Good morning all. Safe travels Rich. Thanks everyone. I am up early as walmart text at 5am that a package was delivered Aug. 12. I got up and walked around outside. It was one that they had said was delayed but here it is Oct and it says, today on Aug. 12 it had arrived. I called and they refunded the amount but since I was already up and it was 60 and calm out I just stayed up. Can't miss these beautiful mornings.

A note for tomorrow's daily.
For my flight to Montreal I need to get to America's favorite airport at 7am. I should be able to post the daily around 8, but most likely without a map.
safe travels. enjoy.

Good morning. Great fall weather. Love the even temperatures and mild mornings. I don't miss the frost.
Thanks Rich and all who so regularly contribute to this forum. You are appreciated even if many of us don't comment very often. Thank you.
I hope to have enough energy to go out kayaking tonight. It has been slow recovery with my energy level so I'm again going to push a little harder and see if I can keep up tonight.
Prayers for all who need them. Cheers for all the wonderful friends on here that I've met or will meet someday.

Last night I went to downtown and dinned with my son and grandson on tables outside. It was so pleasant, not the heat of summer or the wind of winter. Very fun walking around town and people watching. One lady pulled up where there were signs posted for an event. I pointed at the sign as they were only three cars down giving tickets. She wanted to bargain with me. I just shrugged my shoulders. She did pull out just before the officer got to her.
Wow the photos of the port are great, thanks everyone. Thanks Rich and all who post regularly. Prayers and cheers for all.

Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit. 76 more days until I leave for my 90 some day cruise. I have my river back. It was so strange to have Ian suck all the water out of the rivers here. Lowest water level allowed us to get a lot of stuff out of the river that we had no idea was even in there. Now it's pretty much back to normal levels. I am starting to get excited about my Grand voyage and the cruises leading up to it. I have never done this before. Lots of new ideas to explore but I just desided that if I don't do it now, it will be too late and I would have regrets. There are only so many years in a life time and I think now is as good a time as any. Oh, and your coffee memes are wonderful but I'm not sure I want to give them warning about what happens if I don't get my coffee. Maybe I need one to warn my cabin steward. Prayers for all even those who don't know they need it and cheers to all as well.

Good morning all. This morning I got a message that friends in town were taking the morning off after hurricane prep work. Now I am wondering what I'm missing. I know a few lawn chairs on the deck will need to be put away but I am really thinking I am playing national tennis with a toy plastic racket. Time to ask neighbors and sons to advise. Hope everyone stays safe from Ian. I am glad you got your house @dfish. Thanks for the pictures everyone, I hope to be there someday. Thanks Rich and all for the Daily.

Yes, that was me who posted the picture of the Lanai cabin o the Volendam. I have to amit I actually liked the stateroom and location. We had originally booked a Vista Suite for that Alaska cruise but was told due to a glitch with the booking system they over sold Vista Suites and needed to move people. I declined the first offer but stated if I could have a better offer for a Lanai I would take it. Another week or two passes and they made me an offer I could not refuse. I think if there are no Vista Suites or cost is an issue the lanai is a great alternative. The only negative is people walking by and trying to look into your stateroom and or at night you must remember to keep the curtains closed. Other than that it was all good.
I have two questions about the Lanai cabins, I see from your photo that there are no cushions on the chairs. What do you do if you want to sit and they have been put away by the crew? Do they ever take the chairs away or can you sit out there at night too? And do they have fridges in the cabin? Thanks.

We both have Covid, but got home safe and sound and are isolating in the comfort of our own home. It has been something between a cold and the 'flu for me, so not too bad, Pat is suffering, so I'll try to get him to stay in bed today. I did post a little description of our experience on the NA on the "current" Covid thread. We were treated very, very well on the NA, and I have no complaints about anything. We will see how the rest goes, reimbursement, etc. This morning the news is that Canada is dropping all restrictions, masks, etc., even ArriveCan - as of October 1, so we'll see how that goes!
My sister and I are in the same boat even though we were on different ships than you. We were fortunate to not come down with it until we were home so were able to get better at home. It is amazing how many are getting it even being as careful as possible. My sister is still pretty sick. I hope she turns the corner soon. Prayers for all who cruise to not get sick.

