Taking DD on much needed break on Fantasy 9/29. I've read through the last couple of years' posts on this thread and still need answers to a couple of questions.

Exactly what are the amenities in the bathroom?

Is there a regular plug at the desk area where I can plug in a power strip?

Have I understood correctly - we will get both a "room key thing" AND a cruise and sail card? If so, is the "room key thing" just another card or is it a regular key. Can the cards be punched?

Appreciate any and all help.

The amenities vary by room depending on what they have in stock. As for room key - it is ur sign and sail card.

I can never remember, Port or Starboard, we just look for the ashtrays.

Simple way to remember - Left and Port have 4 letters... Port is Left

Starboard must be right because it's more than 4 letters.....:D

Sometimes there are trial size samples of items in the bathrooms, but not always... the shower has dispensers of shampoo and liquid soap... bars of soap by the sink.

Yes, you can plug in a power strip, but make sure it is new or almost, because they will confiscate if not.

Your sign and sail card is your room key and it can be hole punched to put on a lanyard... guest services or the casino will hole punch it for you and the casino will give you a lanyard if you need one.

I believe that the designated smoking areas are noted in your fun times.

Have fun on the Fantasy... it's a great ship!

So there is shampoo in the shower but no conditioner, another thing to pack.

Thanks to all who have answered my questions. :D

The "shampoo" and "liquid soap" I think could be either product... honestly I (OK DW) brings shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, etc. I have used the stuff in the shower, not so much DW.

Might work better if I actually post the answer

Smoking is allowed on starboard side. And the bar by the casino. But just a small part of it

One note - after sometime in Oct. smoking is not allowed on balconies fleetwide. Not many of them on the Fantasy...

Okay I'm going to try again with pretty much the same questions now that we have moved to a GS () on the Fantasy. Will there be a hairdryer in the GS? Will the bathroom amenities be any better in the GS vice our original OV?

Also I'm assuming the mini-bar is one of those darn "pay as you use" things, am I correct?

Thanks again! :D

We had a GS on the Fantasy last time we sailed so here I go hairdryer yes mini bar same things as OV and bath amenities sames as OV but the size of the cabin makes up for it as well as the balcony

Going on our first cruise on Fantasy in a few weeks and I am curious as to how late we could show up at the port via taxi and have plenty of time to board. We live in Charleston so I would like to go work a few hours the morning of departure.

2 in my opinion is the latest, should be no problem getting right on and your cabin will be ready.... BUT WORK???? Ah, you must be like me and self-employed...

I can't believe people are letting this wonderful, helpful, informative thread languish.

And I'm not just saying that because I started it several years ago. No really! :p

Anyway, I recently booked another cruise on Fantasy but it isn't for well over a year from now.

For those who want to know what the cabin configurations are like, whether there's a sofa, or a fridge, or other such things, I go to cruisedeckplans dot com. You can do some browsing and find a page that will take you to cabins by deck. Select your deck, and you can then see exactly what is in your particular cabin.

It's a very useful site. I also like their page where you can drag decks to see if your cabin is above a club or under the galley or the Lido pool - any place where there might be noise that could be bothersome when trying to sleep.

In reality, I'm semi-hoping that Fantasy will be replaced by another ship in Charleston by the time I sail from there again. I love the old gal, but wouldn't be too upset if she were replaced. I haven't sailed her since Risa left. I typically don't notice CDs unless they're really annoying, but I liked her. Will be interesting to see how things have changed under a different CD.

This is not a response with shops or things to do on the Fantady, but just about our special memories of it.

We went on Fantasy for our first cruise in 1992 when she was still new. Years later when she sailed out of Mobile I booked the same cabin for our 25th anniversary and we renewed our vows. We've been on many cruises, but Fantasy will ALWAYS be special to us. It's a great ship and I hope we sail her again!
