Ship -Oasis of the Seas

Deck - 6

Stateroom # - 6636

Stateroom Category –Accessible Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, very quiet, except for the room above with kids jumping off beds at all hours, till my husband got up on a chair and pounded on the ceiling!

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. –

No obstructions. Entrance to balcony has a ramp so if door is not opened completely you could trip since ramp folds upward when door is closed and lays flat when opened completely.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized, as room is on side of hump. Very large, slightly angled

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? -

We had a problem with the A/C. Room was overly humid and warm. I called maintenance about 5 times during the cruise who said the room was cool on their monitors (?) but it was not. We had guests who also complained, actually saying, "Is it me, or is this room very warm?" In order to keep the room livable we had to keep drapes closed. They would fix the a/c it would work for 24 hrs then back to the heat. We had the JS next door on a prior cruise just 10 mos earlier and the a/c was wonderful. I also think having to keep the drapes closed cancels out the advantage of having a balcony room.

Any other comments? -

We had smokers in the room next door who would smoke on the balcony. We did report it and didn't have anymore problems. Went to store our luggage under the bed and found "clean" linen under the bed in open, unzipped plastic bags. Room steward said yes, they use those linens! Bed skirts on the beds were loose and falling off looking tacky and making the beds uninviting. Mattresses were uncomfortable with dips and bumps even with an eggcrate. Room steward was barely visible and did just what was required. We left notes for more ice and he'd only leave 1/2 bucket although we had wine and asked for that to be full. None of this ruined our cruise but the room was not as comfortable as it should have been and it actually looked like a cheap motel. I would not book this room again.

Ship - Explorer of the Seas

Deck - 3

Stateroom # 3246

Stateroom Category – Ocean View

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Quiet.

Nice location near the elevators.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No

Was wind a problem? -No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -forward cabin

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Cabin was nice. Kids bunks were directly above ours with just an open center of about 2.5 feet over our bed. No bed privacy. Still a decent amount of room near sofa for changing.

Any other comments? - Since it's a forward cabin and most things/meals occur in aft there is a lot of walking up to the 4th floor (outside) or 5th Fl Promenade to cross over to the back of the ship. We crossed through 4th floor casino once but it was way too smokey for kids to walk through

Ship - Adventure

Deck - 7

Stateroom # - 7694

Stateroom Category – JS

Starboard or Port Side - AFT

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, very few passers by as aft. However, on the deck below some people were playing on an open area - not sure they were meant to be there though, it appears they had climbed over their balconies.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No

Balcony View - Lovely view out, slightly more shaded. There is some ship structure within view, but we didn't find it a problem. You get a good view of the wake, but to see any land you need to stand at the front of the balcony and look across adjoining rooms.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Lovely large balcony.

Was wind a problem? -No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Didn't notice any

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - We were on a short 4 day cruise and decided to try an aft cabin. The cabin was fine, you feel more ship movement. The balcony is quite big and has more shade than we have previously experienced on RC cruises. No sure whether I'd opt for aft again, unless I can get one on the corner.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The view was perfect. No obstructions. The balcony had 2 chairs and a small table and was covered. If you know the people on either side of you, there are doors on the balcony that can be locked in the open position to give all of you a shared larger balcony. We wished we had booked port side though, because at all of the ports, we were on the "wrong" side. We like to see all of the activity at the port.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Ship -Independence of the seas

Deck - 6

Stateroom # - 6575

Stateroom Category – promenade

Starboard or Port Side - port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – No! This is directly above the Dog & Badger Pub , & the noise transmits terribly . They had a live singer & guitarist, with people joining in singing, & didn't finish til the early hours of the morning

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -

Any other comments? - I highly do not recommend this cabin unless you are deaf, or don't return to your cabin until 2am or later. I don't know why Royal Carribean doesn't sound proof the cabin.

Ship - Vision of the Seas

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8088

Stateroom Category – JS

Starboard or Port Side - Port (aft corner cabin)

Quiet Stateroom? – Very quiet.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No.

Balcony View - Our view was incredible, as this cabin has a wrap-around balcony, so you have a portside view as well as the aft view. Great views of the wake. No obstructions whatsoever.

Balcony Size? - This cabin has a huge balcony. I had a chance to step onto another JS balcony on this ship, and it didn't compare in size to ours. Area-wise, I would estimate that it is three to four times the size of the other JS balconies. I believe that 8088 and 8588 are the only JS balconies like this on the Vision. With the multi-directional views, you have almost a 270 degree range of vision. We had several hours of sun each day, and the balcony is large enough that it also has shaded areas as well.

Was wind a problem? - Hardly any wind at all.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No soot.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems.

Any other comments? - This is a nice sized cabin with a full-sized tub and shower. I would book it again in a heartbeat. The cabin is located at the very back of the ship and not near any elevators, so keep that in mind for anyone who may be mobility-challenged.

Ship - Serenade of the Seas

Deck - 7

Stateroom # - 7596

Stateroom Category – E3

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – No, sound system from Centrum is blasted all the way up to the 7th floor. There are speaks mounted on the 7th floor for anything happening on the 4th floor in the Centrum area. We would close the fire doors from the hallway to the business center, but you still could hear some of the noise. On the good side of it, all the music would stop by 11 or 12 every night.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great views towards the bow, but aft was blocked by hump.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Very much undersized.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Just the Centrum speaker system noise.

Any other comments? - Would not book this cabin again.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - The only problem we had was the shower curtain didn't reach the floor so it got the bathroom really wet during a shower.

Ship - Explorer

Deck - 10

Stateroom # - 1320

Stateroom Category – OS Owner's Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? – Most of the time, yes. We heard deck furniture being dragged around in the morning, and could hear kids running (presumably to the ice cream machine as we were right below it)

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Decent view as it is on the hump. Explorer balconies are all "in hull" though so they don't have a really open feel.

Balcony Size? - Normal for class. Furniture consisted of two imitation wicker chairs w/cushions and a matching large round table with glass top - large enough to comfortably dine out there.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None

Any other comments? Location is amazing and very convenient- aligned with the aft stairwell. We didn't have to walk down a hallway to get to our cabin...ever. We initially were concerned that it might be noisy there (being right at stairs) but we never had any hallway noise.

Quiet Stateroom? very quiet room

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? no

Balcony View - normal, unobstructed

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? na

Any specific problems with this cabin? none

Any other comments? This is the farthest forward balcony room on 9 Starboard. The rooms farther forward were oceanview rooms. There was a solid balcony divider between the balcony and the oceanview room next door, so you could not see the front of the ship without leaning over the railing. (Not an issue, but a question we had before sailing that no one at RCI could answer.)
