  1. Actual rates from the company I've recommended above -- Flat official rate of taxi - from FCO to Rome hotel - 48 Euro. Private transfer from FCO to Rome hotel - 49 Euro per car for 2 pax. Private transfer from Rome hotel to Civitavecchia check in - 119 Euro per car for 2 pax. The rates of the private transfer include one piece of luggage and one carry on pp. Our hotel charges 50 Euro for a car which will wait for us (same as the private transfer). For the difference of one Euro, we prefer to take the hotel's transfer. Same for the transfer to port -- the hotel charges 130 Euro vs. 119 Euro for the private transfer. Again, we prefer the hotel just for the comfort. Even though we travel with carry on only, we'll never consider schlepping ourselves to Termini, board the train (stairs, no stairs?), then take a taxi to the port entrance, and then wait for the free shuttle to the check in. We're on vacation.
  2. @A&L_Ont Happy Cinco de mayo birthday to Owen, an easy date to remember, as well as Lisa's and yours ๐Ÿ˜‰. Only "piece" missing is Lucy's one ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ˜˜ @Luckynana And happy birthday to your twin daughters too, Maryann ๐Ÿ˜˜ ๐Ÿ’
  3. In the "shuk" [bazaar] near the terminal, I bargained [hard] in Euros. The prices weren't even mentioned in Turkish lira.
  4. Try getting in contact with the Great Synagogue. When we went looking for a visit, we saw that you can enter only by appointment, due to security reasons. The staff needs to check you out before granting access. Another option is contact Micaela and see if she can tailor your tour accordingly -- https://www.jewishroma.com/
  5. Self assist, no customs, just go out. 08.30 will give you plenty of time. If you're an early riser, even 7 ๐Ÿ˜ I can highly recommend this company, no need to pay in advance -- https://www.civitavecchiacabservice.com/
  6. From the pharmacy's reviews [from the last week] -- We went here to get COVID testing done the day before we travelled back to the US (which is still required). We stopped by a couple days before to see if a reservation was required and confirmed that there was not. So we went the day before we were leaving back to the US (around 10:30am) and we were in and out (3 people) within 20 min. The staff was very polite and friendly and the cost for testing was 22 Euros per person. We received an email with official documents confirming negative results within an hour or two. I was then able to upload the results to Delta's website during the online check process and received our boarding passes a couple hours later. It's definitely well worth it vs trying to do the testing at the FCO airport last minute. Just make sure you confirm their testing hours beforehand so you can plan ahead. Perfect spot for my COVID-19 test to return to USA. I had my results emailed to me within 30 minutes. The test adheres to all requirements for re entry back into USA. Very kind service, and there was no wait time for me. Highly recommended! We did our rapid Covid test to show for our flight back to the U.S. The staff was excellent in their process. In & out in 10 minutes. Results within the next 20 minutes๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  7. We also depart on Monday June 13rd on Beyond. Landing in Rome Saturday evening [the plan was to test in Israel Saturday morning]. Found 2 pharmacies open on Sunday and performing the tests -- Near the Pantheon (were we'll be staying): * Farmacia Tor Millina, Via Tor Millina,6 * Farmacia della Scrofa, Piazza Cardelli, 6/6a.
  8. The vaccinated and un-vaccinated will be tested at the terminal... "WE" are the chosen ones โ˜น๏ธ Pre-Arrival/Embarkation Covid-19 Test Up to Date* Guests: Must present a negative Antigen test taken within 1 day prior to sailing. Testing at the terminal will not be required.
  9. 2013 -- We paid 60 Euros for 3 hours. As I said, we walked a bit outside the terminal, where there was a very long line of taxis looking for a fare. Bargained [I'm from Middle East ๐Ÿ˜‰...]. He took us to Ephesus, we gave him money for the tickets, he skipped the line, and showed us where he'll be waiting for us after one and a half hour. It was very hot that day, so we actually finished in less time, and just people "watched" (Genuine Fake "watches" shops too). Might have had time for the Virgin Mary's house too, but hubby wanted back to the AC... On our way to the ship, the driver, although I told him "no shopping, no carpets, NO", tried to convince me otherwise. Couldn't get his head around "a lady who doesn't like shopping"... but I was adamant.
