  1. What is even more unfair is that you can't use the app ordering at 14.95 one time charge for room service since the full dining room menus are not there. Only way to order is by calling and be charged $5 each time.
  2. We had a cactus on the Discovery. And the Ultimate Balcony Dinner now provides you lovely carnations in a vase instead of the floral bouquet.
  3. Prior to our UBD on the Discovery in April, we had done the UBD on the Golden in Honolulu in 2013 and the Star in SF in 2018 and always raved about our experiences. Don't know if it was just this sailing or ship but our view has changed. First of all, no one called from RS to discuss the menu. I called them and they said someone would call back after they returned from the Sky suite, who were also doing the dinner the same night as we were. They finally called, and by that time the only time available was 5:30 PM. Didn't really like that ,but we wanted to do the dinner the eve in SF as we were celebrating our 50th anniversary and we had started our married life in the SF Bay Area so that is why we had booked it in the first place. In the past, they provided a lovely floral arrangement for the table, this time is was a few carnations in a small vase. The photographer evidently wasn't impressed either, as he replaced that with the roses I had received from my DH, when he took the photos at the table. Well it wasn't just 2 dinners they were doing the same night as our but 4, each an hour apart. And the best part is the same 2 person waiter/asst were doing all of them. So the service was not the same as in the past. We did tip the waiter, since it wasn't his fault management made this stupid decision, and asked to have the assistant come by so we could tip him as we had not seen him the entire time. Finally at 10PM we had a knock on the door and the assistant was there looking like he had just finished running a marathon. Really felt sorry as the poor guy was exhausted. So maybe you will be lucky and have an experience like our first two but just be prepared for the opposite. I recommend calling RS as soon as you board to discuss the menu and time you would like to dine.
  4. We don't normally do suites either but for our 50th we booked a PH suite on the Discovery this past April. It was a wonderful experience and I hope you enjoy your suite too. I agree $5 is not a lot but you are already paying a premium for the stateroom and now they want you to pay thousands more to get free room service that their website says is complimentary.. Just plain stupid and greedy.
  5. If you go on the website and do a mock booking for a suite using the standard rate and go as far as picking the stateroom, the pricing page lists the amenities associated with the suite and it states “complimentary room service”.
  6. We are booked in a window suite and there are only a few of them so that is why we are reluctant to rebook.
  7. But the problem is the fares are always under some kind of sale. I have yet to see a time when there isn't a sale of some sort associated with the booking.
  8. GENERAL TERMS APPLICABLE TO ALL OFFERS IN THIS ADVERTISEMENT (“Offer(s)”): Unless otherwise indicated in an Offer’s terms, Offers only available to legal residents of North America. Offers only available for new bookings, on select cruises, on a limited availability, are capacity controlled (regardless of stateroom availability), and may not be combined with other offers or promotions (aside from those listed herein). Other exclusions may apply; void where prohibited. Changes or refunds may not be permitted. Offers and their parts (if any) are not transferable, not substitutable, and not redeemable for cash. Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd. (“PCL”) is not responsible or liable for any printing errors. Offers may be changed or revoked at any time. A non-refundable deposit is required for all stateroom guests and amount of deposit varies according to the cruise length, stateroom type, and number of stateroom guests.
  9. It shows up in the terms and conditions for the current fare. Currently the fare is a 50% off but it was also there for 2 previous fares on our cruise, a 40% off and a local resident fare. I I go to main page to try and book a cruise it says the current price is a 50% off deal, if I click on the 50% off link the new booking only shows up under general terms and conditions near the top.
  10. And if you go on the Princess website to book a cruise in a Suite under the Standard Rate it still says you have complimentary room service.
  11. Are you able to refare or have to cancel and rebook? All the lower prices I have seen on our booked cruise come with the caveat that it is for new bookings only. Our TA tried to get ours refared in July and was told by Princess the only was to cancel and rebook.
  12. Here in Vegas we have had rain/showers since noon yesterday. Now it's foggy. Go figure.
  13. Just read that some flights on Sunday from Reid Airport LV are being cancelled. Better have them check.
  14. Too bad they couldn’t go today. Currently high clouds, calm and in the 70’s.
  15. They would be worse than I 15. Right now they are predicting 2-4 inches of rain from late Sat to early Monday. That is our annual rainfall in 2 days. We have lived in Vegas for 25 years and have seen what heavy rains can do and you do not want to go there. They are saying Nevada may break the all time rain totals. So if you want to gamble your life go for it.
  16. Bad idea. We live in Vegas and no way would I want to be on I 15 going thru the desert areas with the potential for heavy rains. Flash flooding can happen in minutes and be deadly.
  17. This is not uncommon. My health care customer service works this way. Big difference is everything is handled professionally and there are no dogs barking, or party sounds in the background.
  18. We usually book with BB travel center. The price that shows up on their website is the one with the plus package. . You will also see a note that you can upgrade to premium for a listed amount. If you call them and tell them you want the standard fare they will quote it and it will match what is on the Princess site. Crazy but that is what we have experienced.
  19. The last time we were in a suite and used room service was prior to the app. Since you can order off the main dining room menus(B L D ) for room service in a suite, the stateroom attendant would provide a copy of those menus and you called room service to order. So now if you don't have the package you would have to pay $5 per order if you call or use the app for $14.95 one time fee.. Is the app "smart enough" to know you are in a suite, can order off the full menus and provide those menus to place your order?
  20. We decided not to rebook as we are in a window suite on the Grand and there are only a few of them. Afraid we would lose the cabin category which we had booked with a FCC. They told us it would take up to 72 hours to get the FCC's back into our account so we could rebook. Not sure this is even correct but at this point I don't believe anything the people at princess say.
  21. We booked thru the big box agency and recently tried to refare a 2024 cruise that had a price drop and obc. The new fare said new bookings only, which just about every fare that comes on Princess has that statement these days. They called Princess and were told if it says new bookings you can only cancel and rebook no refares. In the past we never had a problem getting a cruise refared.
  22. We did get to go to Wrangell years ago on a RCCL Alaska cruise. There was a very bad storm and instead of going to our scheduled port(don’t remember which one it was) he went into Wrangell. There is a very good dock and it was a lovely small Alaska town. Not commercial like the normal ports. People were very friendly and it was interesting to hear about living there. There was a Native Alaskan Historic Site within walking distance of the pier. The place to buy souvenirs was the local ships chandlery.
  23. For a Reserve Class Mini on this cruise standard rate it’s $650 per day for 2 guests. The Majestic 51 day South America cruise same category of cabin is $400 per day, and it’s a much newer ship.
