Booked casino rate

I just got this answered. I booked Early Saver which includes the price drop guarantee. My TA price matched the Casino rate and I got 50.00 plus the lower rate and I can price match again. It all depends on how you book to begin with.

So, I'm hoping it works the other way around too. Turns out my casino rate is only about $20 pp less than the early saver rate. It's for September and seems like those usually drop some closer to sailing. I booked on carnival website myself.

I just discussed this with a Carnival rep. It depends on the Casino Rate promo you use. I asked him about a PZ1...and he said any cabin change would incur the $99/pp penalty.

 

My issue was "if I booked casino rate" and wanted to change cabins would there be a penalty? It had nothing to do with the final cost.

 

 

You have to read the very fine print.

The short answer is probably, up until final payment due date, however there are exceptions. If you originally book early saver rate, and then price match to a casino rate you've qualified for, you can usually claim those price drops up until a couple days before sail date. If you initially booked casino rate, your rate may be refundable up until final payment date, but no price drops are usually granted after final payment due date. Be sure to read the fine print on your casino rate fare because some come with their own set of fare rules (like non-refundable deposit). It's important to know what fare code you booked under. Each code can carry its own set of fare rules.

 

Some of Carnival's casino rates are not as good lately as they have been in years past, so it seems there may be a greater likelihood of attractive future price drops this year. That was pretty rare in years past because it used to be that casino fares tended to be the lowest fares offered.

 

Be cautious about comparing others' outcomes to yours though because their booking circumstances/codes/fare rules may be different than yours. There are numerous types of casino fares. For example, if someone books a casino rate and then later wants to upgrade, upgrade may not be a possibility under the casino offer originally booked if the expiration date of that casino offer has passed. If that is the case, upgrade could be pretty expensive because its subject to current non-casino offer rates. And some casino offers are only good for guarantee cabins where a cabin is not assigned until later at Carnival's discretion.

You should be able to change cabins as long as they are the same category. If you are trying to change categories, there should be a penalty.

The code was PTF, it doesn't say anything about price protection. I wouldn't want to change rooms, but I would like to be able to get the difference taken off the balance due or OBC.

 

That's a better offer. You will be getting some house money. Since no mention of price protection, the answer is, it depends. I would call the Carnival casino department if you want more info.

Yes, I read the part about the casino credit but it doesn't say how much and I never received anything in the mail, just came up when I booked my September cruise. So, I don't know if they will honor it.

I always receive great bounce back offers from the casino on my last night onboard and book another cruise right away using the casino rate (usually have 2-3 weeks to do it). Awhile ago, I tried to upgrade to a suite and I was told I couldn't do it, so now I book the cabin type I want when I make the reservation. The cheapest rate, usually about $50pp, is only for the inside and ocean view cabins. OK for the 4-5 day cruises.

With the bounce backs I've found you can upgrade as long as you do it during that 14 day booking window. The day I get home I usually find a date that works and book a free interior. Then I price check the different options and if it's a good deal I call and upgrade. Has worked 3 times over the past 2 years as long as I call in during the 14 days. Last time I waited too long and they wouldn't do it because it was past the 14 days. My PVP told me it was because they have no way of getting the difference in price once the offer is gone.

If you call Carnival, they will tell you how much you are worth.

thanks everyone for the tips. I've never gotten what you are calling bounce back offer. My friend cruising with me a couple years ago got one the night before we got off the ship. Mine was just a casino rate listed under the vifp offers.

Looks like I got bum info when I booked my Sept 2019 cruise. Had casino PZ1 offer and was told by rep at the 800 number that I could not book ES and then price match to my PZ1 rate. Now I hear way to many people getting what I was told not available. Guess its who you work with

That’s why I only deal with my PVP. I despise the 800 number. I know more than a lot of them working there and I also have gotten bad info from them. One call to my guy and it’s handled right the first time.

I remember reading on this board the phone number that was used to call them no longer works. I think they may only respond now if you use their website to send a request.

If the past, I've used email casino@carnival.com but I don't know if that is still current since the casino changes took effect. In the past they've responded to my emails within a couple days. I like to get those emails because I can print them off to take with me on my cruise in case there are any discrepancies. I can't prove on a ship what someone previously told me on the phone.

My advice, don't book yourself, ALWAYS BOOK WITH A PVP!

You don't know the in's and out's, your PVP does!

example,,,you're looking at 2 cabins in a location you like, but you don't know that one is a 2 person cabin, the other a 3. You (a couple)book the 3, but later Carnival changes your cabin (for 3 people looking to book) to a 2 person cabin somewhere else on the ship you don't like!-(.

Your PVP could have told you, so this wouldn't happen! Of course there are other reasons besides this! Book on your own, you risk problems!
