But one more question.. why do people refer to DH DW etc... wouldnt it be easier to say my husband/wife and I.. :) I completely agree. It takes me longer to think of what the initials are than to just type it out. But then again, I type rather fast. :D So I've always typed the entire word. You could also say it with pictures... .... eh2zed Posted August 25, 2011 #17 Share Posted August 25, 2011 One little minor clarification. HMC (Half Moon Cay) is not owned by Carnival (CCL). It is owned by Holland America Line (HAL) who gets first dibs on it. Carnival Cruise Line only uses it when a HAL ship is not there. Now both lines are owned by the same parent company Carnival and plc. along with Princess, Cunard, Seabourn, Costa, etc.
Jimnbigd Posted August 25, 2011 #18 Share Posted August 25, 2011 Here's the official CC post for this, although I'm laughing that "DW" means "Disney Wonder". http://boards.cruisecritic.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_reading_posting#faq_acronyms
Underwatr Posted August 26, 2011 #19 Share Posted August 26, 2011 SS=States Ship (US Owned/Flagged Ship) Steamship. Also, the Netherlands Antilles formally dissolved on 10/10/10; Bonaire is now a public body of the Netherlands (Aruba seceded in 1986; Curacao and Sint Maarten are now "constituent countries" of the Netherlands).