  10. Just check how many ships in port with yours. And take into consideration worse come to worse -- 2 hours to get down to the tenders. We were many ships in port that day. We got out early, booked the transfer to Oia, wandered there when it was still quite empty (and cool, don't forget that the Med in the summer is HOT), and took the 11AM bus to Thira. We had an "all aboard" of 4.30PM, and when we saw to queue (it was past noon when we got to Thira), decided that it was HOT and might as well go back to ship and queued. For US, Oia was the highlight.... YMMV ๐Ÿ˜
  11. I can highly recommend Joe Banana's tours -- my vote would be for a tour which includes Positano and Ravello - just stunning. https://www.joebananalimos.net/ For Ephesus -- We went outside the terminal, and hired a taxi by ourselves (Virgin Mary's house). No shopping and no carpet demonstrations. Payment -- AFTER the tour.
  12. @sgmn Sue? SUE !!! Would you believe it??? It was changed again to 1 day testing.... Pls. wait before switching back to late arrival to Rome... it can change tomorrow again ๐Ÿ˜‰ As of today, May 3rd, it was changed BACK to one day.... Italy (Ravenna and Civitavecchia) Travel Requirements as of May 3, 2022 Pre-Arrival/Embarkation Covid-19 Test Up to Date* Guests: Must present a negative Antigen test taken within 1 day prior to sailing. Testing at the terminal will not be required. Curious what tomorrow will bring... 15 hours???๐Ÿ˜
  13. Up to Date* Guests: Must present a negative Antigen test taken within 2 days prior to sailing. Testing at the terminal will not be required. 14. I don't know if my reply will help you, but I went to check if my Israeli passport was stamped when I left Italy. Yes, stamped both on arrival and on departure. I was there 4 days... That was flying in and out. I've just checked my DH Israeli passport for when we left from Civitavecchia. No stamp.
  15. Thank you so much for updating. Since the "season" just started, I was wondering when we'll see a feedback about the "situation" with the "speedboat"....
  16. Santorini For scenic photos - Oia. There used to be a company/companies ferrying you from the tender port of Thira to Oia. That will be ideal. From the port of Oia, they provide a bus up to Oia, you'll have free time to wander, and then, included also in the rate, a bus to Thira/Fira. There is also a cable car up to Thira, and from there you could take a bus/taxi to Oia. Before Covid, there was a huge queue to go up. Depends on how many ships in port. Mykonos -- I'd do it a "beach" day. I'd suggest asking on Greece ports forum too, look for reviews from before Covid to give you an idea -- https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/463-greece-ports/

  18. @Preacherman46 No worries. If they don't have shekels at the GS, dollars and euros are widely accepted, as well as credit cards. For the past 2 years, those currencies were at a record low vs. the shekel, but now, with the new interest policies in US, the dollar has gained strength. ATMs are also to be found. On the 1st excursion, just ask the guide to stop at one of them. Enjoy your visit in the Holy Land !!
  19. The requirement to use FFp2 masks remains for: aircraft used for commercial passenger transport services ships and ferries used for interregional transport services trains used in interregional, Intercity, Intercity Night and High Speed passenger rail transport services buses used for passenger transport services, with undifferentiated offer, carried out on the road in a continuous or periodic manner on a route connecting more than two regions and having routes, schedules, frequencies and prices predetermined buses used for rental services with driver vehicles used in local or regional public transport services means of school transport dedicated to primary school, lower secondary school and secondary school students performances open to the public that take place indoors in theatres, concert halls, film theatres, live music and entertainment venues and other assimilated venues, and sporting events and competitions that take place indoors. And from "Dr. Google" ๐Ÿ˜ FFP2 and N95 masks are quite similar in regards to filtration effectiveness. The key difference is FFP2 follows the European EN 149 standard, while N95 follows the American NIOSH standard. FFP2 must filter at least 94% of airborne particles, while N95 must filter at least 95%.
  20. Thank you. That's a "tricky" one if "buses" qualify as "minivans", or "vehicles" qualify as "taxis"....
