Wow, you sure have had a tough 6 months. Sorry to hear about your Mom's recent fall. I'm a nurse case manager and see a lot of those stubborn ones. It seems like when it rains it pours. But then the rain brings flowers and rainbows ;-)

When you get the dress, be sure and post a pic oof yourself in it.

I'll be sure too. I ordered a 'little black dress' off ebay too. it should be in the mail today Going home tomorrow evening to work Mon and Tues if they don't do surgery. Will get it then. Thank god for laptops or I would be FOOL sitting up here in this hospital room.

I faxed the form today for the vow renewal on our cruise. ;-)

Tried "the dress" on today, and I must say I thought I looked great.

I've lost 20lbs since November and would like to lose at least 10 more before the cruise so I have plenty of "room" to enjoy the food and extra goodies LOL.

Congrats on the weight lost. I would love to take off a few pounds but it's hard to do when you are away from home having to eat out. Would love to see 'the dress' on you. I finaly decided to go ahead and get the one I was looking at on ebay. should be in by the weekend. The 'little black dress' was a little to revealing for my taste. Glad I only paid $20 for it because I can't return it. I might can get a nice satin jacket to wear with it and make it work otherwise I just relist it on ebay.

Very pretty. I'm not going to even do rings because hubby doesn't wear his because of work and I can't wear mine because of fibromyalgea. Everytime I put a ring on in 15 - 20 minutes my figures are swollen so bad I have to soak it off. Just trying to figure out how to plan it without him knowing it and everything turn out good.

I have heard of couples exchanging a single rose or some other token instead of rings. If thats something you are interested in you might call Carnival and see if that's something their florist can provide.

From what I understand they call you when you get on board to set everything up. I would imagine Carnival could tell you how they handle it, and how they can help you keep it secret and surprise your Hubby.

Of course the pic of the ring I posted is a super enlarged photo. The diamonds are much small, it has a total gem weight of .5 carat, my fingers are small so I didn't want anything very big. (ring is being sized down to a 5).

We renewed our vows last September for our silver wedding. We had planned to do it abroad, just the two of us, but our daughter rebelled;) She couldn't travel with us as she is a teacher and our anniversary falls within term time, so we arranged to renew the vows in the church where we were married.

This was my dress - I took it on our cruise to the Caribbean this year as well, it travelled beautifully

With regard to whether to exchange rings - we chose to exchange new rings. Hubby had wanted to buy me the engagement ring he had always wanted to do, but money for essentials was a priority when we first married. He started the ball rolling for the vow renewal in April last year when I actually had "Breakfast At Tiffanys". We were in Heathrow Airport having breakfast outside Tiffanys and he took me in to choose a new ring:) We chose to go for rings that were "silver" coloured (although all ended up being platinum for durability). Our new wedding rings were made for us at an artisan jewellers in Wales. The new rings were blessed during the service.

By doing it this way, our Daughter was delighted because she got to carry the rings along the aisle for us

I did my own hair - the local hairdressers were full with big wedding parties, I chose a simple french pleat (I'm sure a hairdresser could have done a fancier job) and wore a jewelled hairband/tiara

I hope you have a wonderful day - our vow renewal certainly felt very special for us.

Thank you so much:)

It's lovely to read through a thread where so many people are planning for or reminiscing on their special event.

You both looked so happy and you looked just beautiful. It must have been so special to renew your vows on board.

Lilianai, what a lovely dress and ceremony. So wonderful to have your daughter involved.

I love my wedding rings and don't want anything new. We both wanted/needed new right hand rings, so it works out great for us.

Bring on more photos, this is so much fun.

My DH and I renewed our vows last year on the Sun Princess Sydney / New Zealand cruise for our 25th Anniversary. There was only us and our 2 friends and I loved every moment of the day. The cost was only $250 and which included a bouquet of orchids, lapel flower, the service, photographer including photos, champagne and canapes. Everything was organised and we were collected from our cabin and escorted to the library which was transformed beautifully and filled with flowers. We wrote our own vows and the captain performed the service beautfully and celebrated with us. We did not exchange new rings as I have not removed my wedding ring since my husband put it on my finger although I did recieve a beautiful gold bangle. It was a 6 pm service and as it was a formal night people were dressed up so it seemed like everyone was celebrating with us! We had a casual service but dressed up for the night. The Hotel Secretary organised everything and we and our friends were invited up to the bridge at a later date and also issued with priority tender passes. We felt very special for the whole cruise. I will try to attach photos

bumble b62, you and dh looked wonderful. So glad you had a wonderful ceremony and cruise. By the way, Princess is very reasonably priced - Celebrity charges $650 for the ceremony performed by the captain.

You look so beautiful and happy. I feel the same way about my original wedding rings, so we got right hand rings instead.

We are doing our renewal on the Princess Coral in Sept. Our package is a bit different then yours, and is $220, it includes:

A renewal of vows ceremony, Orchid bouquet and boutonniere for the ceremony, Commemorative certificate for “renewal of vows”signed by the Captain, One bottle of champagne for your stateroom, Two Princess-engraved souvenir champagne glasses, A framed formal portrait, 14-piece Godiva heart-shaped box of chocolates

I loved my original wedding band too. My fingers had become smaller over the years to the extent that I was now 2 sizes smaller than the original ring (I'm just under a US ring size 4) and couldn't bear to "break the circle" it represented to have any removed. It had reached the point where my rings fell off in cold weather and I was paranoid about losing them.

Having the new rings blessed was very important to us - so a civil ceremony would not have done that job.

Took my ring to the jeweler today to get it sized down. Picked up my hubbys ring. Only four months till we cruise.

Can't wait. I really need this vacation LOL

Any more pics of dresses? Also pics or suggestions about any special things you did with your hair.

Drew's wife, lovely dress, I really like the blue at the waist, and I love the shoes. I haven't thought much about the shoes I am going to wear yet.

Where did you get them?

Suzque,

I am so sorry! I guess I did not see your question asking where I got the shoes. Please forgive me...sometimes I have "Blonde" moments.:o:D

I purchased the white shoes at Sears.com...however I did take them back after finding the blue shoes. I bought the blue shoes at David's Bridals. I wanted to make sure they matched the sash to the dress, and knew that was the best way to make sure they matched.

I'm getting excited! While Drew was at his meeting the other night...I tried on my dress and shoes...just so that I could have the chance to wear them for a few minutes.:)
