2500 casino tier point comped cruise, info please

I saw it advertised on the last cruise that if you earn 2500 tier points in the casino they will comp you a cruise. But it does not give any details: how long is the cruise?; is it only on certain ships?; is there a time limit to take it?; What kind of cabin do you get? Has anyone earned the tier points and redeemed it? What options were you given?

We already get cruises comped from land based casinos and I am wondering how this deal is in comparison. Total Rewards casinos give us 7-day cruises with time limits, interior cabins (up-gradable to window with 2 vouchers), and Caribbean only. Another reason I am asking about this is that I don't want to bother with the Carnival vouchers a different casino is comping us anymore because we have been disappointed with Carnival compared to Norwegian. I want to go ahead and take the ones already booked and focus on earning more NCL cruises instead. And there are a couple of ships and itineraries I would love to try that land-based casinos are not giving us.

Also, any idea what kind of bankroll I should expect to have to earn that many points on one trip? I like to play the electronic table games (where you play a table game but rather than a live dealer there is a video screen and virtual dealer.)

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth going for on the next cruise in March.

The points work very similar to how you are used to at land based casinos. 1 point for every $5 in spins on normal slots or 1 point for every $10 in spins on video poker etc. that means you will have to put through $12,500 or $25,000 to get that amount of points. Obviously you are aware that doesn’t mean that is how much you lose. Additionally the comp system works similar as well. I️ would think they go by more of your ADT then just how many points you have accumulated. But basically you just call up CAS, tell them the date and ship of the cruise you are looking at booking and they will tell you what they can come you. It’s very simple.

Hmmmmm. RCL advertises the free cruise for 2500. Never seen it on NCL. Casinos at Sea will look at your posts play and comp a cruise based on your play. They are looking for steady play throughout the cruise. A couple of hours a night at a $0.25 machine would earn you a free cruise more than 30 mins at a $100 a spin. Once you qualify with CAS, you can ask for pretty much any cruise any day.

The RCL 2500 cerificams require fast rebooking on a very limited number of sailings.

I have never seen that written on a sign on any NCL ship. They do give you other comps each cruise based on your points earned within their players club year which runs from April 1st to March 31st. Extra specific comps during your next cruises start at 5000 points.

It may have changed, but a couple of years ago a CAS agent told me they start comped Inside cabins (1 week) at $2500 actual or theoretical loss. It wasn't based on how many points you earned. It can also vary based on how popular a cruise is and what the market price is for that cruise. (Look at the difference in price for one week on the Bliss to Alaska versus one week on Bliss from LA or Miami. Alaska much more expensive for them to comp.)

We now find it much more 'cost-effective' to play on board for cruises rather than go to Las Vegas to play. Those LV certificates have a limited time to use. Much easier to book direct through CAS based on prior play onboard.

CAS comping is different on every ship. On the epic I had a real loss of 300 dollars they comped 230$ to my stateroom and told me to call cas when I got home as I had earned 5000 points. I had earned enough points for a 7 night trip in Greece. I also got a nice discount on a Baltic Sea Cruise. On the Baltic’s trip I earned 6000 points and got a comp of 126$. On my star trip this year I earned 6500 points and got 105$ comped off of my stateroom. The real loss for this trip was around 2.5k. I am now on the jewel and the casino host and I have a different understanding of the words waved and refunded. I earned about 1000 points in the first 24 hours but have not gamboled since. I expect to get my fees refunded and 10$ and I told him that I’m not playing for the remaining 10 days. I have a free cruise in may I hope to get it extended 3 days to board in Barcelona and disembark in Rome. I don’t think CAS will be impressed with my play on this boat and I’d be happy to discuss the difference between waved and refunded with anyone. I also feel less obligated to play on a cruise that wasn’t comped. This trip was fairly expensive. Also 1000 points was a real loss of 1.2k. I guess they have the money but the play is low.

CAS comping is different on every ship....

Yes, it and it varies week to week, and on different itineraries.

As I understand it, CAS department sort of buys rooms from regular NCL. So, in high demand weeks, ship or trip they may have less to work with than another week.

We have had cruises where we could get a full suite and others only a balcony.

As to differences between land casinos... CAS will be able to see your actual play based on past cruises. If you played strong, they will do a better cabin. If not, then less. This is the first time I have seen a certain point level come into play though.

We are going to on our first NCL cruise and just read about Total Rewards benefits. Do I bring my card with us or do we need to call and register ahead of time? Thankz

Did you book through Casinos at Sea? If not, give them a call and tell them your status with Total Rewards. They may be able to give you a discount on what your paid, but it may depend on how/when you booked. To get recognized as a CAS 'invited guest' on board you should contact them ahead of time. Here is the info from the TR website:

Call Norwegian Cruise Line’s Casino Reservation Center at 877-742-9519 to book and be sure to provide your Total Rewards number to receive your discount.

Your Total Rewards card gets you nothing on the ship. It will, however, help you get a booking discount. AND, by booking using your Total Rewards discount through CAS, you may get additional perks on board (depending on your total rewards level).

5000 points is the pearl tier and does NOT include waiving of cash fees, that perk comes at the Sapphire tier and that is 15001 points. Also you are misunderstanding the way it works, once you are Sapphire tier you can download money every day of the week and on the last night of the cruise those fees are removed from your folio. They do not remove it as you go.

CAS never advertises comped cruises at 2500 points in any of its casinos, that is Royal Caribbean.

Comp cruises from CAS are based on time spent in the casino, average bet, your daily theoretical and your actual losses.

CAS wants your theo to be at least $2500 to comp a cruise.
