Confused about booking reservations for Entertainment - Breakaway

Recommended Posts

We've cruised NCL many times - next trip will be the first on the Breakaway - never had to make reservations for Entertainment before (have had "reserved" spaces in the Theater as suite passengers)

Can someone explain the difference on the Entertainment on the Breakaway ?

(I see that you can make reservations on-line within vacation summary )

Thanks

4000+ people, a theater with capacity of 797, and limited times a show is performed during a cruise.. Reservations on the Breakaway ensures you have a seat to the show......

You can certainly not make reservations and take your chances for stand by

I assume that your previous cruises have been on the older, smaller ships, so you are wondering about the difference in the entertainment between the older and newer ships.

As you are aware, on the ships up to and including the Jewel class, the entertainment is presented in a fairly traditional cruise fashion. There is a different show each night which is on twice. You can go to either and due to the size on the theatre compared to the number of passengers there is usually room for everyone who wants to go. No reservations are necessary.

On the ships since the Epic, there are more entertainment venues. In addition to the Theatre there is Cirque (or its equivalent) plus venues like Headliners and a music venue. You don’t go to the theatre every night for your entertainment.

As has been stated, the size of the theatre compared to the number of passengers is a lot different. As a result, there are twice main shows that play there. They will likely each be on 2 or 3 nights a week with two shows a night. In order to control the crowds, reservations are made for these shows. If you don’t have a reservation then you can still queue up and take the place of any no shows.

There is often something else on in the theatre on the nights that the main shows aren’t. Usually these extras don’t require reservations.

If you generally go to the ships entertainment then you will find that your week is a lot different. Rather than spending 7 nights in the theatre during a week cruise, you may find that you go there twice for the main shows, again for a different show, to Cirque on another night, maybe Headliners for a comedy show, perhaps a couple of hours at Howl at the Moon on another night and maybe watch a band in the music venue on the other night.

Those with reservations gave a card and walked right in. Those that didn't have reservations stood in a long line until just before the start of the show and then were able to fill in the rest of the seats. Make sure to make reservations.

Even when you make reservations know two things. It's open seating, not reserved seats. And they open the standby line about 15 minutes before show time. It pays to arrive early.

There is a show in theater nightly. But the "big" productions are repeated on two nights.
