  1. YES - you will technically be in US territory while docked, so even if not getting off the ship you will need any documentation required to gain access to the US.
  2. Vista 18, best view in town, probably best to make a reservation and you might have to taxi there/back. https://vista18.com/
  3. Sure hope there's no line up at the Border or delays on the roads; getting to your cruise departure city the day before is always best.
  4. Well CruiserBruce that's precisely why I used the terms "might" and "best to check out"; no need to get hostile using all caps and shouting. Cheers mate!
  5. I know you asked about craft beer in Juneau but you should know that Victoria is a haven for craft beer lovers.
  6. If this B2B cruise is on the same ship, you might be contravening the Passengers Vessel Services Act. Best to check that out before booking. Mind you the cruise line shouldn't let you even book that cruise if it is in contravention.
  7. Noon at the absolutely earliest to book a flight. You will go through Canadian Customs getting off the ship, 45 minutes to the airport, then Security as well as US Border Control in the Vancouver airport. Lots of folks are going to tell you they made one mid-morning and yes, it can happen but why spend the last day of your vacation fretting about making your flight. Sorry just re-read your post and you're asking about time of disembarking. It probably starts around 8:00 a.m. so if you want to drag all your own luggage off the ship yourself, you can opt for self-disembarkation and perhaps be off by 9:00.
  8. Have to agree with Heidi13, you won't have time to see anything else in Victoria. If the ship is scheduled to depart at 10:00; I think 9:45 is a little late to be getting back on board.
  9. Ballantyne Pier has not been used for cruise ships for years.
  10. There is only one pier in Vancouver for cruise ships - Canada Place where the Pan Pacific is located.
  11. I was just coming on to say the exact same thing!
  12. There is an Air Canada/Delta flight that leaves Reno at 6:30 a.m., connects in San Francisco, arrives in Vancouver at 11:00 a.m. for $282 CDN one way. But those are this year's flights and prices. Your choices are flying or renting a car and driving. However you'll incur a one way drop fee for the rental car. Or drive back to San Francisco and fly from there. Getting around North America is not cheap.
  13. Perhaps this is a cost the children's parents can pick up the tab for! Crossing an international border, get it notarized.
  14. There are round trips out of Vancouver. But if that's what you were referring to, its going to be hard to find a cruise that doesn't start in either Vancouver or Seattle; unless you fly to Alaska and start from there.
  15. "I think the cruise industry has largely brought such criticism upon itself by building giant ships which can disgorge up to 5000 (or more?) passengers into small communities which lack the infrastructure to cope with such an influx and cause disruption to local residents" Bingo - you hit the nail right on the head!
  16. Why was this moved to West Coast Departures? This question is asked all the time on the Canada (Alaska/Pacific Coastal) forum.
  17. Hey thanks for coming back and letting us know how it worked out. Sounds like it worked excellently for you! Glad you enjoyed your time in Victoria; now you have to come back and explore the rest of the Island - when you've got about three weeks!
  18. Unfortunately it appears that the already short port stop in Victoria has been cut even shorter this year for some cruises. Agree with Heidi13, walk or cab into town and have a drink. The Q lounge in the Empress is lovely.
  19. Trying to figure out why this was moved to the West Coast Departures forum???
  20. Balcony chairs with foot stools! A fully wrap around Promenade deck! How lovely.
  21. 11:45 means getting to the airport by 8:45 so you'll need to be among the first off the ship carrying all your own luggage. You go through US Border Services at the Vancouver airport, hence the need for extra time.
  22. "early flight" - how early is that flight, even a car service might not get you there in time if its too early.
  23. Visitors from Europe coming to the US have had to get an ETSA for years now; its nothing new to the rest of the world.
