This brings back memories. I remember in College using a key punch machine to write my COBOL programs for the compiler. I started my first job printing on IBM 1403 printers then running multi part paper through a decolator and forms through a burster. Then a Xerox 9700 . I worked as a Computer Operator on IBM 4341 4381 and 3090. MVS/XA JES2 I am retiring soon, At my current employer for almost 35 years, so much has changed. I’m currently supporting the Data Center Infrastructure and the Support Center. When we hire new techs, I give them a history of our legacy systems that we used,

I was just talking to my CIO about this. IBM mainframe memories about receiving a beep and being notified about a job abend. (SB37, S522 etc) There was no such thing as VPN, you had to go on-site to debug (allocate more space, find out why a program timed out, modify JCL, restore, and rerun programs etc)

Anyone that is an I.T. Professional would not recommend downgrading from iPhone to Android because of the security and privacy vulnerabilities with Android.

Your experience on the Carnival cruise will probably by just like it is in your everyday life. Most people would not be unkind and many would be accepting. You should be yourself and have a great time with your friends and ignore anyone who doesn’t see you as the great person that you are.

It was 28.99 for 1 device per day on the Wonder last week. If you are Diamond, you get 1 day free, Diamond Plus 2 days free days to redeem once onboard. If you are sailing with a spouse or S.O. and only need one device, you can use the other persons coupon(s) for additional day(s). For example, if you are Diamond Plus and want to use 1 device per couple. Day 1 and 2 use your coupons, Day 3 and 4 use the other persons coupons. Now you only need to purchase Internet for the remaining cruise days.

A cruise on princess is very much like what cruising was years ago. More of the traditional cruise style with food and service. They are very relaxing.

I guess that sharing advice about constipation and talking about health aliments is showing that most of participants (including me) on this thread are at a mature age. Hoping that everyone's health challenges have a good outcome.

I was on the Wonder last week. The waiter, assistant waiter and the head waiter mentioned several times about giving a 10 for all dining categories. The waiter at Giovanni’s also asked for a 10 rating twice, even after I gave him an additional cash tip.

This site is called Cruise Critic, there will be positive and negative comments and observations. I feel that the food on the Wonder (especially in the Windjammer) last week crossed the line of what I feel was acceptable. If you were not on this particular cruise, you would not of experienced what I did. Hopefully it was just a bad week and not what will become the new normal.

The problem is that the wait staff practically beg you for a 10 rating in the survey. They tell you that if you don’t rate a 10 on everything including food taste and quality they get punished. Most people feel obligated to rate a 10 for food even if it doesn’t deserve a 10.

I have always disagreed with you on this topic, however with the two recent increases in the automatic gratuity amounts combined with the cut back of services, you have me thinking 🤔

You have very passionate opinions about tipping the ships crew and the porters at the cruise terminal. You are welcome to have these opinions. I guess that is why your screen name is not “not-enough-tipping”.😀

Just completed a cruise on the Wonder. I asked the cabin steward for extra towels, he left extra towels each day. After we took showers, we folded up the wet towels and left them on the floor in the shower so they will not be in the way. When we took another shower, we temporarily moved the wet towels out of the shower and put them back after we were done showering.

The food experience on the Wonder of the Seas for this week is not up to the normal acceptable level even for RCCL, it is far below their normal standards. It’s so obvious that I didn’t have to spend any energy looking for faults.

Many Enterprise Security techs at US based companies do not allow a VPN connection to their systems from certain IP protocols.

The issue is with the quality of the ingredients especially in the Windjammer. The fish is just some unidentified white fish. No salmon, shrimp or anything else. The chicken is poor quality, it has a rubbery consistency and an off taste. Meat is rarely found and is also poor quality. The problem with the main dining room is also lesser quality ingredients but not as bad as the Windjammer. I cruise with Royal Caribbean several times a year. Recently on Independence in August. Food quality was good. Maybe a new food supplier on the Wonder this week? We ate at Giovanni’s last night, that was good.

The food was a little better on the Independence in August.

I am currently on the Wonder of the Seas. As always Royal Caribbean entertainment is awesome. The ship itself is nice but is overcrowded. This was the most we ever paid for a cruise. The one thing I can’t believe is how horrible the food has become. The food budget appears to have been cut so much that the main dining room food is awful and the Windjammer is disgusting. The poor ingredients is making basic food incredibly inedible. Mystery fish, poor quality meat and chicken. Less selection. The ships are now sailing full. I overheard other guests comment about how dissatisfied they are. With high prices, poor quality food, rising gratuities, will people book a future cruise?

Thanks for being a supportive and caring parent. Your daughter and daughter’s wife will be fine in the major areas in Florida especially in Fort Lauderdale which happens to have a very large LGBTQIA population. Enjoy your cruise and make many happy memories with your family.
