Gold Card and/or C&A Status on Seapass Card

Do people think that having either a Gold Seapass card or having their C&A status tier printed on their Seapass card makes any difference to the service received onboard RCI ships.

From personal experience it hasn't made a whole lot of difference. Although on a 16 night 'round the top of of Australia cruise this year traveling in a GS on Radiance we found that with My Time Dinning if we showed up at our reserved time and wanted a table for two we were quickly escorted to either a proper table for two or ended up with just the two of us on a table for 4. Some nights we just wanted to be by ourselves though most nights we didn't really care and enjoyed the company of others at tables for 6 or 8. Other than that it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference compared to our previous experience two years earlier when we were first time cruisers on RCI with no status and the normal silver card.

Interested in people's experiences.

I just think the gold card made it easier to get into saved seating at the shows.

I have had workers on board offer comments on first day as to welcome back to us as repeat cruisers when they see our status.

I think it depends on the situation. One recent example was priority customs line in terminal 18 at Port Everglades. The gold card saved 30 minutes.

I don't think there is much till maybe at diamond level perhaps or maybe if your in s suite.

You might get into some quicker lines, or the staff may say welcome back but that's about it.

I cant think of anytime yet where I seemed to get better/faster/nicer service. Now that I am platinum maybe that will all change.....:rolleyes:

Those booked in a Grand Suite or higher cabin category and Pinnacle Club C&A Members are issued a Gold Card.

Other than priority access to most things and access to the lounges and concierge, we have received the same excellent service regardless of gold card or C&A status. We primarily cruise in suites now only for the perks and the size of the cabin/balcony. In fact, the very best service we ever received was on our very first cruise in a balcony cabin with no C&A status. It is what brought us back time after time.

Only Pinnacle gets a gold card no matter what stateroom they book. All others must have a GS or better to get a gold card.

I dont think staff treat a gold card any different from a blue card for normal services that dont have a gold card perk.

As an example I have ordered drinks at the bar with a gold card and still had the blank faced employee make the drink give me check without a smile or any emotion.

They dont see the gold card and immediately go from robot to extra friendly and nice. They treat every customer same

I laugh every time I get in the elevator and folks with gold cards seem to think it necessary to "adjust" their lanyards so their gold card is facing "out" for the world to see :p

I have only noticed a difference in service, with a gold card, sometimes in the terminal, the lines are shorter, and it's easier and faster in the Pinnacle/suite line.

Once onboard, for the most part, I don't notice any difference. However, the gold card does come in handy, when wanting to board an early tender. the gold card gets one close to the front of the line.

As far as bar service, etc, I think that everyone is treated equally.

I've considered a lanyard for the beach but I've always found other places to put my seapass card (beach bag, waterproff money holder etc.), so there is no need for a lanyard, unless you are trying to show off.

I always use lanyard with gold card, but do feel tacky so I tuck it into shirt.

And no, except for predetermined benefits, I see no difference in service.

Often a request is made even prior to anyone seeing my card so I say NO, the color or level printed on the card makes no difference. It would be awful if those of certain C&A levels or room accommodation were treated differently than other passengers. Yes, those specific card holders do get various benefits, but treatment and service should be the same.

The color of your SeaPass Card nor your C&A level should make no difference in the service you receive. Everyone should be treated equally and special.:)

I use a lanyard on sea days when I'm wearing shorts with no pockets.

I have not noticed any difference in service if my card is gold, silver, or blue.

I do not specifically recall seeing the gold card lanyard thing, but it rings true. On our most recent cruise we had a huge number of pinnacles and many of them [i want to say most but never counted so I want to be accurate] wore their pins every day making it completely obvious who they thought they were. Pretentiousness seemed to go with the territory for most of them [with at least one notable exception]. Of course, as one recent reviewer posted in the review pages for that cruise, bad passenger behavior seemed to be a general norm for that cruise so maybe it wasn't just the pinnacles.

On Adventure over the summer, we were in a GS. After lunch the first day, we always go check out our assigned table in the dining room. This time, there were six of us, but the table was for four. My parents were sailing with us and I had verified the reservations were linked.

So, I went to the maitre d at the entrance to the dining room. He apologized, but hemmed and hawed about fixing it. Then he asked for my card to verify the reservations were linked. Within minutes, everything had been resolved and our table was changed to a table for six.

And while I would just chalk it up to all-around excellent service, the maitre d pointed out to my son what a benefit it was to have a gold card. I thought it an odd statement to make to a 10 year old kid. And it also made me wonder what would have happened if I hadn't had it.

But if I ever do I am 100% certain certain I wouldnt wear my pin. I havent wore my Platinum Pin, I wont wear my Emerald Pin in January and I wont wear my Diamond Pin by the end of this year. Unless a magic switch changes in the brain when you see that gold pin.

I had the same thought when I read that post. Glad I wasn't alone in that.

I have used a lanyard for both a regular seapass and a gold one. I'm not concerned with impressing anyone on the ship lol. It's convenient when I am wearing a bathing suit or shorts and I don't have to worry about losing my seapass.

It's amazing how people project their own "stuff" onto others.

Did you do the responsible thing and return your Emerald pin to C&A? Don't accept the Diamond pin in protest - you should make your statement heard by C&A.

I do wear an RCCL lanyard that I bought in the Logo store onboard - it comes in very handy and I always know where my card is kept.

The only reason we eventually got to have a gold card through Pinnacle status was because we were treated special from our very first cruise and therefore kept coming back.:D
