  1. Hasn't changed. Layers with the outer layer water and wind proof.
  2. There is a huge floating around by several people that were on Westerdam in March and April. ATK has been taken off all the HAL ships, quite a while ago, before Covid, I think.
  3. If you have a fitting problem, bring your own. If you don't, all the snorkeling and related excursions will provide their own.
  4. No, don't believe so. The shuttle is free.
  5. I believe the only way is to take the provided shuttle bus from the Arizona that runs on to the military base (Ford Island) and stops at both the Aviation Museum and the Missouri.
  6. People can (and do) turn off the signatures feature that shows past cruises, as it clutters up the boards. So, for example, I can't read your past cruises.
  7. Most taxis will not handle 4 people and a lot of baggage. So a minivan for 4, for 85 euros is not outrageous. English is spoken at least well enough by the tourist business people that you will be fine. Customs literally takes seconds. You go out the green exit unless you gave something to declare, or you happen to get randomly selected for a check. Immigration and waiting for your luggage will take far longer.
  8. There aren't an large number of sea days on a canal cruise, but I guess you would need to define "large number". Our first was to take my in laws. My F-i-L had sailed through a number of times during WWII, and initially wasn't interested. But everything he had told my M-i-L made it very interesting to her. So Dad tagged along. He LOVED sailing it on a cruise ship, as opposed to a warship, and Mom was happy as a clam. By the way, my DW has signed up for 4 full transits and 1 partial.
  9. Private tour vendors and other port info is located on the Pacific Island board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/62-pacific-islands-all/
  10. We usually drink champagne as well. The Tamarind Bar had a couple champagnes not seen elsewhere on the ship when we were there, but, no, none specialize in champagne. Occasionally one or another will be out, but not usually a problem. We did learn the Neptune Lounge usually has the cheapest champagne that we enjoy avoiding.
  11. Take a look around the board. There are many threads on recommended hotels.
  12. N. Statendam sailed from Sydney to Singapore? I don't think so. She has stayed in Europe and the Caribbean.
  13. There are bars and lounges all over the ship. For example, there are 3 on the Lido deck. There are 2 or 3 on each of the decks where the MDR are located. HAL doesn't have a "concierge lounge". Are you talking about the Neptune Lounge? We go wherever strikes us at the moment.
  14. Never heard of anyone going hungry on a cruise..,.🫠
  15. This is beginning to sound like a "cash and miles" upgrade situation. Does AA do that? Doesn't sound like a good deal in this case.
  16. From the HAL website: https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/onboard-packages/cruise-ship-wifi.html A search of the board here will also find many threads on the costs.
  17. Yes, have been to everything at Pearl...Missouri, Arizona, the sub, and the Aviation Museum. Nothing wrong with the Aviation Museum, just feel the Missouri was more interesting, particularly with a "insider" guided tour. Even my wife liked it...but of course she was a Navy officer.
  18. It would depend on how many bookings they have. Taxi would be the more efficient, time wise, for your noon flight.
  19. Cruise line air programs are usually pretty good for one way international fares. We book one way international award fares pretty frequently...leaving on one a week from today ... SFO-AMS, coming back CDG-SFO. Did SFO-CPH last summer. Other than taxes, never costs a penny. We fly United most of the time. Your situation with AA doesn't impress me much.
  20. Ah...the beverages in the fridge are not free. You will be offered one or two visits from the room stewards. Your choice.
  21. HAL also used to send out a bunch of stuff in a fancy folder. Long gone, well before Covid.
  22. What documents are you expecting other than boarding pass and bag tag? Pretty sure those are the only ones they provide.
  23. That means they probably have a lot of guarantee bookings, which severely clouds the ability of the average person from figuring out the status of filling the ship. But people try very hard to figure it out.
