Atlantic Canada Posted October 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2017 We are sailing on Oct 26th from Brooklyn Terminal and we are flying into Newark Liberty airport. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting from the airport to the dock...taxi, limo, Princess transfer etc. What is the best way to do this and do you have any idea of costs. Thanks
DRS/NC Posted October 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2017 Ask your TA or call Princess for the Princess transfer cost (a bus directly from the airport to the port). The ports of call forum will probably have suggestions for other modes of transfer.
skynight Posted October 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2017 Actually a good way is a Princess transfer if you can arrange it. It is probably in the $30/pp range, but that price may not be accurate. A private cab will cost lots. A private limo that meets you at the airport will be maybe $100+. It is quite a long drive from Newark Airport to Red Hook in Brooklyn, and you have to go through Manhattan.

sunsetbeachgal Posted October 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2017 You could try pricing it out on Uber but my guess is that the Princess transfer will be more economical. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Hlitner Posted October 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2017 Princess transfer from Newark is $34 pp. Uber will cost about $60, and you will have your own car.driver. Transfers often involve lengthy waits while they wait for others to fill the vehicle. Hank

easyboy Posted October 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 18, 2017 If the fares are close, Uber is far more convenient to take. Usually a short wait time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

You will be responsible for paying those, not to mention you will most likely have to pay the drivers tolls for the ride back to Jersey also. Princess transfer will be cheaper if only 2 of you. It is tricky getting to the port. I wouldn't trust an Uber driver not familiar with the area.

klenklen Posted October 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 19, 2017 We live in NJ just west of Newark airport and were on this cruise last year and again next week. We took Uber and will again. It cost last year about $70 that was a bargain since it included tolls and tip and no issue about return tolls to NJ. The Holland Tunnel toll would be at least $12 without EZPASS and the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel would be about the same. As long as you're not traveling at rush hour it should be 40 minutes tops. The airport is maybe 10 minutes from the Holland Tunnel. This gets you into downtown Manhattan just below Canal Street that is about 10 blocks or so north of the WTC. You'll just be going down the West Side Highway 5-10 minutes once through the Holland Tunnel going into the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Once through the tunnel and its toll it's one exit and a U turn to the port. It's all a matter of traffic and best done after the morning rush hour. A great deal with Uber and as to a comment above that they do not know where they're going they have GPS and surely you have it on your phone.
