Live from Majestic Princess - 20th October 2022
Pushka replied to arxcards's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I read that it might be delayed as staff are doing a deep clean which makes perfect sense. -
I'm on a dedicated blood thinner Xarelto, kind of like warfarin, as I have an auto immune illness that makes me throw random DVT's. I had one in my internal jugular vein. It is listed on the TGA contraindications for the main anti viral. I understand aspirin etc are perfectly fine but the medical people will check if you ever need the antivirals.

It's not just cruises but travel in general. Everyone I know who has travelled overseas has come back with covid despite precautions. And all recovered quickly without antivirals. It's interesting reading the Viking cruises whose ships are starting to wind their way south to Australia. Suddenly after months of 'what is covid' life, they are facing testing and restrictions and given there are no covid testing requirements coming to Australia by plane, are finding it all rather ridiculous the requirements of cruise passengers. I can't take the antiviral anyway as I'm on blood thinners.

New behavior patterns on Viking Ocean since COVID?
Pushka replied to CCWineLover's topic in Viking Ocean
I suffer from badly swollen ankles. I would never sit with elevated legs on anything other than a stool. At night time I usually put a cushion under the end of the bed. I wouldn't expect anyone to see my feet raised unless I'm on a lounger. -
Thanks. That's who we are booking with on Mars for Passage to India next May. Any other tips about this cruise? We are going Mumbai to Athens. Looks fabulous.

I think you are on Passage to India which is the one we are on. We are very lucky in Australia as it's an eVisa. I understand Canadians also have the same issue as UK citizens. I really hope you can get it sorted. I think it might also need to be for a year visa as it's more than 30 days out. We are thinking of getting ours sorted anyway. Also, did you see the itinerary change. We are now going to Saudi Arabia. That requires a visa. Costs over $AUD 220 a person! 🤬. And only one night in Athens.

Next time it comes to Athens we will be on it. Next year though.

Well, when I saw you were active again on the cruise forum I couldn't help but join in 😁. Wonderful to be seeing people on cruises again. Hopefully Covid doesn't cause too many issues for people though. Covid. Caught it not on a cruise but in the UK. Very very mild. In fact only knew I had it as I was a close contact. Off my husband. Caught it from him I assume but 8 days later after his positive.

"jumping ship" to a new cruise line

When they had to cancel Japan this month there would have been some great deals. The ship currently has less than 100 passengers aboard and it has a capacity of 900. -

Very adult.😂 We have completed an Alaskan Cruise pre Covid, and will do Passage to India next year for 21 days, which has been booked out for over a year. Very much decorated in Swedish/Norwegian style. Simple and very classy. Wonderful food. Not a Ra Ra kind of ship though if you like that. Nothing in your face. Things like heated floors in the bathrooms. Quality soaps etc. large bathrooms. The mini bars are replenished with snacks every day, the suites their alcohol is replenished. Free washing machines and dryers with soaps. We also have booked a River Cruise for Christmas 2023 and Circumnavigation of Iceland in 2024. I would also still cruise on Celebrity. Not sure about HAL. Never Carnival. -

I've tried a few new. RCL, Princess, Celebrity, Cunard and Viking. My favourites are Celebrity and Viking but they are vastly different. Itinerary is also really important. I don't tend to do Australian cruises. We don't tend to go to the shows as much. Viking is adults only, no photographers, casinos nor art shows. Alcohol etc is included with meals and generous pours. A much quieter experience. Beautiful amenities. Things like beautiful rugs draped on every chair. Wonderful food and specialty restaurants are free. -
Australians don't get a vaccination card and they are certainly travelling on Viking. We only have digital certificates.
