  1. which ship are you on. If you dock at Mahogany Bay (carnival port) there is a great free beach right there (10-15 min walk).
  2. take layers. it can go from shorts and tshirts to sweat shirt and long pants on the same day in Alaska.
  3. Technically getting back on board only requires the ship card. Actually getting to the ship, through the port, is where the need for photo id comes in. Some ports are really strict and some are not even with the US ports. One of my stops on my last Alaska port you had to have photo id the other 2 no one ever asked the ships card was all you need. Bottom line take photo id if you are 16 or over - you may not need it but it will be bad if you do and don't have it.
  4. just based on the ports I would take the first one. Nassau and Freeport are not my fav's and you will see allot of negative comments on the boards for them.
  5. sounds like they are sold out. this is a common issue on Disney where higher status passengers get first pick and the tours sell out.
  6. MSC has come along way in the North American Market in 10 years. The Divina was their fist ship to sail out of the US on a regular basis and that was the only one they had here. Now they have several and they keep on expanding for example they recently signed a deal to sail from Galveston. So more will come. But that said this is the same problem that other lines have as well since there are only so many places that you can sail from or sail too in the North American market for a 7 day cruise.
  7. Could be sold out, those type of deals often have limited availability.
  8. Here is a picture. the 2 cabin doors (beige colour) remain, they have a magnet that will allow them to remain open if desired. and the brown wood panels fold out creating 1 single door to both cabins. if you look close on the right side you can see what will be the new door handle. Also another nice feature is if they are balcony cabins the divider can fold back giving you a joined balcony as well.
  9. Sent in my request via email at 11:28 am Wednesday and received confirmation on Thursday at 11:42 am that my $100 OBC was applied to my account. Way to go Carnival!!!!
  10. I love that connecting cabin style, it has been on all 3 of the Celebrity ships that I have been on including the Eclipse.
  11. That is us as well. My last trip to Mexico I got so excited of the real vanilla (and its price) I bought a big bottle to bring back and then when packing up realized 'doh I am traveling with only carry on' and I could not take it back. some times there is a price to pay for the liberating feeling of traveling light.
  12. at the moment you would never no there are fires else where.
  13. That said get to the ice show early if you want a good seat.
  14. It is way too early to tell if there will be any smoke impact in July. in years when the smoke has impacted things in the lower mainland (Vancouver) it is day to day depending on wind conditions and where the fires are burning. It doesn't impact the cruise as far as operationally. The only impacts that you could experience are poor air quality and restricted views of the mountains. But again that could be day to day and the views get impacted by weather (if it is raining or if it is sunny).
  15. Bar tenders are very good at letting you know if the item you are ordering is not included. Just ask.
  16. Fair but still new to the role and hopefully new ideas and renewed vigour towards the brand with their new found power as the top dog.
  17. A problem with most cruise ships unless they were built in the last few years and then even some of them don't have this.
  18. You are right they would be investing where there is return. One ship in the summer stoping at a private island would definitely not pay back the investment in to a private island.
  19. Now that they have hired a new president for the brand it will be interesting to see if the corporate priorities change and the brand works out its direction and market segmentation. Celebrity is still my favourite line and my default starting point but the brand experience has certainly been all over the place from a little before covid till now.
  20. For the majors as you asked San Juan will be the place that most have sailings from to take in the southern carribean.
  21. you might be right but pretty much everyone of them I have seen in BC offers at least a $50 obc
  22. both fair comments, and I would agree the vista class ships are all not old as they first started in 2016 but I would not use the argument that they are too new to get answers to the original posters question of experience in cabin for deck 1 & 2. I would have answered it but I was on deck 9 on my trip on the panorama. The new to fleet is very true and being they are brining a new customer experience it will be different but I had not heard there were any cabin changes so that experience should not really change.
  23. absolutely. one of the main chains in Canada (also in the US) does this. they have Cruise ship in there name and are affiliated with one of the big online travel companies that advertises on TV a lot.
