  1. The PJ party is on the first night of my upcoming cruise and Scarlett Night is on the second night. FYI bring all of the RED clothes you can for Scarlett Night. Everyone is in red.
  2. The FL Resident 15% discount only applies to booking 45 days or less out. I've been trying to bag a good price using this discount for 8 months now but the price always seems to bump up around day 46. Go figure.
  3. Whenever I read this thread I immediately log in on the VV app and check my assigned cabin number for my upcoming cruise. I hold my breath until the cabin number appears :)
  4. I started to bring my own pillows after my first cruise.
  5. Can you confirm if you are able to order via the in room device? It didn’t work for me in May when I was having issues ordering from the app.
  6. I tried the Ship Eats option on my last 2 cruises and found the order option on the app only worked occasionally. Most of the time it came back with the error message, unavailable, try later (or something like that). I had to call Sailor Services to process my order. Any advice?
  7. I Airtag my checked bag, carry-on bag, and toiletry bag. I did several "Find my" tests during my last cruise as an experiment and discovered the locations were only accurate in the port of Miami and Key West. Give it a try on your next cruise.
  8. Ditto Having done almost 50 cruises, I've learned almost anything can happen 🙂 I do the same thing on other cruise lines too. If they lose this bag, they are trying very hard to do so...
  9. I don't remember seeing cigarettes being sold on board.
  10. I started asking these same questions before my first VV cruise and found the help and information offered by other passengers on this board to be both kind and extremely helpful. We are all just people helping people as it should be. The kindness is a plus. 🙂
  11. Book your restaurants via the app as soon as you can. Most of the good times will be gone by the time you board. Full is full.
  12. It's a sweet deal. Higher speed internet, a couple of free specialty coffees a day, early boarding, some laundry, AND a $400 bar tab. These are WAY more perks than Seabourn offers to their Diamond members who reach 250 days on Seabourn (which equates to a $250,000 investment at their average $1000 per day). 😞
  13. I have 60 super cool luggage tags from my 15 Seabourn cruises in a big drawer at home. I used one on my first VV cruise. With that said the porters in Miami proceeded to attach VV's paper tag to my bag for every cruise I've taken. They never even looked at my nice Seabourn tag. They didn't even give a hoot. ;0
  14. Deep Blue Extras were extended through 2024.
  15. I'm taking my 6th cruise to Bimini in December and keep trying to talk myself into taking this tour. This tour uses the same 'trams' used to shuttle back and forth to the Beach Club. These trams lack any kind of suspension springs and are back breakers for us aged folk.
  16. I just reserved my restaurants for my upcoming 7th VV cruise. This is for those who are new to Virgin. My restaurant reservations opened up on 10/29 (today) but what exactly does 'today' mean. Well in may case it means 12:01 AM last night EST. At 11:45 PM yesterday I went to the apps "Book dining" option which was no longer grayed out. Very exciting! I attempted to make my first dining reservation by walking through and picking my day and time which led me to the available restaurants. But no options to book were presented only the list of all restaurants. OK not to be denied, I watched the clock roll over to midnight plus 5 seconds and tried again. Same results. However, at 12:05 AM, the available restaurant options appeared and I was able to complete my booking for the Wake, Friday Dec. 18th at 6 PM. HA! Excellent!! Yeah - success 🙂 Your timing may vary but this is exactly what I expected. As the engineer I did try to fool VV's system by changing both my iphone's time zone and VPN to Sydney hoping I could make VV think I was in Australia and get a jump on booking but it didn't work. Virgin is TOO SMART for me. 🙂 Hope this helps first-timers with their restaurant reservations. Use the app and book as soon as you can at 45 days out. I think it's 60 days out for Rockstars but I'm not a Rockstar, just an engineer nerd. Happy sailing.
  17. Restaurant reservations can be booked via Virgin's app 45 days out (sooner for Rockstar suites I think). Restaurant booking dates will show up on your app (see the attached example from my upcoming December 13th cruise) and it is strongly recommended you make your reservations as soon as the app allows. Shows can only be booked onboard via the ship's wifi. Happy Birthday.
  18. All good questions. Buy-ins for tournaments include: $80 for the quick (I don't recommend this tournament for experienced players) $240 for the main event tournament (I did play in this one on 2 different cruises). $125 bounty tournament $150 sit n go (which I haven't played in). Cash games are mostly 1-2 with a $100-300 buy-in. These games run in conjunction with the tournaments and usually get a full ring of 9 players late at night. Skill level is all over the place, as you can imagine. I've played against the once-a-year and skilled players. With that said, it's always been recreational players playing. Brad Owens or Rampage weren't on any of my cruises. Hope that helps.
  19. A couple of quick comments from a long-time cruiser who has switched to Virgin this year: First, the price Virgin charges for beer, drinks, and specialty coffees is very fair and in line with what one would pay on shore. For example, a Latte is $4, so a $600 bar credit goes a long way, IMHO. Second, I have been hunting for last-minute deals on Virgin all summer and can say the prices have only gone up as cruise dates approach.
  20. I would think that your credit card company will protect you in this situation.
  21. $400 bar tab and the DDE $10 per day coffee credit per cabin is the normal for cruises less than a week. The DDE $10 coffee credit has always been per cabin, not per person per VV's website. If others got twice that they were lucky 🙂
  22. Short answer: No - not on the 4 or 5-day cruises I've been on. Long answer: I did bag a few "closeout" or "last season apparel" items in the 2 logo shops onboard at a discount. But those items didn't get more discounted towards the end of the cruise. Unlike the other big box cruises I've been on that spill out "newly discounted items" towards the end of the cruise in an attempt to drain the last nickel and dime out of our pockets before we disembark, VV just sells what it sells.
  23. The crew scrubs the floors at night so half of the Galley is closed during cleaning. Hence my tip about seeking out the second coffee station. I almost always use the coffee station nearest the Grounds coffee bar except at 4-5 AM when I stumble over to the station on the starboard side of the Galley,
