Who has reached Pinnacle Club status on C&A?

Not casino related. Pinnacle is the hughest level in Royal's loyalty organization, called Crown & Anchor. You need 700 points, which equates to 700 nights at sea, or 350 nights in a suite.

Not sure of the number but 600+ sounds about right. I do know that this board's moderator, Kewlguy, just reached Pinnacle level a few weeks back Congratulations Tony.:)

 

While I didn't meet Kewlguy(congrats) the ones I met in the Cl were vey nice and would be glad to sail with them again.

 

Dont know if one person I sat next to was a Pinnacle, but his wife kept on falling asleep during the shows:D

Nuno on the Liberty told me that there is an 11 year old Pinnacle.

 

I have heard - I think that we all have heard this - that Pinnacle, among the levels, is NOT achievable through family status, but only by sailing the right number of nights/cruises. (except for spouses. i.e., kids NO)

 

Apparently, this couple made SUCH a stink that the kid was given P status to shut them up. (MY words, not Nuno's ;))

 

That really is a shame that they caved to that. But oh well. We just got off the Legend back in December, and we met (again) the young man who is almost Pinnacle. He is currently age 23. Very nice, polite, and an avid cruiser.

It's clear that you all are united by a common love of cruise vacations. Nothing wrong with that.

However, I find it a bit unsettling to read posts congratulating people on the "accomplishment" of having forked over a ton of discretionary income on vacations and achieving the equivalent of frequent flyer miles. I mean we are not talking about having saved someone's life or having some humanitarian successes.

That part aside, I am curious about what the perceived value is of the loyalty categories. Because when you consider a return on investment, having a fairly modest booking discount or 2-3 hours per day of free booze doesn't seem like a big payout. It can't be because of a lapel pin.

That leaves the intangible question of the worth of status or bragging rights. It appears to be a very strong motivator and, therefore, an extremely clever and effective marketing tool. Many people like exclusivity and prestige and they have every right to savor it and it clearly has motivated many people to remain loyal to one cruise line in hopes of attaining status.

So, the whole quest is harmless and is your own financial decision to make. However, can you understand how congratulating each other on having spent large sums of money is somewhat odd and perhaps even crass? Yep, I know I am going to get blasted.

Life is about living. My attitude is provided I have secured assistance for my DD after me and DH are gone, then whatever else is left enjoy it. Why sit there watching the pennies and being miserable. Have fun. None of us know what's around the corner.

Surprise! I am not a penny pincher. Been fortunate enough to go on several cruises and to have enjoyed other types of vacations as well. You can spend your money any way you want. For many people, there isn't a lot of money to spend.

I guess the difference is that I am not counting off my holidays as points and congratulating myself on how many points I have and how many more points I "need." That kind of metric isn't something I am comfortable with.

I wonder what will be created for something to reward people who are triple pinnacles?

There are ones counting points up get to a target for a better cruise experience but rarely do they cruise just for points

They cruise for the enjoyment of cruising

 

As I said everyone does what they want and their own given circumstances

 

As far as you looking at whatever thread you want, you are more than welcome and have the same right as anyone to do so

 

You clearly don't seem to see why we enjoy being d or d+ or pinnacle and don't seem to see eye to eye with why we do what we do

 

Your post appears to be one placed actually to stir up others and not to boost , enrich and uplift others which is why a lot ( won't say all but reckon would be close) who are very experienced cruisers are here

Plus if course to learn likewise off others experiences

If that is true then it is a shame. A rule is a rule and to cave in teaches nothing to either the parents or the child. I am well ahead of my DD in terms of points, so obviously I will logically reach Pinnacle before her. But I don't expect things to just be handed to her on a plate. Rules are rules for a purpose.

 

Luckily for my DD she will turn D+ in her own right this year so she won't really be affected by all the issues of status being reverted to actual points earned but status maintained when she turns 18 as she will already be a pretty good level.

 

I suspect most complaints come from parents that may have only sailed once or twice with their kids but sailed a lot without them and have significantly higher status so are probably opposed to them reverting to their actual points earned when the turn 18. I may be wrong but just my thoughts.

We cruise because we love it. RCI was our line of choice for a few years and we ended up Pinnacle. Right now we are off the coast of CA on Sapphire Princess because they have a weekend cruise for us that RCI does not. It's all good.:)
