  1. I prefer Azamara's classical nautical decor to Oceania's IKEA look. Nothing wrong with Oceania's decor, but every ship lately looks exactly the same [Viking of course; Celebrity; etc.] In fact I most prefer the Gen 1 Renaissance ships that Noble Caledonia still sails, with even darker, shinier wood finishes – it really takes me back to the golden age of ocean liners!
  2. If it was from Perry Golf that would be okay. It if was from a travel agent, no.
  3. Everyone on Onward please order a glass of tonic every chance you get. You don’t have to drink it, just use up the bloody supply!
  4. New article on Cruise Industry News: Ponant Expands with Key Executive Hires These new executive hires are based in New York and Seattle – more emphasis on North American customers?
  5. Depends on customer acceptance. How would the guy who reached the top luxury level [on some cruise line, forget where I read this] by sailing only Insides like this new threshold? OTOH, even the cheapest fare gets you some fresh air if you are quarantined.
  6. True. I was lucky [but also part of the decision] to work at the only Law School that was/is all-Mac. We let those who demanded Windows run it on their Mac desktops, but our IT guys looked down their noses at them. [Most of our IT department were Greeks; re-reading the part about 'looked down their noses' we should have hired French!!!]
  7. F1? You mean P1? If it's one of the aft-facing verandas, that should be a really nice cabin! And I understand your attitude: as my wife and I say, Covid took 2 years out of our travel window but our 'sell by' date didn't change!
  8. Someone on a Port forum blithely said you have to do a land tour to visit Argostoli Greece – until I showed him my Azamara itinerary that calls there on October 15. Azamara regularly has uniquely-intensive itineraries, but thanks to the deletion of Venice this particular cruise got better and better!
  9. Is Reykjavik the end of the cruise? Then you can spend as much time in Iceland as you like. [And they won't have people complaining that they missed their flights if the ship is delayed for some reason.]
  10. Ah, that's where you went wrong in life. 🤣 [Me? All Apple, all the time, since 1984.]
  11. Yes, green. White asparagus isn't that big a thing in the US.
  12. @notamermaid I'm sorry that yesterday's anniversary brought you sadness. Meanwhile, at dinner tonight [Maine lobster and asparagus over farfalle with cream sauce - delicious!] I noticed this sculpture on the wall of the restaurant – and of course thought of you!
  13. French Balconies are very common on River Ships – and in fact that is my favorite category on those cruises because they don't steal useable space from the cabin but still give the full view and fresh air opportunities. It will be interesting to see how they are received on Vista – they may make 'ocean views' obsolete!
  14. I don't even have a clue how to pronounce "Ynys Mon" !!! We had a lovely private tour from Holyhead [Ogwen Valley, Cym Idwal hike, lunch at The Ugly House Tearoom, etc.] in 2018, but I couldn't pronounce anything in Welsh...
  15. @DENIE thanks for the review, which has now been pruned of the off-topic drama.
  16. It's funny, because when Atlas debuted they touted the Orlando flights as a big improvement over everybody else's flights from BA. ⁉️
  17. Back to the original question: my experience is that trying to run 1800 watts through a voltage converter will cause the converter to heat up quite dramatically. If I were determined to have a hair dryer of my choice on a European trip, I would just buy a 220 volt appliance in Europe.
  18. Anyone who has read Cruise Critic for a long time already knew that flying in the day of a cruise is rolling the dice – in good times or bad. So if this is news, you are not doing your homework.
  19. I was going to ask how you are enjoying Florida, but I think you have already answered my question! 😀
  20. Please fix your CAPS LOCK key. Posting in CAPS is considered SHOUTING and is a Guideline Violation.
  21. Those all sound like outside terms to me. 'Tour' is the only safe one.
  22. My guess is that the more you love Celebrity [in its current Edge-y state] the less you will like Azamara, and vice versa. Azamara is classic country club luxury. The CW suites are nicely laid out [separate bedroom and living room with full dining table; wrap-around veranda that offers a choice of sun or shade almost all day; pass-through bathroom that allows guests easy access to the toilet part while keeping your personal items private on the shower/vanity side], and decorated in classic dark woods with big comfy couch and chairs – the opposite of the modern '50 shades of off-white' and furniture so hard it's painful to sit down. Also the Azamara ships are small enough that even from the very back nothing is too far away.
