Alaskan Cruises: Pools Heated?

Having only sailed the Caribbean this has never been an issue bit wondering if pools are heated during alaskan sailings - specifically Royal and/or Golden. Sorry if this is a silly question but I couldn't find an answer anywhere!

Sort of. All Princess pools are fresh water and heated, but can still be pretty chilly. Especially when they have just been filled.

We were on the Golden 3 years ago in Alaska and chose it because it had a covered dome over the pool as well as being heated. We were traveling with 3 generations and knew the kids would want to be in the pool much of the time that we were not sightseeing on land. Hope this helps.

I don't remember the pools, but I do remember enjoying the hot tubs on our Alaskan cruises.

Only the grand class ships with the sliding domes. The pools are all heated by the sun so it depends on how warm it is and if the sun is out in full force. Remember the days are longer in AK and get more sunlight if there are no clouds. Our cruise to AK this past July, it was really warm and the Ruby pools were tolerable for northerners.

The CORAL has a covered/indoor pool area.

Princess' idea of heating pools and hot-tubs, is a cruel joke. Especially in Alaska in late May.

Don't count on it.

EVERYBODY was complaining... They actually sent a 'shirt' out there, with some kind of thermometer or gizmo, to ACT like they might do something.

Nearly all ship's pools have some form of heater, but many do not work, and anyway, they generally only heat to about 70-75*F. Some lines will not heat hot tubs to the "normal" 102-104*F because this is also the prime breeding temperature for legionella bacteria.
