  1. I filled out our Online Checkin yesterday. I noticed an anomaly when I reached the point of accepting the cruise contract. You still have to scroll down the complete length of the contract. However, when I did this it would not accept that I had "read" the contract. Even though I read through the contract when I was scrolling down, it would not accept my acknowledgement. I had to select the "print" option for the contract. It then opened a new window with the contract, ready for printing, I then was able to proceed with the acknowledgement in Online Checkin.

Note: I did not actually print the contract, though You could. The act of selecting print was enough to trigger the completion of the checkin.

  2. It has happened to us--TWICE! First time, driving to Little Rock to spend the night prior to our early morning flight. Got almost to Little Rock when my DW asked me where her purse was, I didn't know, she is responsible for her purse. It wasn't in the car. Said purse had passports, credit cards, etc. Turned around and went home (hour plus drive) , purse was found sitting on kitchen table. Turned around and drove back to Little Rock for our hotel night. Lost about three hours of total drive time.

Second time, getting off Voyager of the Seas. We had been fortunate to get a pier upgrade to the Royal Suite.

We had set out the passports for the three of us on top of the grand piano, to make sure we did not lose them. Left the cabin, got off the ship, and got all the way to Immigration Control. I asked her for the passports and she had just two of them. Mine was missing. Immigration officer told us to step out of line and go see if I could find my missing passport. Went back to the gangway and had to explain to Security why I had to get back on the ship. They were unsure of how to proceed, so they had to contact their supervisor. I was allowed back on the ship (was not signed in or tracked in any manner) Went back to the cabin and my keycard still worked, went in and my dark blue passport was still lying on top of the dark black piano.

I should have just stowed away and gone on another cruise. I really needed a drink!

    Nowadays, I keep the passports.

  3. What are the menu plans for Park 150 going forward? RCCL has apparently discontinued the affiliation with Michael Schwartz. So, I would imagine that new menus are forthcoming/ Has anyone heard or seen anything about menus for Park 150 for this fall?

Also, anyone have current menus/experience with Park 150 on HOTS?

  4. Hopefully a medical expert will read this. I believe that it is not advised to cut the patches in half. The medicine is a liquid that is encapsulated between two membranes. The side that goes on the skin is semi-permeable and allows a measured amount of the medicine to slowly enter the body over time. If you cut it in half, I think you run the risk of it leaking out faster, and either over dosing or under dosing you.

We use generic Bonine (meclizine) and have had excellent results. I start on it at least 24 hours before flying to the port and then stay on it through the cruise and a day or two back at home. I have also found that if the seas are smooth, I can start cutting the tablets in half and it works well.

  5. Also, the actual picture that comes up on the monitors at the port for entry into the the country is digitally encoded on your passport. That picture is usually much clearer (from what I have seen)

That is the picture that the entry officer looks at.

  6. Oasis a few cruises back. Formal night on the way to dinner in MDR. My dear wife has had numerous surgeries on her feet and is only able to walk a very short distance. She was using a mobility scooter on that cruise. While negotiating the aisle on the way to our table, there was a waiter coming our way carrying a tray of drinks. She swung wide to the left to give him room. Unfortunately she went a bit tooooo much to the left and caught the table cloth for an empty table with the handlebar of the scooter. In slow motion she pulled that table cloth, dishes, stemware, drinking glasses, and silverware off the table. Need less to say she was mortified!

The crew were very gracious about it,and rapidly cleaned it up and reset the table.

  7. Not to put too fine of a point on it but it's not their job, it's food service's job. The stewards don't have the room to store all those dishes (the utility rooms they have are tiny and packed full of the stuff they need to do their job) and certainly don't have the time to take them anywhere.

Actually, on Oasis class, there is a room just for the dirty dishes/trays. I saw a worker that was hauling the dirty dishes and trays out of that room so they could power wash the room. There were several racks lining the walls where the trays could be slid in.

  8. The 18% on a machine that serves you a drink needs to go. The Bionic bar is nothing more than a fancy vending machine just like the soda machines. If it's a machine you should NOT be charged a gratuity or as RCI calls is a "service charge".

You actually ARE paying a 18% tip for the soda vending machine. The "gratuity" amount is added to the purchase of the soft drink packages.

  9. If you are flying in a day or two before, the scooter rental company may be able to deliver your scooter to your hotel.. That way you have use of it pre-cruise, when you go to the ship, just throw it in the back of the shuttle van and go to the port, unload it and off you go. At the end of your cruise, you will leave the rental in your cabin or a designated area. RCCL will have staff available to push her in a wheelchair off the ship and through Immigrations, and Customs, all the way to the taxi.

  10. Also, after 80 days of non-use, your car battery will very likely be run down due to the clocks/computer/car security, etc that is always drawing power whenever the car is parked. My wife's car sits in the garage (she cannot drive anymore due to medical condition). If I don't drive it at least once every week or so, the battery runs down. I had to purchase a small trickle charger and leave it connected to the car to assure the battery stays charged.

  11. ... there are also no trays for you to pile all the dishes on to schlep back to the cabin.

at $7.95 per order, the room service menu Ain't half bad. ( if you are in a suite, there is no charge)

The first time you order room service, put the empty tray in your closet. The next time you want to go get food to go, you will have a carry tray available.
