Cagney's for Embarkation

As do many of the CC folks, I regard this perk as one of the reasons to sail in a suite! Don't forget the breakfast, too.

Check with your Cagney's staff about the hours, they vary by half an hour for breakfast for various reasons. For example, on the first Cabo day they opened at a different time than the second Cabo day! I think it has to do with the time of the first tender.

Anyway, do check with them. Lunches are usually always 12 to 1:30. Even though they have done away with the changing menu for lunch, there are enough choices to have something new every day if you like.

I love the shrimp coctail, the fatoush and the sliders. If you ask them to make the fries extra crispy/well done, they are a LOT better, IMHO.

Cheers!

Can we go to Cagney's for lunch on the day we get on the ship? We are staying in a Penthouse suite.

Thanks!

When we were in the penthouse in Sept on the Dawn, we were escorted directly to Cagneys when we boarded.

We usually arrive around 11:15 and end up in Cagney's before noon.

I found that with all the rushing around packing and preparing things for leaving the house by the time I get to Cagneys, I am hyped up and at first must ramp down to the relaxed atmosphere at Cagneys. The staff is relaxed and cordial and my motor was running with "let's go" Hurry the car is here" ...It took the first half of lunch to calm down and not get annoyed with the calm, relaxed attiitude I needed to enjoy the rest of the cruise. Then VACATION started officially. cagney's is a great place to go with the flow. ENJOY Order a shrimp cocktail for me.

OP.. one thing that has happened to us.. and I hate to say it this way.. but some times the Butler that escorts you onboard maybe new or something.. but we had one that tried to take us to the buffet. He was very nice, but for some reason did not understand that Cagney's was open to suite guest for lunch on embarkation day. We finally just realized we could not get him to understand that, had him take us to the buffet entrance, and then we found Cagney's from there. The reason I'm posting this is so you know if they give you any resistance... just find your way there.. 8-)

Hi Eileen.. How have you been? I sure do miss you. Hope you have lots of cruises planned for the future. 8-)

Another nice (and related) perk is that suite guests wait to board in their own private area, and are escorted onto the ship before other guests are allowed to board. It makes you feel elegant and pretty special, although it may be elitist to say so! We always try to arrive at the pier by 11:15 so we are ready to board with the first suite group, and then we go straight to Cagney's for a nice relaxing lunch while the crowds fight for space in the buffet. You get a lovely view of the pool area from Cagney's so you can see all the commotion going on --- without you in it!

There is no need to fight for space in the buffet. NCL always has one main dining room available for a quiet sit down lunch, if one is not a suite pax.

That's true, but for whatever reason, most people seem to end up in the buffet! There has been some talk that staff try to discourage people going to the MDR, or maybe a lot of people just don't think of it. That would be a good topic for another thread, to remind non-suite passengers that they do have an alternative. But, I still believe that it's nice to sit peacefully in Cagney's on embarkation day and watch the crowd on the pool deck, waiting around for the cabins to be ready.

Once I got the taste of the 'suite life' I was hooked. I guess it helped that we got an upsell from an AD to an OS on the Dawn. Gonna try the Epic aft suite early next year.

We also feel that one of the best perks for suite guests is breakfast and lunch in Cagney's. I'm glad the menu doesn't change because it gives us a chance to try everything we want to and repeat things if we want to.

Shrimp cocktail is a favorite, Cagney's fries, and many other things.

Breakfast options - my favorite is the eggs benedict (traditional) as well as the crab cake benedict. Yum! Can't wait!

Sorry to double up on a reply. My wife and I just got back from trip on the dawn. Cagney's is great perk. We ate breakfast there most mornings. It's a nice peaceful way to start the day and avoid the crowds at the buffet.

When we sailed on the Dawn a couple of years ago, The Aqua was open for guests in a mini suite and that was a nice perk.

Not sure if this is sill a perk on the Dawn or on another other Ship?

We were in a mini suite on the Pearl in January and I don't think that was an option.

No, it was discontinued.
