  1. Prefer - like (one thing or person) better than another or others; tend to choose. "I prefer Venice to Rome" Topic is food.
  2. We wanted to cancel existing internet package and book new and had problem with cancelation. Oh well difference is just $1 per day, so we’ll live
  3. It is. Especially because this is one umbrella with the same suppliers and similar logistics, but different spending on food. Anyways, it is for these two lines. Same goes for Carnival umbrella which includes Seabourn and Carnival, Holland, Princess and Costa etc. Quality is very different.
  4. We cruise every year on 3-4 different classes. This year was Anthem, Enchantment, Oasis, Adventure and soon Anthem again. Because we pick ships where we don't need to fly most of the time. We like to have certain itineraries. Grandeur (now Enchantment) does 12 days deep Caribbeans from Baltimore. We like Oasis and Anthem entertainment, but also like entertainment on smaller ships.. Tons of music everywhere during evenings. Changing entertainment in Main theater daily. Everything is so close and this is very convenient. After you sailed on large ships many times you understand that you do not need all features large ships have. Oh.. and during the last several years we fell in love with Crown Viking Lounge, especially now that we are Diamond Plus and have beautiful views with nice snacks and drinks while sailing away. This is a video I made about Enchantment (similar size, but it has Boleros) We LOVE all ocean views we get on smaller ships!
  5. When one restaurant charges $20 for dinner and another $40 quality is usually different. Anything may happen, but generally difference is pretty visible. Same with ratio space vs number of passengers. You cannot miss it. Or when you enter Solarium and towels are waiting for you on loungers rather than you need to go get them from stuff and then return. Royal spends more on entertainment and on various equipment for activities. I love both lines and happy to be on either. And we are much more often on Royal.
  6. This thread is ABOUT FOOD QUALITY on two lines. What does it have to do with likes/dislikes? Royal as a whole including number of ships in the area suits us better, yet we know that X is stronger in food department .
  7. This is rich coming from a person who admitted never sailing on Celebrity. If anything I am D+ on RCI (7 on Celebrity) so it’s funny you are advocating something you cannot even compare. Logic is funny too, considering that topic is not about comparison of lines overall, but foods specifically. Enjoy Burger King and whatever other fast food chain you are enjoying
  8. * I think this is kinda like asking if a Whopper is better than a Big Mac. Individual preference would be ... if a person prefers better entertainment (RCI) over better quality food (Celebrity). As for food Celebrity has better quality/variety of food because it focuses more on this aspect. It is not Wooper or Big Mag. (both are fast food/equal choices)
  9. That's not entirely true. They have different spending per passenger on food. RCI focuses more on entertainment and invests more into crazy unusual ships 😀, Celebrity focuses more on quality of rooms, food and service. So food is naturally slightly better than on RCI, but of course exceptions happen. That said I am usually completely satisfied and more on RCI.
  10. We are approaching our #55 cruise and NEVER EVER experienced change of final payment. When we book cruise we get invoice and it says what is remaining to pay and that is what we pay.
  11. Celebrity has a very good to great food in regular dining rooms. (On Beyond there are 4 different with various cuisine). Is there a reason you want to do only specialty dining?
  12. in 2019 we sailed on Grandeur for New Year 2019, in May on Adventure, in November on Anthem and for Christmas on Explorer. Each cruise had nights without escargots after certain night. Not a huge deal, but it looked like a system. I was surprised to see it every night last 2 years.
  13. We have not noticed any speed issues by the way.
  14. So basically it is a frozen lobster them, or previously frozen.
  15. It is a different thing. Maine lobster has large claws with lots of meat which I personally prefer to tails.
  16. This year I already ate them every night on 4 cruises (9, 12, 7, 9 days... 7 nights coming). My husband eats only scallop gratin. 🙂
  17. I eat escargots every night it is available. However escargots every night is fairly recent addition. Even in 2019 they were available only first so many nights (On 6-7 nights it was 3-4 days, on 12 days it was 8-9). And before I remember them only on 1 night (First formal?) in 2016.
  18. I never ordered Maine lobster on ships... we get it here in New England, so I cannot confirm.
  19. I just thought ... If I get Maine lobster, I am good with not getting the second one. It is a very different lobster, than we get on cruises. It has claws for example. However dish is called Broiled Lobster Tail (Cold water Maine lobster served with ....) So I am confused a bit. Is this just a tail of Maine lobster or whole Maine lobster? On land you never get just a tail of Maine lobster.
  20. I'd be OK with the same menu daily, but I have one important concern. How do you guarantee that they did not just reheated something from yesterday?
  21. We cruise 5 a year. Last years most of the time with Royal. This year all 5 times. Even though I know menus by heart, I was completely fine with it. This change isn’t good by any means (we’ll survive), but I’ve heard another change was that you can order only one thing from every course. I wonder if this is true? Long time ago we dropped desserts. Lately I dropped main entree on most night. However I usually ordered 2-3 appetizers. Escargots, some seafood appetizer and maybe a soup. Now choices are less and only 1 choice per section?
