  1. Yes, some of the shows are very mediocre, except for when they have magicians jugglers and comedians, then they are poor.
  2. Perhaps they should have open theatre as well.
  3. Patrick Watts is Adventure Falklands. IMO, Latam service and entertainment is not as good as Qantas but I suppose you get what you pay for.
  4. Well I partly agree, partly disagree. Yes you need to book but just as with specialty dining, there is a multitude of booking times, like in 15 or 30 minute segments, not just 5pm or 8 pm.
  5. It is such a shame that HAL can't cope where as other lines can. Open, Anytime, My Time or Freestyle dining on other lines works very effectively on other lines once people are seated. This doesn't mean there aren't queues to get into the mdr at times or buzzers aren't used to control mdr intake. Perhaps HAL need to control the MDR intake better, or even warn people that you can be seated but you won't get served for over 30 minutes or an hour.
  6. I think the length of the lines outside waiting for a table is related as it is affected by how well the dining room is functioning for those already seated and waiting for their meal and drinks. Too few staff for the tables you have is worse than having too few tables.
  7. Faroe Islands it is and Saksun it is Your go.
  8. Some might say it is a place named for Egyptian kings.
  9. Apparently the gate at the Egyptian hotel is sound activated, as you approach you just need to Toot and Come in. Groan
  10. I cannot confirm that but it is where they are now.
  11. Privet drive, #4 is the Dursley's house and Harry's lodgings for 11 years.
  12. My 3.5 cents worth. Firstly, the promenade by name is for promenading, a leisurely walk especially in a public place for pleasure or display. Hence, not for jogging, and not for walking (exercise). That is what the jogging track and the gym is for. Secondly, the direction doesn't matter so much on the promenade but avoiding colliding with others does. Hence, promenade whichever way you want but note who is around you while doing it and definitely say hello.
  13. Sounds like any given corridor between the MDR and the theatre on a HAL ship.
  14. That plan sounds fine, there are many more flights to Iguazzu from BA. You will need a Brazilian visa as well. Make sure you use links via the smartraveller site so it is the official government sites and not 3rd parties charging a service fee or even scam sites.
  15. If you can spare it allow days prior and post cruise to explore the cities, countryside. If going to Iguazzu, ensure you get to the Brazilian side, it is the better side. Don't worry about getting pesos in either country, use USD when you can't use your international credit card (one with no international fees) or debit card using your bank to convert. Book the Falklands excursion now if you can, Patrick Watts is a good private tour to Volunteer Point ( King, Gentoo and Magellanic) , but there are others and other locations for Penguin, just not all 3 types.
  16. Just completed this cruise, it was great. Check out the thread for 29 Jan 2024. Also make sure you have your chilean visa (90 days) valid for when you will be there. Arrange it in December 2024. Make sure you arrive at least a day or so prior to the cruise and leave at least a day after the cruise . Note San Antonio is around 2 hours from Santiago. Bring snow gear, beanie, gloves etc and nicge thick coat with wearing layers under it, for all the scenic cruising out on deck and the Falklands. This year was much warmer ( than 10 years ago) but you still needed it, even if I didn't end up using my skins under jeans. The cold kills batteries, so keep your phone and or camera warm when possible and maybe have spare batteries for the camera. Have a good pair of binoculars as well. There are lots of tender ports, so book your shorex's early, especially if with HAL. And if private, allow at least 1 hour later start and arrive 1 hour earlier back.
  17. Noted, we always have travel insurance. I am pretty sure I can avoid any pyramid schemes, or am I just in denial.
  18. I liked the temperature of the MDR except on some days it was too warm, it was an Antarctica cruise as well. Remember that if it is cooler people can put a jumper , shawl, coat on but if it is too warm, we can't go taking our shirt off.
