numberguy Posted June 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Depending on the time and if we've already eaten, we either: 1. Eat in the MDR 2. Explore the ship. --Michael
timeforadaiquiri Posted June 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Drink with umbrella and on the top deck. It's all I need.
MissRabbit Posted June 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Depending on the time and if we've already eaten, we either: 1. Eat in the MDR 2. Explore the ship. --Michael I second that. Then after, i find a spot in a forward lounge to get a great view for departure.
paul929207 Posted June 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2010 We usually board early (11:30am or so), so the first thing we do is drop our carryons in our cabin. We then go to the library to get some books for the cruise. Then we go to the buffet for lunch
cb at sea Posted June 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Eating is not my first priority! We eat a late breakfast before heading to the ship, so we don't have to deal with the feeding frenzy that ensues! We wear our bathing suits (under clothes, of course) and hit the pool! This may be the only time you get your 1st choice of seats! Frosty drinks, sunshine....what more could you want?
STARFISH*4 Posted June 18, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2010 we see if we can drop our bags off--most of the time we have been able and then we go up to the buffet...grab our food and sit down and call our frens we have cruised with many times and say "GUESS WHERE WE ARE"...its TRADITION...they do the same if we arent with them!! then off to explore....like to be on board as soon as we can to START our CRUISE Vacation:)
Traveler353 Posted June 18, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Head to the Lido and have lunch.
Capt_BJ Posted June 18, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2010 given we have often stood in line for a hour or more checking in (RCL and NCL) we'd look for a bathroom...even b4 finding our room We do not usually board B4 recommended times so by the time we DO board, the room tends to be ready. And then we drop off our bags and begin to explore. But on quality lines where they greet us at the gangplank with a glass of wine, we just enjoy and slide into the ambiance
DonnaK Posted June 18, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 18, 2010 We usually explore the ship while it's still relatively empty, then have lunch in the buffet, then check our dining assignment to make sure it's suitable. On RCI ships with a promenade, we usually attend the cruise Expo at 2pm, sample some of the specialty restaurant foods, enter the raffles, etc. While we've never won, the people we were traveling with won a free excursion and a free spa treatment. tartanexile81 Posted June 18, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 18, 2010 We usually embark early-ish and go to the buffet like many others. After a snack we'll browse the deckplan we've brought along and use it to decide on a route to 'recce' the areas we're likely to use. Which pool? Which bar? What's the menu like in the speciality restaurant? After that we'll drop into the library whilst there's still a good choice of books and hopefully it won't be too long after that before they announce that our cabin is ready! And our cruise really starts because we love being in the cabin we've chosen so carefully!
Fredr Posted June 18, 2010 #12 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Hello, Once in our cabin, my wife and I would hug one another and jump up and down! We did this on each one of our 28 cruises except for the last one, in March of 2010. She was hurting too much from cancer. She is gone now but I will always remember that crazy hug and dance we would do.

BroncosFan2010 Posted June 19, 2010 #16 Share Posted June 19, 2010 If the rooms are open: I drop off my luggage. If not, I grab lunch then head to MDR to make sure we got a table for two, and then to speciality restaurants to make reservations.

UlvaZell Posted June 19, 2010 #19 Share Posted June 19, 2010 just curious to see what the first thing everyone does as soon as they board the ship? If the luggage has arrived yet (yeah right) we unpack and then explore the ship before the lifeboat drill or if it has been a long flight potentially take a power nap... FUN33 Posted June 19, 2010 #24 Share Posted June 19, 2010 We try to unpack & get the room completely organized before lifeboat drill. Once that is out of the way is total relaxation.
SeaTeach Posted June 20, 2010 #25 Share Posted June 20, 2010 We like to get on as early as possible. If allowed we store the carryons in the room, and head to lunch. Afterwards , we locate our table in the diningroom, then explore the ship. We unpack instead of exploring if we've sailed on the ship before.