Well, I am me again. Within two days of returning from our cruise I came down with covid, even though everything should have been good. And my sister tested positive two days later. What can I say, Alaska was beautiful and we didn't get sick until we were safely home and we had a good time and enjoyed the cruise a lot. But today is my freedom day. I have cleared the requirements to be around others and one of my sons came over and filled my gas cans for the generator in case the hurricane doesn't like Florida and decides for come our way. I am experiencing my first fall away from the northwest. Even though a few leaves are changing, the evenings are still warm and everything is still green. It will be fun to learn about the different seasons in the south. Thanks everyone for being here, including Rich and all who regularly add to the thread. Prayers for those in need and cheers for all.

Two weeks ago we had no problems uploading our test results.

I'm taking my sister to the airport so she can fly back home to her family. It's been a fun time with my sister. The house will be quiet when she is gone. Nice to be home. I am being overwhelmed by information about my 91 days on the Volendam so will take some with a gain of salt. Nice to again hear from all of you.

Count down to our cruise on the Westerdam. I fly out 9/11 to Seattle and meet her there. We will be in Alaska for a week and then she will fly back to Mobile with me. It is getting close enough for me to start thinking about packing which is making me start to get excited.
I went kayaing last night with a group and it was a ball. We went out into the Gulf of Mexico and the water was rougher than our local rivers and there was some boat traffic but we ended up on a beach and had a fire and sat and talked. Then paddled back after dark with all the lights in the background. Great way to enjoy our area.
Thanks Rich and Roy for the thread. And to all the dailyites who post. Good food, good quote, not sure on the wine that has attributes of graphite. Happy anniversary Sandi. Safe travels. Prayers for all.

Thanks Rich and all who contribute to make this a great place. Love Chili Verde. No plans for today except maybe getting more active into getting ready for my Alaska cruise. It is good news about the Volendam. I hear that two other cruise ships will take the place of our BHB but not sure how all the works. I'm just excited because I will be spending a lot of time on the Volendam starting in Dec. This short trip to Alaska will be wet my whistle until then. It will be on the Westerdam so a little bigger but any BHB is a special time. And any time with my sister is special.

I am sorry to be missing you. How long will you be in Mobile? We will sail out of Seattle for Alaska for a week and be back by the next week.

What ship will you be sailing on? We will be on the Westerdam.

Rabbit rabbit white rabbit. Cabbage looks good. My guest room is almost finished, just need to hang a few more pictures. I will be flying to Seattle for a cruise with my sister on Sept 11th. Then she will fly back with me for a week. I get to show her all the wonderful things that make me glad to be in Mobile.
Here is a sunset from last nights kayaking trip.

Yesterday I tried to get on and could not even get to read. Then I got busy and wore myself out doing too much. Today I have been taking it slower. I hung some curtains and rods. My guest room is almost complete. Prayers for those who need them, and cheers for the rest of our Dailyite family. Thanks all who make this the place to be.

Happy hump day!
John( DF) got a casino offer and it included a New Year's cruise on the Volendam so we will be doing a 7 day B2B with a 74 day. We have tried to rent a home in Florida for the winter but the cost was prohibitive. We will be spending almost all of our winter on a BHB.
I plan to be on that cruise and the one before and the 74. I guess I too will miss winter.
Just dropped by to say hi. Son is in his house. But doing all that meant that my house was neglected. Now I have to play catch up and get it ready for company soon.

Just popping in to say hi to all the Dailyite family. We have been working on the house for my son. We found that the seller was very dishonest in his history of the house. A four year old roof ends up being a 40 year old with repairs done four years ago and so on. But it is coming along. Today is the planned day for him to move in even while we are still doing repairs and improvements. Even when I don't post, you are all in my thoughts. Stay well.

Good morning all. Thanks Rich for taking time on your cruise to send us the information we have become addicted to. As I sit at my desk I see the changes of fall. Fog over the river in the morning, the sun coming up later, the trees gently changing from bright green to shades of green yellow and some even turning red for accents in the reflections. Fall here is so much different then in the high desert of Oregon. By now there would be frost every morning and highs of 40 but here we got down to 60 last night. I have been invited to go camping with a kayaking group. Of course at my age it means taking the travel trailer. No bed on the ground for me any more. I like a bathroom with shower and hot water and a fridge. Come to think of it, my trailer is a lot like a cabin on a cruise ship. Prayers for everyone, and cheers for those who are celebrating.
