court1683 Posted October 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2010 The hubby-to-be and I will be bringing backpacks to each port. We were wondering if our bags will have to be checked each time before getting back onto the ship.

link99 Posted October 6, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2010 They sure do. Just like the Airport except the shoes. They even have a Drug dog around now and then to.
Cruzface Posted October 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2010 Yes, why? Obviously, they are thinking of bringing something onto the ship that the ship may not allow. Like...heaven forbid....alcohol!

EVALUATOR Posted October 6, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2010 I have been on 5 cruises and have never seen a "drug dog" at any port. Oh yeah. Even saw one go into an owner's suite on one cruise. And the dog got a lot of "good dog" pats on the back on the way out.

Cruzface Posted October 6, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2010 Makes sense. I just don't remember seeing one. Maybe they were disguised or I was oblivious:cool:

Maybe they were disguised or I was oblivious:cool: I'm guessing you were having too much fun to notice any dogs and bet you will probably see them on your next cruise :D ###
Scotty G Posted October 6, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 6, 2010 I have been on 5 cruises and have never seen a "drug dog" at any port. There are working dogs at the ports. Passengers cannot always see them but take it from someone retired from the job, they are there.
Coralc Posted October 6, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 6, 2010 Makes sense. I just don't remember seeing one. Maybe they were disguised or I was oblivious:cool: I think it was the Canal cruise, when we disembarked in San Francisco. My husband opened the stateroom door, closed the door. He said, "There's a dog out there in the hall" I said, "By himself?" Hs, "No, he's with a handler, in uniform." Is, "What kind of dog?" Hs, "German Shepard" Is, "Oh drug dog, what's he doing? Where's he going? I want to see him working" They bring them onboard at some ports. But I think you are reading much more into the OP's original question than was asked. :)
BND Posted October 6, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 6, 2010 You do have to wonder why someone would ask that question. Not only do they put all bags through x-ray machines, each person has to walk through metal detectors. Even knowing that, people still try to sneak all kinds of stuff onboard. And, I've also seen dogs in ports.
Aprille Posted October 6, 2010 #15 Share Posted October 6, 2010 I have been on 5 cruises and have never seen a "drug dog" at any port. Me thinks you just haven't been looking. ;) We saw dogs at all ports on our cruise on Oasis last month. (Nassau, St Maarten & St Thomas) I'll bet you'll see dogs on your next cruise because you'll be looking for them after this thread.

Alexis Posted October 6, 2010 #17 Share Posted October 6, 2010 We have also seen the dogs on the piers. I guess some of us notice them because we are animal lovers. :D Anyone who thinks they are not really there is mistaken. ;) :Originally Posted by Cruzface I have been on 5 cruises and have never seen a "drug dog" at any port. =Aprille;26371058]Me thinks you just haven't been looking.
