I was last on her in Nov 2015.

We were on her 2016 for the 21 day repositioning cruise from Ft Lauderdale to San Diego.

I am not sure what ATK is????? (I don't text)

America 's Test Kitchen- culinary arts center.

I was interested to see if she had the new Lincoln center area and if Norhern Lights was still there.

Westy's last drydock was (yikes) 2010, which doesn't mean nothing has been updated since then, just not major overhauls. Her next will be immediately after the transAtlantic you are considering: Apr 14 to 26, 2017.

I don't know what ATK is either.

According to cruisedeckplans, the upcoming drydock consists of:

Adding Casino Bar and Billboard Onboard in place of Piano Bar and Sports Bar. Replacing Northern Lights with Gallery Bar. Transforming Explorers Lounge into Lincoln Center Stage. Adding 18 balcony staterooms and 7 inside staterooms to deck 10 forward. Adding Retreat with Cabannas to Deck 11.

So you could look as the TAtl as your last chance to experience the 'old' Westerdam, or something to be avoided because OF the old arrangements. SOME people have reported (not necessarily about HAL, just somewhere on CC) that on the last cruise before a big drydock, work begins in the last days of that cruise -- carpet being torn up, etc.

I was sorry to have to cancel the Panama cruise just BEFORE the TrAtl you are considering. And I knew it was the penultimate cruise before drydock. It was also a great itinerary, not to be repeated in 2018. :(

Ha, we posted at the same time!

No on the Lincoln Center and Yes on the Northern Lights for the transAtlantic. After drydock in Italy, the reverse of that. Never both on this ship!

Westerdam's dry dock was later than what was posted.

We were on the ship in April & May, 2016.

The crew was a happy one and it showed. Great cruise.

Ship was in good shape and we enjoyed her more than planned with additional sea days ;). One thing I have noticed about the Westerdam is that they often get new entertainment to try out first. So, you could be in for something interesting.

We were on the Westerdam in November 2016. I watched a demo in the Test Kitchen and it seemed similar to cooking demonstrations in the past (been on the Westerdam 4 or 5 times!). Not sure what the big deal is about the ATK.

The chocolate shop was closed for the entire cruise. MDR dinner was still very good. BB King and the Adagio Duo were great. The Band and the main song and dance shows were so-so. The high-powered remote photo flashes in the Atrium on formal night were as annoying as ever. Other than that, it was the Westerdam as usual.

The current production shows onboard Westie are 'Ever After', 'All for Love' and 'Sound Stage'. They're about 2 1/2-year old shows by RWS Productions out of New York. Stilletto out of L.A. is being phased out and replaced by RWS and Belinda King Productions out of London. The high-resolution LED panels in the background of the stage, installed for these shows are awesome

I don't care much for the background LED panels used in the shows. They are usually too bright, causing the actors to appear backlit (dark) and usually detract from rather than add to what the performers are doing.

During our show the "main control computer" froze. The performers were dancing to silence for a while and finally the CD had to turn on the lights and stop the show while they rebooted the computer. Not kidding!

I am a professional software engineer in case you think I am some sort of Luddite.
