  1. Noon would be the absolute earliest I would book a flight and that might be pushing it. It really depends on how many ships are docking at the same time and how many thousands of other cruisers are trying to get to the airport and on flights. You go through US Border Services in the Vancouver airport which adds time to the process; this means you should be getting to the airport by 9:00 a.m. For ease of mind, I would take the 5:00 p.m. one and then book a tour of Vancouver that would drop you at the airport at 2:00.
  2. I wouldn't risk it, you have to go through US Border Services in the Vancouver airport and depending on how many other cruisers are trying to get through - it could be very busy. With the additional issue of mobility problems, its cutting it too close in my opinion.
  3. Make a reservation - both ways! Since Covid, the ferries have been hit with numerous cancellations due to a variety of reasons (including staff shortage). No they won't just put you on the next ferry if you miss your reservation, you're at the back of the line with everyone else. It doesn't matter if its a weekend or weekday - during the summer the ferries are busy. Also I would strongly, STRONGLY advise that you not travel back to Vancouver on the day of your cruise. As I said cancellations or delays are common place now.
  4. But apparently coming soon to Victoria https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ExternalLinkInterstitial?redirectTo=https%3A%2F%2Fvancouverisland.ctvnews.ca%2Fuber-finally-approved-for-victoria-1.6392820
  5. Uber and Lyft aren’t available in Victoria, probably why you’re getting an error message.
  6. Try posting this on the Canada Pacific board as Victoria is not in Alaska. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/23-canada-alaskapacific-coastal/ Lots of fabulous pubs within walking distance of where the ship docks.
  7. When you're onboard, just pay attention to the notices given out as to what time the ship's clocks are on and adjust your own devices accordingly.
  8. Sorry obviously I wasn’t paying attention to where you were from, my apologies.
  9. Why not just take it to your home bank in the US and exchange it there? Or save it for future trips to Canada.
  10. The last time a cruise was 15 years ago and there was a camera on our balcony then. We just waved at it every morning!
  11. There are plenty of whale watching tours leaving from the Inner Harbour, suggest you check to see if any do a pick up at the cruise port. Also suggest you pre-book one. https://www.tourismvictoria.com/see-do/whale-watching
  12. Are you boarding or disembarking the ship in Vancouver or is it a port of call? I didn't know that Vancouver was used as a port of call.
  13. I would get your daughter to drop you at a Skytrain station and take the train to the port, much easier than her trying to navigate the traffic that is going to be around Canada Place.
  14. Your friend is not getting off the ship in Canadian ports. Have to agree with Ferry_Watcher, switch to a different cruise.
  15. If you're able to walk, its a lovely walk from Ogden Point to downtown; roughly 30 minutes.
  16. When you do your online check in for the flight to Seattle, you will be asked to "attest" that you have been fully vaccinated.
  17. This is one of the reasons I quit cruising! I enjoyed the "luxury" that was cruising in the late 1990's and early 2000's; and that included getting dressed up for dinner. When the mega ships started and it became a floating amusement park, I quite happily settled for other types of vacations.
  18. Can never understand why the steam clock is such a draw - but to each their own!
  19. Had to look up what Kabu was as I'd never heard of it. Hopefully someone who has used it in Victoria (or even knows of it) will be by to give you an answer. As for tea at the Empress, there are much better options for tea at a lesser cost. My choice is to have tea at Butchart Gardens. Other options are below and all, including Butcharts, will require a reservation. https://www.butchartgardens.com/restaurant/the-dining-room/#0 https://www.abkhaziteahouse.com/ https://www.pendrayinnandteahouse.com/pendray-tea-house.html https://www.whiteheather-tearoom.com/
  20. It might help to know exactly what time your flight is. Never book an early flight after a cruise, I would never book a flight before noon and most times even later than that. Good luck catching your flight!
  21. "I have an early flight back to Canada and would like to get off the ship ASAP!" Never book an early flight after a cruise!!
  22. How about the Canada (Alaska/Pacific) forum.
  23. You will go through US Border Services before boarding the ship. Yes you go through it again at the Vancouver airport so you don't have to upon landing in Seattle, its considered a domestic flight.
  24. What high speed ferry are you referring to? FYI - there isn't one! BC Ferries is the only ferry and it is a 1.5 hour sailing with additional time getting to the ferry terminal on each side. Its basically a 10-14 hour day.
