OK...I get the 'no one under 18' part....but seriously? A baby in a stroller.... can you say power trip?

But if you let a baby in a stroller in, then.....it's a 3 year old, then a 4 year old then.....a 12 year old.....a 16 year old....

Where do you draw the line?

When they aren't in a stroller??? Seems like a nice line. But if we ban the poor baby in a stroller, that would mean we'd have to ban all the scooter people!

Really! This has to be one of the silliest comments I have every heard. There is a big difference between a child in a stroller and an adult on a scooter.

I think the OP was just trying to amuse us with the story of how s/he got busted for inadvertently contributing to the delinquency of a toddler.

thank you PartyAllDaTyme....I keep forgetting that some people have little humor and don't catch my sophisticated jokes. The problem of using posts and not seeing or hearing the tone of voice and inflections of what we really mean. Been bit before. There was a thread on ship's water and using bottled water and I cracked a joke, and boy did I get hit up side the head. People arguing and insulting each other over water??? Weird. The thread was actually removed over the caustic back-and-forths.

And I got caught in the middle of the Broadsides! Loved this thread...just think, kicked out of a Casino. And the baby can take full credit when they grow up and tell everybody.

Don't they have smokers or drink package cheaters to bust somewhere??

What you have to understand is, once you're given an inch, there will always be others who want to take a yard. Once they allow people to spend time in the casino just pushing a stroller, then you'll have someone who'll say, "Well, if I can push a baby in a stroller, why can't I just stop pushing the stroller and sit here and play the machines?". Can you see the inherent problem with that? They have rules for a reason, and I don't think it's unreasonable for the casino staff to enforce their rules. After all, there are plenty of spaces anywhere on a ship to push a stroller. Plus, if the reason was to put the child to sleep, I hardly think a noisy casino is the place to be.

I know oxymoron is supposed to refer to adjacent words, but is there a term for side-by-side contradictory ideas? For example, "I get the no one under 18 part" and then immediately proving that you don't get it at all?

You're not serious? You have no business in a Casino with a baby in a stroller.

You take up too much space; can you imagine what it would be like with 50 patrons with strollers walking around and clogging up the area. More importantly, a casino is no place for a kid, period.

50 Strollers?? Did no one understand the OP was just sharing a little light humor - she walked around in the Casino a little since her baby apparently liked the lights and noise of the machines. Lighten up. this isn't the slippery slope of a army of monster munchkins taking over the Casinos!

Edited My post. Decided I was being too nasty and off subject.

I think Squidward might show us a photo of baby Franklin in a tux, if we are well-behaved and ask nicely! That was a previous cruise, though, and he's probably outgrown it by now.

Btw, I did find that one of those people-scooters WAS blocking traffic in the casino (I was on the same cruise).

Have you MET some of the scooter people?? They are a scary breed, and I would take a 1000 screaming babies with diaper rash over a small group of scooter people any cruise of the year!! :D

BTW...most scooter peeps are us Americans....

I guess they feel if they make an exception for you, then they will have other kids who are older maybe loitering around. Same with adult only pools. I have heard parents say their kid is quiet, so why can't they go in the pool where they can see them. I have three kids (all grown now), and I had to adhere to the rules too. You can't have it both ways I guess.

I'm glad that you played it cool, like other comments, it's a shame that they don't 'enforce' some of the more plainly ignored 'rules' ie. sunbeds and refusing to alcohol rub when entering buffets etc..

Cruising is still a great holiday and I hope you are all able to enjoy them, cruises that is, and laugh at the more entertaining 'clipboard syndrome' occurances...

Many years ago in Las Vegas, I had my (then) 8-year-old daughter stand at the entrance between the hotel lobby and casino to wait for me while I went into the casino to speak to my parents (who were at a nearby slot machine). Same scenario -- I saw a gentleman in a suit with walkie-talkie go over and speak to her...then she pointed at me...and I immediately went over to see what the problem was. He told me that it was a $500 fine to the casino and to me for having a minor anywhere NEAR a casino. He was very nice about it, but needless to say, I didn't do that again!

Since the casinos on the ships are run by gaming houses, that rule apparently still holds true even on the ships.

I'm glad you took it all in stride, and your baby went to sleep.

I don't think WE need to draw a line that's already there. No one under 18 allowed. Seems pretty clearly drawn to me! Why do people find it so hard to follow a rule. Are they so intimidated? Do they feel so conceited and above everyone else that they get some sort of elevated ego if they get to do something that everyone else is not permitted to do. If something/anything happened to that child while in that casino, they'd be the first person to sue the cruise line. Chances are, they were the bullies back in grade school and still haven't grown out of it!! Put your big boy pants on and worry about life's serious hurdles!! Happy Cruising everyone! :)

Way too much cigarette smoke in there.....The ship is massive...Why did you pick the most disgusting part of ship to walk your baby???

There is NO smoking in X casinos. Not the most disgusting place on the ship, guess you have not heard of the no smoking policy?

Really, I think people are really going a little crazy about this. The OP was being lighthearted and is now getting accusations of feeling above others, too good for the rules etc. Lighten up people. A dad with a baby he knows better than any of you took the kid for a walk. His kid liked the noise of the casino. Maybe none of you have met them but many kids are actually lulled to sleep better by noise than quiet. He was not trying to gamble, just walking through. He was not upset by being asked to leave, just found it funny (at least the way I read it) and thought he'd share his funny story.

Good grief.

Amazing!

This whole thread is "Much Ado About Nothing!"

Sure was sensationalized with the title "thrown out", it sounded more like he was nicely asked to leave! I've been thrown out of places, and there is a difference! :D

Based on past observations and experience, that really isn't a very well defined line. I've seen some pretty big kids (guessing around age 7 or 8) riding in a stroller, and I've seen some barely 1 year olds walking beside their stroller. You gonna tell the parent of the 1 year old who's tired of sitting in his stroller that he has to leave, while the couple with a 7 year old can stay, because their child is wedged in a stroller?
