Rare Terre Posted September 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2010 We will be going to Alaska May 28, so technically the first week of June. Will it be warm enough to use the pools on board?

Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted September 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2010 I wouldn't take a cruise without a swimsuit (or 5), but we enjoy the hot tubs even if the weather is inclement.
cruisinalong001 Posted September 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2010 On our cruise a couple of years ago, it was mostly kids in the pool. However, the hot tubs were great. Just bring a warm up suit to put on afterwards if its chilly. Enjoy your trip:)!
robgvic Posted September 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2010 How much space will a swim suit take in your luggage? I's take it even if just to use hot tubs and saunas
Rare Terre Posted September 14, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted September 14, 2010 All good points. I'm just afraid it may be too cold or raining, but you've convinced me to take it!
Rare PatriciaF Posted September 14, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2010 Isn't there a covered pool to use? Just take the robe from your room to put on after you get out of the hot tub--why get your own clothes wet?
Sherri1 Posted September 15, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Hot tub ! We met the nicest friends on our Alaska cruise in the hot tub-too cold for much else. Sherri
rdsqrl Posted September 15, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Even if it's cold outside, there's an indoor pool, so definitely take 'em! To me, a swimsuit is like my AmEx card: don't leave home without it. Actually, it's better than my AmEx card: no fees, burns calories, no bill at the end of the month. FIRSTSGT Posted September 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2010 when i went in 2006 the outdoor pool water was heated.
whatcruiseisnext Posted September 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2010 WE use the robes in our cabin and on the balcony. I would NEVER think of wearing the robe out in public. In fact, it is comical to hear people joking about the people who DO wear the robes to the pool. Keep doing it though...always gets lots of chuckles and giggles. karenem Posted September 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2010 One of my best Alaska cruise memories was relaxing in the nearly deserted aft hot tub for the sailaway from Ketchican. Cool, misty, and incredible. A bald eagle flew right past the ship and we saw whales.

Tweedy Posted September 15, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 15, 2010 We were in Alaska the first week of June in 2009. We had fantastic weather. It was so warm in Ketchikan, it felt like we were in Hawaii. I'd take it. But on the flip side. I had two coworkers visit Alaska the first and second week of June in 2008. The first coworker who went the first week of June had beautiful sunny weather. The coworker who boarded the ship the same day the other coworker disembarked had snow on his cruise... it's a crap shoot.
MichTraveler Posted September 15, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Been to Alaska late mid to late May six times and the weather varies. Once only the 10-11 kids in the kid's club were in the pool once the whole week. In 2009, the last two days were so sunny and warm that the pool and pool chairs were filled. I like to use the spa and take a swimsuit to enjoy that area. I am booked one week before you on 5/21. Should be fun!

Rare Terre Posted September 16, 2010 Author #17 Share Posted September 16, 2010 Will you need swimsuits???? Depends on how modest you are!!!! There's always one, isn't there?:p I think we'll take our chances...DH loves the hot tubs, but I can stay in them too long. Maybe we'll get lucky and have some warm temps. Thanks, everyone.
FLACRUISER99 Posted September 16, 2010 #18 Share Posted September 16, 2010 My 1st. trip to Alaska was in mid May and it was very warm, if fact it was almost 80 in Anchorage!
Sqweetie Posted September 16, 2010 #19 Share Posted September 16, 2010 My friend and I went to Alaska the end of May, first week of June this year and the weather was fabulous! It was in the 70's most of the time. In Skagway we were going to go in the hot tub and it was too warm - both the air and the water, so we took a little dip in the pool. I'm sure some people thought we were crazy, but we're from Maine so we're tough! On our only drizzly day in Ketchikan the hot tub was nice (but we still weren't cold) I say bring it! I guess if you join the polar bear club but you can always use the hot tubs. ;)
