation fee. if you decide not to deviate, the $75 is forfeited. If you cancel a cruise whether before or after the penalty period begins, the deviation fee is non-refundable.
  16. Believe it still has to be done before you leave the ship at least that was the case with us in Feb and i haven't read of anyone saying there has been a change.
  17. We flew into BA with Regent this past January and we landed at EZE.
  18. Thanks for posting the video. This maybe the closest i get to seeing the Splendor.
  19. Looking forward to any and all live threads that both of you (WNcruiser & What a Market) might do. Thanks in advance.
