  1. They have a designated Happy Hour - I believe it is 5 - 8 PM each night except for embarkation and the night of the Captain's Reception. Instead of a number of drinks of any type at any time, qualifying Captains Club members can choose from the below selection of drinks.
  2. I use the ships horn at sail away as my signal to put our phones in airplane mode. Prior to the COVID shutdown, I would leave our phones in the safe and only use the WiFi for my tablet or PC. Now I find having the phone with it's wonderful camera, access to the electronic schedule/daily planner, restaurant and bar menus worth carrying. Since we always have the premium WiFi package. Our shipboard routing is to connect my Wife's iPad to the ships WiFi so she can watch the things she wants to watch on YouTube. Her phone gets turned off and goes into the safe. On the other had, I primarily use the WiFi for my iPhone and our kids know to call my number and not their mom's if they need to reach us. I do alternate my connections between the iPHone, my MacBook Air, and my iPad depending on the activity that I am engaged in. It is all 100% personal use since I am retired and have not 'work' commitments that require me to be connected.
  3. Can you explain what you mean and give some specific examples or details?
  4. We are not big sweet eaters, other than the deserts we choose with lunch and or dinner. On our last two cruises, we asked our "personal retreat host' (formerly called butlers) if we could get a shrimp plate or cheese and crackers plate instead. Starting the very next day we were getting shrimp cocktail, cheese, dates, nuts, dried cranberries, crackers, etc. daily. On the first, a B2B, two days into our B2B we asked him to change from daily to every other day. On the second cruise, we told our retreat host what we wanted and that we wanted it ever other day from the beginning. It's true that there can be too much of a good thing. We have pretty much stopped doing shore excursions and most of the time we will wait until the initial debarkation for a port call ends and simply walk ashore and do things on our own. We are usually back onboard around lunch time, or reasonably close, and instead of going to the buffet we'll ask our retreat host for sandwich, fries (or potato chips), and tea/lemonade ) to enjoy on the balcony.
  5. I have only sailed on Edge and Solstice Class ships so I would go for the Vancouver Round Trip. We really enjoyed our two sailing on Eclipse. Full disclosure, our two Celebrity cruises in 2023 are both going to be aboard Millennium.
  6. Prior to the COVID shutdown, I would buy the DBP every cruise. Post COVID with the new voucher system, I see no need to purchase the DBP any longer, especially when we are sailing in Suites. We are Diamond Plus and find the five drinks, plue two or three in the Suite Lounge sufficient for us. Our normal daily consumption usually consist of one glass of wine with lunch, pre-dinner drinks in the lounge, two glasses of wine (for me, one for the wife) with dinner, and then two drinks at the Schooner Bar in the evenings. That's five for me and four for the wife. If I go to the casino or take in a show, I will normally have one or two more drinks, but that still does not justify the expense of the DBP. Guess I am just getting too old to drink from the time I get until the time I go to bed, like I was prone to do in my 20's - 60's
  7. Because the Army's are in black and white.
  8. Really ? Almost everyone checks in online and has an express pass prior to arrival at the terminal. There were hundreds of people waiting to board the ship whose arrival time had come and gone by the time they were allowed to board. Boarding is done by a set order regardless of you check in time. If you are in a Elite or Elite + you will not board until after Zenith’s and Suites who have checked in have boarded. Not necessarily, Boarding is usually done with Suites & Zenith first, Elite +, etc., and others following. The arrival time is simply your time to arrive, check in, and prepare to board.
  9. I have always booked my cruises, with one exception, while onboard. I have two different TA's. The one I have used the longest does not provide OBC, free speciality restaurant meals, etc.. She is an independent, working in an office of herself and one other. What she provides is very personalized service. The one cruise I did not book while on ship was when we decided to switch a cruise from a S2S to a B2B two weeks before the cruise. She was able to cancel the one cruise and book us on the consecutive sailing, but we had to change rooms. The second TA gives a very good OBC and is part of an organization and gives very good service as well as a nice amount of OBC.
  10. We pay off a day or two prior to the final payment date. If it's a B2B, we pay both off at the same time.
  11. That may vary ship to ship. We did a B2B on Quantum in Seattle this past September. At the B2B meeting in Bolero's they gave us our new cards before we walked off the ship. We used the old cards to exit the ship to the terminal and the new cards to come back aboard the ship when it reopened for boarding.
  12. A minor nit here. You do not choose your "boarding time." What you are choosing is the time you should arrive at the terminal to begin the check-in process.
  13. Maybe we should petition RCL to bring back the Diamonds in December promotion. But yes, that double points promotion really benefited us, a B2B gave us 56 points this past August / September and put us over the 350 mark!
  14. We cruised in the deck 12 aft corner sky suite on Silhouette last March/April and had no issues with soot at all. We also did not have any noise issue from the outdoor seating area above. The window washing equipment was parked there our entire cruise but it was not a bother to us at all.
  15. I have owned and used Bose QC and Sony noise cancelling over the ear headphones when traveling for years. I currently have a pair of Beats Audio noise cancelling earbuds that I now use when traveling, including on cruise ships. Often my wife and I will want to look/listen to different things on our iPads and I'll put on my earbuds so my audio does not disturb her and hers does not disturb me.
  16. We've done one cruise on an S Class that did not go through the locks. We are scheduled on Millennium for the Westbound in April - May of 2023 Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles.
  17. Log into your account at Royal Caribbean.com select Plan My Cruise on the booking in question in the upper right hand corner select your initials select Order History.
  18. We were in a Sky Suite on the port side (2125 - 2137) area a few years back and the nose was bad. I believe our room was 2129 but cannot say for sure. After complaining a couple of times about being woken up at 0430, the Suite Concierge gave us some FCC. Apparently our room was right under the area where all of the service cards the staff used when cleaning up and that area was not carpeted. I learned in Michael''s club there were a couple of other guest in that area that had issue as well.
  19. Yes, my adding my stockholder OBC did not affect the OBC from my TA or from Royal/Celebrity.
  20. Or just your room number, where they can look up whether you have a package or not.
  21. I love the camera on my 13 Pro Max but I think I'll skip upgrading to the 14 Pro Max and see what comes out after that. I have been every other version for a number of years now.
  22. You have inspired me. I am going to see if I can get vindaloo, especially lab but will settle for beef, chicken, or pork, on my next cruise 🙂 We went for Filipino dishes on our last cruise. We had pancit for lunch and chicken and pork adobo with dinner in Coastal Kitchen.
