  1. I can highly recommend this company - We hate tourism tours... https://www.wehatetourismtours.com/
  2. @Ocean Boy The posters in this thread keep me [relatively] sane during this ongoing nightmare, giving everyday life a semblance of normalcy -- birthdays, weddings, graduations, even a laser op or, G-d forbid, an accident. And, yesterday evening our local time, President Biden gave me and many many others a glimmer of hope, for which we're all very thankful. Hopefully, he will succeed in this mission 🤞.
  3. +1 Karen 👍 @Keksie +1 George @George C +1 Dave @Tree_skier +1 Bethany, and all the Texans @TravelGirlinDallas ************************************************************************************************ @Ocean Boy OB, Happy Birthday 🥂💐 I wish you could combine your love of practicing medicine with your love of cruising more than once a year
  4. Hi JC, and thank you for this "semi-live" 😁, I would be grateful if you could find me any info re: transfers from Ravenna to Bologna train station (that is -- if you cruise ends in Ravenna), especially hours of depart. There are no direct flights from Bologna or Venice to Israel, our only option is Milan. Plan to spend the debarkation day in a B&B in Bologna, and then take the train to Milan airport. Check in at the B&B is at 3PM, aiming to leave the ship as later as possible.... Thanks in advance 🌺, Dani
  5. @Coralc Pat, kindle is on "sale" - 10.99$. @h20skibum Mark, you picked my interest. On Amazon it has raving reviews, 76% gave it 5*. Waiting for your "verdict" and noted it in my list. I'm not sure that in my current "mood" I'll read it in the next couple of months. Seems a serious and important subject. Lately, I've read lots of Nora Roberts' romantic novels for a light mood and to cheer me up -- Identity and Whiskey Beach were excellent, as well as Sophie Kinsella's "Party crasher"....
  6. @h20skibum Mark + 3 💐 🥂 @helen haywood Marian, glad you've enjoyed your evening "out" and that your faithful nurses, Minnie & Diana, are good at their "day job" 😉 We had M&S in Israel for only a short period. I like their product. Being on the short size, I really appreciate that I can find trousers exactly for my height, without bothering to pay for corrections... And thank you for the history lesson. Hopefully, we'll have the opportunity to visit. We both like England!!
  7. + 2 💐 Bethany @TravelGirlinDallas *************************************************************************************** @sgmn Sue, I don't want to "interfere" with @twangster 's thread, so here's our day in Cobh (Cork) -- The train station to Cork is right at the pier. We took the train into Cork, walked to the English Market, had time to browse at Marks & Spencer (which you still have in UK 😉), coffee break, and then took the bus to Kinsale. Wandered about this small and quaint place for less than an hour, took the bus back to Cork, and the train to the pier. Had still time to walk to the Cathedral there and took our sweet time to re-board the ship.
  8. I've just finished posting here when the air raid alarm was sound.... again. I couldn't believe my ears and had a hard time convincing DH that it is a "real" one and we should rush to the shelter. It doesn't end. So many casualties on both sides and, after almost 8 months of war, we're back to square one 😢 Just yesterday I was thinking about you, Mimi, and you had me worried that you didn't post anywhere for more than a month. So very sorry about your unfortunate fall. Sincerely hope you'll be back real soon to your usual self. Glad you've at least got to enjoy your granddaughter wedding. Heartfelt congratulations and Mazal Tov 💐
  9. + 1 Mark @SteelCityCruiser10 + 1 Deb @Momof3gurlz + 2 John @Ozark_Kid ******************************************************************************************** DH, in the perpetual quest to "diversify" his "repertoire", please welcome .... "lahmajun" Lahmacun, Lahmajun, or Lahmadjo, is a Middle Eastern flatbread topped with minced meat, minced vegetables, and herbs including onions, garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, and parsley, flavored with spices such as chili pepper and paprika, then baked. Very tasty.
  10. Thank you so much for this information. Much appreciated ! If I may another question -- did you book the transfer before or during the cruise?
  11. Thank you for a riveting review. Like your sense of humor, and glad you remained employed 👍
  12. + 2 @Luckynana BTW, aussie @aussielozzie18 , we missed your posts and pictures lately. Glad to see you "back" 🌺 @h20skibum Mark, we found ourselves mortified when hearing words from our young kids, words never uttered in our house...they pick so much from kindergarten and primary school, and not for the best...
  13. As far as I remember, Dave, "my" thread was never moved to the Float Away Lounge, though its original name was changed when Covid seemed no longer an issue.
  14. I'm also interested in the shuttle to Bologna train station, may be we can find a private transfer together if not?
  15. @NHProud Good luck to Steve on his cataract surgery, and to Maryann ( @Luckynana) on her laser surgery 🌺
  16. @helen haywood May be not actually his muse, Marian, but his "sous-chef" in charge of keeping up with the mess he's producing, along with excellent meals.... Half of our "good" cutlery is missing....😢 Speaking of excellent meals, DS1 and I were just "gossiping" among ourselves on our flight back from Bucharest -- we went to 3 recommended restaurants on the 3 evenings we were there, aiming for Romanian specialties, and were thoroughly disappointed. Only the last evening the meal was OK. We are "spoiled rotten" by his cooking.... Interesting that suicide is "forbidden" in both faiths.... If a Jew is taking his own life, he's buried "outside" the cemetery's fence.... That's exactly what I was talking with my cousin (living in Germany). The moment he's selling his parent's apartment (my uncle and aunt), he'll stop coming to Bucharest. At least, Sue, your son(s) live in the same country, not like us, half in Israel and half in Germany.
