How often does Grand Cayman get skipped?

I'm just curious as to how often Grand Cayman gets skipped. I love the island and just booked another trip with hopes of getting there this time. How many of you have missed it due to weather and the inability to tender?

For me one time out of 10 trips.

We are 1 for 2. Skipped once, and made it the second time.

We've made it 2 of the 3 times. The last time we tried, we were told that they had missed it the last few weeks.

We've never had a skip in three times...we are scheduled to go there in November, so we will see if we will be 4 for 4.

We are 1 for 1. Memory seems to tell me is a fairly protected harbor, just not a big pier for docking. I'd guess, but anyone is free to argue or point out any falicy, but I'm guessing unless there is a "named" storm, you will make it.

We are something like 11 for 11 (no misses). The anchorage is on the lee side of the island (as one might expect). I would reckon there's a good chance you'll make it!

We've had to miss it twice out of perhaps 15 times. The weather can be beautiful but the combination of wind/sea conditions will determine if you make the stop.

 

Both times we missed was during the winter months.

We've missed 2 out of 4 times.

We're 5 for 5 making it. Going for 6 for 6 next month.

We were 1 for 1 on Grandeur. Rough waters precluded us from using the usual anchorage and we had to anchor at a different anchorage for tender service. Additionally a good many excursions got cancelled, including our tour of the island. Not sure why since there weren't any activities involving water in ours.

We are 3 for 3. On one of our cruises, the two or three cruises before us did not make it. I believe the reason is high winds and too dangerous for tendering.

 

Hey Rob&Bonnie -- love your location. I used to go there as a kid and even had the t-shirt. I can actually still pronounce it :)

Love the place so much, going to skip the cruise and just fly there for a week (or longer) :D

We've missed two out of 7 and it is not a "fairly protected harbor" rather pretty open to the rough seas.

We're zero for one. The cruise we missed it on was a December cruise and we're headed there again this December. Hope we make it this time!

We have had 100% success. Don't recall the number but it is more than a few. Only one rough tendering where they had to reposition the Jewel after we re-boarded. DW spent the final days of the cruise in a wheel chair due to the hard landing off the ramp.

We are 3 out of 4. Storm previous night and water was too rough to get in.

We've made it 2 out of 3 times. The one we missed was in 2005 when Hurricane Dennis was headed for the area. We did get an early arrival in Cozumel the night before we were scheduled to arrive.:D
