  1. It's best to bring cash. If you charge your gaming funds to your on-board account, they charge 6 or 7% which is hard to overcome when the odds already favor the house.
  2. It may have been 6%, but that's too much too. We played less than we normally do because of this.
  3. No photographers trying to sell you pictures, slowing down embarkation. They do set up a free photobooth/mirror at various times around the ship. The pics are emailed to you. No dress code, meaning nobody can complain that someone's wearing shorts in the dining room like they do on other lines. No announcements interrupting your day. Incredible menus that make you want to try things you've never had before. Genuinely friendly crew. Excellent musicians, and performers everywhere you look. For the most part, no lines. Attention to details. It's all in the details.
  4. When we tried to book a disembarkation time on the app, there were no more time slots left, so we walked off leisurely around 10am. No one questioned a thing. We were on the curb waiting for a LYFT in minutes.
  5. The roll calls for VV are hardly active at all.....the average sailor on VV probably has never even heard of Cruise Critic before. They are attracting many first time cruisers. Something I applaud them for.
  6. Get the shrimp at the Dock.....it's AMAZING. (all the dishes at the Dock are great!)
  7. Everyone has a different take on things, and I'm sorry that the cruise wasn't enjoyable for you. We didn't experience any of the problems you mention, and have cancelled our bookings on other lines.
  8. Wait until you have it on board at Extra Virgin!
  9. Virgin also came in 4th "Best for Couples", and 2nd for "Best in Caribbean" https://travel.usnews.com/cruises/
  10. One of my friends is an officer with a luxury line, and she was really curious to know what I thought about our 9 days on the Scarlet Lady.
  11. Great plans. This is the way to do it if flying in the first day if you have to. We found ourselves doing this quite a bit from ATL to FLL when sailing out of Port Everglades.
  12. That's usually the only thing available with these smaller islands. As a kid this is how we flew into St. Thomas before they extended the runway to handle bigger planes.
  13. They say everything happens for a reason and this story definitely falls into the "meant to be" category! Read on to see how Madeline and Colton's honeymoon-gone-wrong turned into a chance meeting with @RichardBranson and a whirlwind voyage on us Buckle up, it's about to get wild: https://www.facebook.com/virginvoyages/posts/pfbid0wKyefCMFqmiN6hvefNVwp3dRrfPgWUXZf3B9D9YRx5kVxtdVRVoC4qjvjxNCeP5gl
  14. If you are in no rush, we recently flew in to FLL, took a Lyft to the new Brightline Train Station, booked 1st class for the short trip to Miami. Our fare also gave us the option to include a free ride in a Tesla to anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the station. https://www.gobrightline.com/ https://youtu.be/U-XQm_LOerA
  15. We stayed in Brickell a few weeks ago at the Novotell. Great, quiet location, with a Publix just across the street. (made to order subs from their deli is much cheaper than any restaurant nearby) In the morning we walked up to 8th for fresh bagels....they were fresh, but bread-like, not chewy enough. A New Yorker wouldn't be happy. We felt safe the entire time.
  16. FYI: During our recent trip to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, we found LYFT to be much cheaper than Uber.
  17. Well, at least it got sorted out quickly. Other lines can take months to rectify problems like this.
  18. As someone who used to sell wholesale and write wine lists in the 80s in Palm Beach area, keeping vintages accurate is nearly impossible unless the venue buys bulk in advance and stores it themselves. During a recent sailing on another line, I ordered the same wine 3 times, (a Grand Reserva Rioja), and each time it was a different vintage.
  19. If it's only a 4-5 day sailing, I honestly think you'll be fine with one tab between the two of you.
