  1. There is one main costume party/contest night where most people dress up (who want to dress up). I don't know what night it will be, but when I sailed in October in the past it was one of the last sea days. There will be several Halloween events throughout the cruise though.
  2. My kid is 10 so she's old enough to be dropped off during all open times. I'm just curious if they open on the first night or wait until the 2nd day because I've had to wait on some of my sailings.
  3. Can anyone who has been on the Mardi Gras and utilized Camp Ocean recently let me know if the drop off activities start on night 1 or on the 2nd day? I've been on some cruises that don't take drop offs until day 2 (usually this has been 7 day cruises).
  4. They are hoping you do (and most of the time they are right since gamblers tend to be the people who get these deals), but there is no requirement to play.
  5. I'm booked on this cruise next year and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous now.
  6. Do you have to purchase these a certain amount of time before your cruise? I know they went away for a while and then came back. I was just looking at them a few days ago, but today I can't find them anywhere under my cruise manager. I cruise 3 weeks from tomorrow. Or could this possibly be another website glitch with the maintenance coming up?
  7. If the issue is that you won't be at a printer, you can do the entire check in and then go back to print the documents later.
  8. The child isn't going to be able to check in with the adult in the room being a no-show.
  9. Maybe, but with it being a week later, someone would have seen him by now. I'm sure crew were told to be on the lookout and one of them would eventually recognize him. He can't hide out forever. The most likely scenario is usually the correct one. In this case, he probably (sadly) went overboard.
  10. I can understand the need for structure as I would have struggled just striking up a conversation with a stranger as a teen too. Heck, I still do. 🙂 Really the best advice is to make sure she goes to the meet and greet on the first night. A staff member will be there to help facilitate that and that is where she has the best chance of meeting people she clicks with and can hang out with for the rest of the cruise. My son did the teen club for the first time last year and we made sure he did this. While there weren't always scheduled activities or a ton of people using the club itself, he did go to several things on the schedule like the dance parties. He did seem to have a good time. This isn't really a "since covid" thing. It's just how the teen clubs have always operated. Most teens don't care for constantly scheduled activities and would rather just hang out.
  11. Even before he got to customs, the ship would have record of him scanning off.
  12. I believe the free service is open until 10:00pm and it becomes the paid night owls after that. The time is the same for all of Camp Ocean regardless of age.
  13. We enjoy it, but as a family we like character breakfasts in general. We are Disney people and do them often there. This is a similar experience. The food is fine. It's pretty similar to Sea Day Brunch with some additional themed items thrown in. We've done it twice in the past and are doing it again in October.
  14. Since you are paying for the entire room anyway, I'm not sure that it really makes a difference. If you were to cancel him (assuming you even can), you'd just pay double the fare which you are already doing plus you'd get port fees back. If you just let him be a no show, then you'll want to check him in as if he's going and you'll get those fees back on board. When it matters is when you have 2 people in a cabin who are paying separately and the 2nd person canceling makes the 1st person's fare go up.
  15. On the Mardi Gras, the first time you dine in Cucina, Chibang, and Guy's is free, but after that, there is an $8 charge. This is whether you have my time dining or not. Confirmed dining times just can't go until after 7:45pm. I'm not sure about the Celebration or Jubilee, but I'd imagine this change is coming to all of them. And, no, Guy's does not have the free filet anymore.
  16. Carnival does not offer hotel packages. They do offer bundles with flights though.
  17. In my experience, it depends on the length of sailing. Every 7 day cruise I have been on, the actual drop off hours didn't start until day 2 (except for Night Owls). On shorter cruises, it starts on day 1 I'm guessing because there aren't as many nights to have it. But I'm guessing this could vary by ship.
  18. Yes, however, it depends on the casino rate. If it's a free cabin, then there are generally no extra incentives to offer because the agent isn't making any money off the booking. You technically have up to 90 days to transfer it, but I've seen booking transfers be approved outside of that range.
  19. Are they? I wasn't even aware of that. I know the croissants they set out in the morning are free but I thought that was it.
  20. Just an update, this sailing is showing back up today but all balconies are sold out and ocean view is very expensive. I'm guessing it really was just sold out and is popping back up when people cancel or things open up.
  21. Are you thinking of DDT? DEET is just insect repellant and isn't particularly strong. It's what you find in mosquito repellant so it's mild enough to spray on yourself.
  22. Almost every school system in the Southeastern US has fall break in October (and it's often that 1st or 2nd week). In fact, that is our fall break and we are on that cruise. When I looked a couple weeks ago, cabins were already severely limited. The only thing that was showing up at the time were insides and suites.
  23. The sad thing is that fumigating the room does nothing. Most bed bugs are resistant to pesticides. Extreme heat (over 120 degrees for an extended period of time) is the only thing that consistently kills them. Even getting rid of the mattress may not help because they can be anywhere in the room. I do agree with giving them a different room, but if it is a fully booked cruise that may not be possible.
  24. I know this is kind of a joke, but it is actually a good idea. Bed bug sniffing dogs are a real thing.
