margeg6 Posted June 6, 2012 #926 Share Posted June 6, 2012 We will be in Stockholm on Tues., July 10, arriving on HAL's Eurodam. How does one know which terminal will be used? Also, what is the quickest (best) way to get to the Vasa from that terminal? Thank you for any help you can give.

meganttt Posted June 7, 2012 #928 Share Posted June 7, 2012 HI there, 3 of us will dock at Pier: S167 STADSGÅRDEN from 8am to 5pm. thinking of buying the HOHO boat ticket . First, we will go VASA early in the morning at 8:30, then changing of the guard and Gamla Stan Old town for the rest of the afternoon. I am still confusing on how to get to Gamla Stan after the VASA. If we are only using the ticket once from the ship to VASA, should we consider taxi then? Thanks :)
r1955 Posted June 7, 2012 #929 Share Posted June 7, 2012 I am still not clear about getting back from Gamla Stan to the ship at stadsgarten 167. And if by bus how much would it cost?

Desdichado62 Posted June 8, 2012 #931 Share Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Thanks, meganttt. How did you find this information? Marge The information is available at: http://www.stockholmshamnar.se/en/Karta/Vessel-calls/ There is also an official app available from Ports of Stockholm: https://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=CruiseSthlm also getting from Vasa to gamla stan, just take Djurgårdsfärjan. It will depart from very close to Vasa and will take you to gamla stan. http://www.waxholmsbolaget.se/visitor/djurgarden-ferry/plan-trip/ Summer timetables (June 18th- August 19th): http://www.waxholmsbolaget.se/resenar/djurgardsfarjan/planera-resa/tidtabell/ check the times at the green logo where it says Från Djurgården till Slussen. For those of you who plans to visit ship vasa, you can download a free mp3 audio guide from the museum website: http://www.vasamuseet.se/en/visit/mp3-guide/ Edited June 8, 2012 by Desdichado62
margeg6 Posted June 9, 2012 #932 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Thank you for the information. Another question: How is the best way to get to Vasa from S167 Stadsgarden in the early morning? I was thinking about the HOHO boat, but it looks as though the first one would be at 9:55. We were hoping to go about 8:30 am. Is that possible? Thanks for this information. I had read that we could either take bus 76 or take this ferry to get from Vasa to Gamla Stan. If we want to go straight to the Royal Palace, would one be better than the other? What forms of payment are accepted for the ferry and for the bus? Thanks so much for any additional information... For the ferry you can either use SMS ticket (don't know if it works for non Swedish phones), then you can use credit card to acquire tickets from ticket machines or cash/credit card from the ticket boot. The last time i went with these ferries (a few months ago) i used my VISA card to buy a ticket from the ticket machine. Price is 45kr one way for adults (20+) children aged 7-19 and people aged 65+ costs 30kr. Journey will take 7-10 minutes from Djurgården to Slussen/Gamla Stan. Then another 7-10 min walk. Bus will take some 20 minutes in total, but obviously it depends on how much traffic there is. Price is about the same as the ferry but you need to buy tickets in advance since no tickets can be bought on the bus. Also i found this map in another topic here on the forum. http://sl.se/scripts/kartor-geografiska/7510.Innerstan.2011.html Ferry goes from the short road just north of Gröna Lund and arrives to Slussplan. Buss goes from Strandvägen/Djurgårdsbron to just above the S in Skeppsbron. Edited June 9, 2012 by Desdichado62

We downloaded Vasa Museum's MP3 audio guide and it was very helpful. We were very impressed with The Vasa Museum. Our ship docked at Frihamnen... we purchased 24 hour SL Travel Card at the Tourist Info Center at the main port building using a standard US Credit Card with a 4 digit pin (I do not believe they accept cash). The 24 SL Travel card cost 115 SEK (70 SEK if you are 65+) and it is good for all buses and the ferry between near the Vasa Museum and Gamla Stan. I wonder where we could possibly purchase bus tickets if we wanted to use the bus from Vasa to Gamla Stan? I've had a look at SL.se about their retailers. There is one listed named Royal Kiosken at Djurgårdsvägen 2 which is just before the bridge from Djurgården, when you are coming from Vasa. Thank you so much for that information. It seems like taking the ferry might be easiest since we'd have to find this ticket location for the bus. Does that seem right - that the ferry is easiest if you don't already have a bus pass?
meganttt Posted June 11, 2012 #939 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Hi Desdichado62, Thanks four info. If I have the day ticket for HOHO boat, is there anywhere for me to take the HOHO boat from VASA to Gamla instead of using the publis ferry? I just wish to utilise the HOHO boat day ticket. If there is no other choice, then might as well I purchase single ticket fro pier to vasa then.. Then from, Gamla stan, I am going back to the Pier167 then. Do you rememmeber how long it toom (I guess it also depends on where you are in Gamla Stan)Margo The best way to get back to Frihamnen from Gamla Stan is to take bus 76. It has more than one stop along Skeppsbron in Gamla Stan. The bus ride should take around 20 minutes. The only problem with this bus is that it is not available on Sundays. And of course that you cannot buy tickets on the bus. Bus 76 is very useful for cruise passengers who dock at Frihamnen; it also has a stop at Djurgårdsbron, a short walk from the Vasa museum. Here is a link to a map where you can find Frihamnen port. The red line indicates the route for bus 76 so that it is possible to find where to take it. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=200939608343314501629.000448dadb8bebb56f079&msa=

Love Cruis'n Posted June 15, 2012 #947 Share Posted June 15, 2012 We arrive via the Grand Princess on July 12. Will be in port from 9 – 5. Have prepaid the Ice Bar and have a 1:14 time. Questions: ) What is the best way for our group of 6 adults (in our 60s) to get from the dock to the Ice Bar (and later back to the ship from the Vasa). 2) We also want to visit the Vasa and Skansen. 3) What is the best way to get around town? 4) Can private taxis take groups of 6? - How costly are they, and will they take Euros or is it SEK only? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Terry

I am not sure about the exact cost, however a 10km trip during daytime usually cost around 240-250 SEK. 4. Of the biggest Taxi companies, Taxi Stockhom will accept, SEK, Euro, GBP and USD as well as many types of credit cards. Don't know about Taxi 020 or Taxi kurir. Taxi Stockholm and Taxi Kurir can take up to 7 passengers as long as you let them know that when booking a taxi. http://www.taxikurir.se/ http://www.taxistockholm.se/ http://www.taxi020.se/ Edited June 15, 2012 by Desdichado62
