Booking your next cruise on ship!

OK, if it's new, that explains it, because it definitely did not happen to me that way.

So in my example above, I can still take advantage of booking on board by booking 4 short cruises at $50 each (instead of one cruise at $200), and using those as my dummy bookings. That way the deposit amount cannot be reduced. Right?

Sounds right. I emailed you the screenshot with the terms not sure if you can read it. I tried posting it here but it is way too small.

Yes, I was able to read the screenshot, thanks. Just curious when this changed?

The reason I asked is that I was "advised" to do this by a future cruise consultant on board.

Logic said it cant be true though about the deposit remaining otherwise we would all be booking GS's spending the cash and then downgrading later.:D

He is asking about downgrading a cruise where he already took $250 OBC to a cruise where he would only get $50 OBC. RCL will take back the $200 he spent and reduce his deposit to $50. There is now wording to that effect on your booking invoice if you booked on board. Ken posted it here somewhere a few days ago. My screenshot is too small to read.

If you order a booking invoice for a cruise booked on board you will see it on there. It is new. It was not on my invoice in May but it was when I got a copy a few days ago.

Here's a larger photo. I found a June copy of the Guest Booking Invoice and it was not on that one.

It will be interesting to see how consistently this one is applied.

Hi,

Have not booked a future cruise while on board so not sure about this.

Does obc have to be applied to your SeaPass bill? Or has anyone tried to cash it out? Heard of people doing this via casino.

Cheers,

NJ

The casino will give you cash against your onboard account (thereby using OBC) for a 5% fee.

Great - thanks for the info. Might try to do an on board booking. But never sure I'm getting the best price - especially waiting for 90 days out.

On last cruise, a friend found a lower price online for a future cruise - showed it to sales rep & after much ado, rep did honour lower price.

I have been reading that a lot of you are booking your next cruise while you are on board your current cruise. Is there a discount or anything that you get for doing that or is it just easier to that when on board? Thanks for any help!

If we have a specific cruise in mind to book, we like to do it onboard a sailing....smaller deposit and an OBC to use on the cruise we are booking....is just fine with us.

If I book 3 12-14 night cruises i would be charged 450 and get 450 OBC?

would it be double for single occupancy?

If you were booking those cruises in an inside or oceanview stateroom, you would be charged $150 deposit for each and get $150 OBC for each, no matter the occupancy.

Just 'beware' though, that if your intention is to pick a specific date to get the better perks, but later on decide to 'move' or 'change' the ship/date etc you lose your perks unless the exact same offer is in place at that time! Happened to us, booked onboard, $50 dep, $200 OBC (7 day cruise) was advised by NextCruise that we could change to a later date when those bookings opened....NOPE, that was WRONG! When we found the exact date/ship etc that we wanted, in the end NO OBC and they wanted FULL deposit at the time of that change of booking too!!

So word to the wise.....only book onboard if you can pick exactly what you want (date, ship, cabin etc)...otherwise your 'perks' may disappear to the 'deal of the day' at the time of your booking switch!!

Very odd. We have changed ours a couple of times.. Kept full OBC and no additional deposit needed..
