  1. It is a stairwell to the Retreat above. I do not know what the handicap symbol represents. Maybe a special elevator just big enough for a wheelchair? it's not a very big space! All of the Verandahs on the Observation Deck have the sofa near the balcony. For 10002 the head of the bed and the back of the sofa are to your left as you come in the room and for 10004, to your right.
  2. We cannot mention Travel Agents or Agencies on Cruise Critic. I'm not sure where people live that can find not only cruise specialists but ones that focus on HAL in particular!
  3. Welcome to the world of cruising, and to HAL! Also kudos for flying in the day before embarcation. Here is the board for West Coast Departures: West Coast Departures - Cruise Critic Community Good luck with your logistics! ETA: Oh I see you found it.
  4. By "invoice", I think Bruce means "booking confirmation". Did you book through HAL or with a travel agent? You (or your TA) should have received a booking confirmation (PDF file attached to an email with that title+booking number) showing the perks on the third page -- also any OBC on first page.
  5. The diagram shown on CruiseDeckPlans shows only a tub (i.e. shower in the tub).
  6. Not sciencewonk but a customer of Ex.Cafe. All coffee-flavored beverages are espresso-based, and all have a charge (or ding on beverage-package). "Americano" is espresso thinned out to coffee strength.
  7. HAL fangirl here. I thought I'd settled on the Vista class (Zuiderdam) as my favorite, even over the Signature ships (Nieuw Amsterdam), but then we sailed on the Koningsdam and now the Pinnacle class is our fav. But I want to have a mid-ship cabin! Whereas on the Zuidy, we were very happy right up front by the Crows Nest. However, answering your later question, we are itinerary-driven and two of our next three bookings are on Vista class ships, only one on the K'dam.
  8. Well, I like that location pretty well, myself -- between the Lido and the Crows Nest! You will not get the double Mariner points with an upsell, if that matters. Eventually, you and any travelling companions just have to decide where you want to spend your money! Good luck! Check pics here: Signature Class | HAL Cruiser Information (halfacts.com) Compare with the deckplan as the photos are not noted which level suite they are (signature vs neptune).
  9. The Neptune Suite has perks, the Signature -- just more room. As per this chart, from Suites & Staterooms (hollandamerica.com)
  10. Welcome to Cruise Critic! So, does Windstar sail a similar itinerary? Many will tell you that evening entertainment is not HAL's strong suit either... but the Nieuw Statendam does have the Music Walk and as you know, other venues to watch the sea (or people-watch). We're booked on the 35-day Voyage of the Vikings with HAL in 2025 (moved from this summer for family reasons). ETA: the itinerary is the thing.
  11. I was thinking that @POA1 was the one to ask the OP's question.
  12. A number of people have 'liked' my OLD post recently. I have to amend it. The "five weeks" should be five (or more) MONTHS. There are other groups out there who are contacting HAL 6 or so months out and getting the best slots. Use the number Jacqui supplied for the event co-ordinators (877-885-4259) and find out who the co-ordinator is for your ship and then email them with the details (ship, # of people, date). @kazu I cut and pasted your instructions -- is the number still good?
  13. Here are sister ship Rotterdam's 7190 and 11006 made up as Twins. 7190 – Rotterdam | HAL Cruiser Information (halfacts.com) 11006 – Rotterdam | HAL Cruiser Information (halfacts.com)
  14. I do not have the answer, as far as pricing, although I remember a LOT of jewelry stores within walking distance in Cartagena. Cartagena here: Colombia Cruises Q&A: Find Tips & Recommendations - Cruise Critic Message Board Forums The islands can be found here: Caribbean Cruises Q&A: Find Tips & Recommendations - Cruise Critic Message Board Forums
  15. Guessing you are asking about Holland America's loyalty levels. You will be able to go to the Front Desk to upgrade your status. If it were me I would print out My Cruise History before the cruise that makes you 4*, and then perhaps a copy of your final bill at the end, because the updating won't be complete in the system for a few days. ETA: "Anyone else gone thru this?" Yes, I'm sure they have. Whence I got the info above!
  16. I believe I have sailed with your captain, although he looks just as young as 9 years ago on the Nieuw Amsterdam! ETA: We hope to sail on the O'dam next October on a B2B2B. Happy to experience the ship vicariously with you! Where on the ship is your cabin? we are booked on the Observation Deck...
  17. Shareholder credit has been renewed through departures by the end of 2024. You are supposed to use the app StockPerks. White or black out your brokerage account number and upload a scan or photo of the cover page and page that shows the shares of stock. DO NOT SUPPLY YOUR BROKERAGE details; it is not necessary (it looks like that is the only choice but it is not). There are long threads on the procedure in the HAL forum and probably the other Carnival brand forums here on CC. The StockPerks requirement started in early or mid November.
  18. Very specific question! Maybe find help here: Viking Ocean: Ask a Question - Cruise Critic Message Board Forums Northern Europe & Baltic Sea - Cruise Critic Community
  19. I was 36 when my husband, on a whim, bought travel insurance for the first time ever, for an escorted tour of China/central Asia. Less than five days before leaving, I developed blockage from a kidney stone! Needless to say, I was in no shape to travel.
  20. They are sailing on the Rotterdam VII.
  21. Now THAT was a clever business decision!!!
  22. I did this too! (I might have forgotten about doing so -- have had to cancel some trips. So haven't put it to the test.) I was able to buy two different colors, his and hers. I was going to see if, with the pillows stuffed with our soft clothing, we could get everything else in under-seat cases. Hmm, still need to look into that.
