For every post condemning NCL you can find an equal number in other boards condemning RCCI, Princess, Holland, etc., for doing the same things.

Not really unique to the NCL boards. I've seen the same discussion (sales that are not sales) on multiple boards on CC including Holland, Princess, Celebrity, RCCI. RCCI's gambit is this: 50% off second passenger, then they list the fare. Posters think the 2nd passenger sails for half the listed fare but the fine print states that the listed fare includes the 50% off for the second passenger. The actual fare is twice the listed fare. Example: listed fare is $2000. Implied 2nd passenger fare would be $1000 but it's not. The implied cruise fare is $2000+$1000 or $3000. The actual fare is twice the listed fare or $4000.

I have two Haven cruises booked for March 2023 and March 2024. Both have increased in price since they were booked by about 8%. This is after the 40% off was applied.

Wall Street Journal had an article this week about how a room on a cruise ship could be less than a night at Motel Six. The prices quoted were for an inside.

Ideas on how to have concerns addressed?
RocketMan275 replied to munson1's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Old story. A man is checking in for his flight to LA. He tells the agent that he wants one bag to go to Detroit. The second bag to Miami. And the third bag to Dallas. The agent tells the man that the airline won't do that. The man asks "Why not, you did it last week?" -
***** begins with a B and ends with a CH. There's an I and a T as well.

We were on Breakaway in early March. We were required to wear a mask while in the NOLA cruise terminal prior to boarding. We removed the masks the moment we stepped on the gangway to the ship. We did not put them on again the entire trip. I think they announced that we had to mask to leave the ship in NOLA. We did not and no one objected. BTW, we didn't catch anything.

That's why spaceflight is so popular for some. -
Is there a better way to compare cruises??
RocketMan275 replied to CrazyTrain2's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You highlight an important fact that leads to many misunderstandings. Too many assume that searching the web is the best way to determine the prices. Many cruise lines prohibit TA from advertising any price other than what is on the cruise lines website. Some cruise lines allow discounting by the TA while others don't. Some TA, prohibited from discounts offer a rebate instead. A rebate differs from a discount in that a discount price is the price you pay while a rebate is a refund that is offered after the cruise is completed. This forum forbids discussion of specific TA and their pricing. Customers that are the most price sensitive tend to book cheaper cabins where the effects of discounts/rebates are small. A 10% discount on a $1000 cruise is $100. A 10$ discount on a $10,000 cruise is $1000. Which raises the question of whether it is worth the effort do do the research? -

As you point out there are many options you may select which impact the actual final costs. The best way to get to the final price is to work your way through those options. You could also work with a real TA and I'm not referring to those big box TA like Xpedia, etc, but a real TA like the one I use. -
Us too. We've booked an aft haven on deck 12 the first week in Mar 2023.

Questions from a first timer - Cruise and NCL
RocketMan275 replied to dmacleod's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
You might want to bring two credit cards. From different issuers in case there is an issue with one card, ie stolen, lost, etc. -
Send that email and ensure you mention that you want to use the Cruise Next on your next cruise and that the offer to use two expires 30 Jun. I'm not sure this is relevant but it shouldn't hurt. I wanted to get a refund on CruiseNext certificates and was getting close to the time limitations on refunds, NCL told me that they went on the date of the email and that as long as I made the request within the 30 day period, it would be approved. Perhaps that might apply to your situation.

We do the same things on sea days that we do on port days. We're limited to Caribbean cruise so there's really no reason to leave the ship.

I took a bottle of wine to a restaurant every night. I keep the wine in my cabin. I paid the corkage at the terminal. The corkage fee is due regardless of where you consume the wine. Fifteen dollars per bottle is not an exorbitant amount. You can buy a bottle ashore, pay the corkage, and still save money over the cruise line price and you'll get a much better wine.

In early March 2022, I brought six bottles of wine aboard Breakaway. I had the beverage package. I was charged $90. It wasn't listed as corkage. It was Taste Restaurant. We never visited Taste.

Wish they would get rid of the bath tubs and just have a shower. I wonder how many really take a bath. No bath tub means more room. -
Best and most useful things you’ve brought on your cruise
RocketMan275 replied to ccc321's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Five or six bottles of very good wine to have rather than the overpriced/not so good wines served by the cruise line.
