  1. John Heald swears that package would be more expensive than Cheers, but I have absolutely no idea how a non-alcoholic package would cost more than alcohol.. I mean a mocktail minus the alcohol has all the same ingredients except.. the alcohol.
  2. I can't speak to the shows, but if I wasn't going to do YTD on this ship, I would do late. Main reason being that if I wanted to eat in one of the other included restaurants, I wouldn't have to wait until way after my normal dining time to do it. Seated dining cannot request these restaurants until after the late seating starts. YTD can request them anytime.
  3. Yesterday I was offered a move from an ocean view to a balcony at just over $1000. If I wanted to pay that much, I'd have chosen a balcony to begin with. I don't know how they even call that an offer lol.
  4. My husband got one of these prior to our last sailing on the Mardi Gras. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but when the survey asked what would incentivize him to spend more time in the casino, he answered "free drinks." Then, when we got on board, he got a message in the app that he had been given free drinks in the casino (and we weren't sailing on a casino offer where he was already getting this) nor had he spent in time in the casino yet because we hadn't even set sail yet. So you never know.
  5. I imagine it's rare that people request this (for example, the main reason we do YTD is because we do NOT want a shared table). If no one else is requesting it, they can't really give it to you either.
  6. Are there any connecting interior Family Harbor rooms where you could split the difference? I love Family Harbor, but for this much savings, I'd want the connecting interiors, especially as a family of 5. The suites aren't really suites in the sense most people think of. They are really just larger rooms.
  7. They definitely used to. We used to order it every debarkation morning until they stopped offering it.
  8. I get it, but they allow you to bring a 12 pack of soda on board, so you absolutely are not forced to pay Carnival's price for this.
  9. When you see that being advertised, the rooms you are able to select from are automatically in the higher category. Honestly, it's not really much of an "upgrade." It's more of a marketing gimmick to make you feel like you're getting something.
  10. They are hoping to sell that suite to 4 people instead of 2 where they make more money. At this point, you'd have to take one of the suites for 2 people or wait to see if they are willing to sell it to you closer to the sailing.
  11. It means that you'll move to a higher category/higher deck within your same room type. What it does not mean is that you'll go from ocean view to balcony, for example.
  12. No the product has been great for us the 5 or 6 times we've done it. It really was just that the experience we had on the Mardi Gras was awful (And really I'm kind of being facetious here. The price isn't bad, but if the price is going to continue to go up, the experience doesn't need to be going down.)
  13. I normally don't have a problem with price increases that make sense, but I think this breakfast has now been priced well beyond its worth. It may be that my kids have outgrown it or it may be that we had a terrible experience on the Mardi Gras (food wasn't great and only 1 character ever came by our table). We won't be doing this again.
  14. It did when I sailed on it last year. I don't think it's been removed since then.
  15. Well, most likely, the agent posed as you when requesting his charge back so there was no one to "notify" as far as Carnival is concerned. And if he really never was a legitimate agent registered with Carnival, he most likely just used his own credit card to book you on the consumer site and then did the charge back to steal the money from Carnival.
  16. Absolutely this. Agents should never ask you to pay them directly. You submit your payment info to them and then the agent pays Carnival directly with *your* card. Which would mean they absolutely accept Amex. This agent was definitely running a scam and he knew this the entire time. Take the client's money, pay with his own card, and then charge back so that he gets the commission *and* all of your money. Sounds like he was caught and this is why he disappeared off the face of the earth, but that does not help your situation. You likely will have to pay the previous balance owed if you want to sail with Carnival again. At this point, it may be best to find a different cruise line.
  17. Does Pride have the upper food area above the buffet? On Spirit, they serve BBQ. If it has something like that, that area is nearly deserted on embarkation day as people haven't found it yet.
  18. While the Spirit is definitely no Excel class, it's no Fantasy class either. It's a nice little ship and it does have some of the upgrades like the Alchemy Bar. I always suggest trying many ships and many classes so you can really see what you like and what is out there. But if you really think you won't enjoy it, I'd do the Horizon and just fly to Miami.
  19. It's kind of luck, but the easier Carnival thinks they can sell your current cabin, the more likely you are to get an offer to move to something else.
  20. I've never heard of this, but to be fair, I don't really think it's needed anyway. You are rarely going to see a long wait in the app, except maybe for elegant night, unless you are on the new Excel class ships. And even then, you can check in well in advance based on the estimated wait time and eat when you prefer.
  21. Which is interesting because you were on the sailing right before mine and we got one every night by default. Maybe it varies by steward?
  22. I may have missed this since I tend to visit the boards intermittently when I have an upcoming cruise, but are paper Fun Times officially back across the board or is this new? On our Mardi Gras cruise last week we received one every night (as did everyone else on our floor since I could see them in mailboxes). This wasn't the case with any other cruise I've done since the restart, so I don't know if it is just a Mardi Gras thing or if it is coming back on all ships.
  23. Trying to plan out the first night of my upcoming Mardi Gras cruise and I have a couple questions. DH and I would like to eat at Rudi's and we want to go the 1st night for the wine special. Our 2 kids aren't interested and probably would not enjoy a nicer meal, so I'm trying to time it around Camp Ocean and Circle C schedules. First, about how long does a meal at Rudi's typically last? Second, I believe Camp Ocean opens at 7pm on night 1, but does anyone know what the Circle C schedule looks like that night? I know Circle C isn't really babysitting, but I want to plan around their night 1 meet and greet to so that my son doesn't miss it. Do parents need to be there for that or no? I Googled a schedule and it said something about bring a parent, but I don't know what ship that was or how up to date it was.
