Is there a "perfect" Royal Caribbean cruise length?

I'd like a 350 night cruise in the Royal Suite, or Presidential Suite...large enough to "move-in". At the end you would be Pinnacle.

I hope to do a 2 week cruise in the near future sicne 7 days ends too quickly. I suppose I could hop a ride to Europe on May 1st on the Voyager. Then the trip ends at home the night of the day we arrive in Europe.

We took 2 seven night cruises and absolutely loved them both. Seven nights on a ship was great, so why not more? We are doing a 10 night cruise next month and are really excited about the itinerary - all places we've never been. This is our first on RCI though so we aren't sure what to expect. 10 nights may spoil us for anything less! We'll let you know!

After many cruises one of the most disappointing cruises we took was years ago on the Paul Gauguin in Tahiti for seven days. With the hassle of flying from the North East USA and the hours it took to get there seven days was just tooooooo short. We did not know we could have done a B2B. We learned our lesson as it was so hard to leave the ship and beautiful French Polynesia. Now we only book cruises of 9 days or more no matter the port of disembarkation. We just returned from a 12 night cruise deparating close to home to the Caribbean and the length was perfect with sea days and port days. I know a lot depends on vacation time but if you can swing, squeeze etc. a few extra days go for it...............it is soooooo worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We did eventually go back for a second cruise on the PG which included the Marquesas for 14 days and the experience was awesome and just perfect in every aspect. Of course anytime cruising is better than no cruise but I would rather save up now for a longer cruise and wait until I can get away for at least 9 days, absolutely no less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now for me...5-7 nights is just right...I have cat's & finding someone to take care of them for more than 8 nights is just hard to do...maybe when I retire & the "pack" has thinned down I can try a longer cruise...:p

I don't like to keep my dog in boarding for more than two weeks, otherwise there wouldn't be a cruise too long for me.:)

I've done a 14 nights and last year a 2x7 nights back to back. For me, shorter cruises are not worth it, since I have to fly in from Europe. I could of course still do a 7 night European cruise, but then I'd have to fly too and it would seem too short. I could probably even live on a cruise ship :D

What, in your opinion, is the "perfect" length of cruise as far as nights go?

I have only been on two 5 night cruises and one 3 night cruise and even the 5 night cruises were too short, time flew by quickly, and I left sad and wanting much more.

My next cruise will definitely be a 7 nighter and will be on the Freedom. Due to work, I really cant take off any longer but is a 7 night cruise a little better?

Has anyone ever been on board long enough that you are ready to disembark and get home when the time comes?

Just looking for some input and opinions........I would love to do a 10+ nighter but my budget or work just will not allow.

TIA for any participation in this thread. I realize answers will vary greatly. I dont think I will ever go on a cruise shorter than 7 nights from now on though.:o

And RCI offered one it would be at least a 30 day cruise!:);) Could literally sail around the world if I had the means!

Great question, I am going to give my 2 cents and then read the replies I see you already have. As far as the sad feeling, It's called POST CRUISE DEPRESSION and I had it on every cruise, except for my last 4 day on Majesty. The only reason I didn't have it then was this was a bonus cruise that we didn't plan on taking and had our next cruise already planned.

So far I have done 7,3,7,5, and 4 with another 7 day coming up. Like you we both work and 7 is all that is practical for us now. Some people, especially people who have to fly to a port can't see doing less than a 7 day. I think I would start getting home sick after 7 days, but later in life if a lot of my family is gone and my daughter's family is moved out of town where we don't see them as much, I could imagine doing a longer cruise.

It look more than 30 messages, but someone finally mentioned pets. At 7 days I start to worry about them as well.

Ok, just finished the thread so far, as I suspected, great question with some great and interesting answers, lots of different perspectives.

Great question!

I've only been on 7 night cruises - can't imagine going less than that (although I would!) because 7 feels too short for us. I would love to do a B2B (2B2B2B... lol).

My parents had only been on shorter cruises (5 days and under) - the Freedom was their first 7 day. They couldn't believe how much nicer it was than the shorter cruises, and are now sold on week long cruises.

For both of us, the 7 nighters are what is practical. My dad has a practice that he can't be away from for long, and my children can't miss (too much) school and my husband has to earn the $$$ for our little hobby. Once I become independently weathly and/or hit retirement, I'll be trying the longer cruises. :D

For me the weekend three night Monarch cruise is perfect. Leave Friday afternoon. Next day catch SCs free bus to the other side of Nassau and do an afternoon dive. Get back and walk to Atlantis or the old fort. Next day check out CCC in the morning hit the casino in the afternoon. And the next day you are back. Works real well if Monday is a holiday.

I think a lot depends on how far you live from the port. If we lived in within and hour or two from a port even a 3 day cruise might be in the cards. However we travel by car for 10 hours, stay overnight, deal with car parking, stay overnight again after then 10 hours drive home again. I don't think we would do this for anything less than a 5 dayer and the longer the better. We will be doing our 3rd cruise in 3 years out out of Baltimore- First was 7 days, Second 8 days, upcoming 9 days- all worth the time and drive.
